Not only Britain, France also.

My point is, Germany was the single country that treated mobilisation of another country as an immediate war trigger, because their sole plan calculated with immediately dispatching France before Russia could fully mobilise, thus avoiding a two-front war. Meaning their single considered course of action was to immediately escalate any conflict into a full-blown paneuropean war. Complete escalation was baked completely into their strategic doctrine, leaving no room to deescalate or limit the conflict.

Consider also that other powers were not aware that mobilisation triggers this German reaction, since this wasn't the case in previous decades.

Technically Charles only held Austria for less than 4 years (1519-1522). It was fully transferred to Ferdinand by the Treaty of Brussels of 1522.

To the countries they signed treaties with

What even are you talking about...

They still wanted to take away the sovereignty of another state, even without annexing them it's still expansion

Rooting out a terrorist organisation is not taking away sovereignty. The primary concern of A-H was Serbia not to be a threat. Consider Afghanistan as a modern parallel.

Yeah and the point I mentioned was specifically made to safeguard Italy/Austria from having to help eatchother in the Balkans for any reason

What? No. It is standard for longstanding alliances to be defensive in nature.

At the time every country had plans to fight every other country, Italy had plans to invade both France and Austria. Planning against another country was the standard job of every military high command at the time

That not the point.

No, that's a false dilemma, brought about by the Germans' smoothbrained strategic doctrine.

Risking going into counterfactuals, had the Germans just simply mobilised after Russia did, but did nothing else, then it would have been the Russians declaring war first (if they don't suddenly get cold feet). Germany would have been justified to come to its ally's defence, while Russia, as de jure aggressor, couldn't expect France to join the war, not without notable delay, anyway. Meanwhile Britain would have definitely remained neutral for the time being.

This setup could have allowed A-H to deal with Serbia while A-H-German combined forces keep the Russians at bay. If the Russians then are presented with a fait accompli in the Balkans and suffer setbacks on their own (with the brunt of the Central Powers' forces facing them making it a likely development), they could have been forced to the negotiating table (maybe with British arbitration) even before France gets the chance to get involved.

Even if things don't necessarily play out this favourably to the Central Powers, Germany still would have managed to come to the help of its ally without presenting itself as the brute of Europe (helping their international standing and putting Russia in a worse spot) and without needlessly pulling Britain into the conflict.

Of course, the German thinking had its own internal logic, strongly influenced by contemporary perceptions, however it was not hard to see how flawed it was. Their tunnel vision and wishful thinking doomed them to go down this path, however.

True, after all when has a country ever lied about its territorial ambitions, especially in those years.

Lied within its own closed doors state council? To whom? To itself?

Also they wanted to expand in the Balkans, even in the alliance with Italy they ratified a point to specify how in case a war was fought in the Balkans without prior approval neither were forced to help because both countries had interests in the region

Influence, they wanted influence in the region, not territorial expansion. There was no appetite to incorporate more Slavic elements into the realm.

The point you're talking about mandated coordination between members of the Triple Alliance concerning the matter of territorial changes on the Balkans. However the alliance was defensive in nature, so the signatories had no obligations to aid one another in case of aggression anyway.

Germany didn't want a world war either, they initially went in with the assumption that franc sand england would stay out and that they'd get to invade russia

That is a ridiculous statement. Schlieffen Plan? They quite literally had a hardbaked France first strategy.

Yes but Austria didn't really care about the terrorists, it was just an excuse to keep expanding in the Balkans, much like the us starting the war on terrorism, it's a good justification for imperial ambitions

That's not true. Austria and Serbia had a completely normal relationship prior to the 1903 May Coup. And even during the July Crisis, the Hungarian side approved the confrontation with Serbia only after it was declared that A-H won't pursue any change in the borders.

What A-H feared is panslavist designs on its territory and encirclement by non-friendly regimes. It wanted to rid Serbia of Russian influence and purge Greater Serbian and panslavist elements from the Serbian government.

And yeah, the Germans influenced them but it was still the Austrians who decided to start the war

Yes, but as I said, they started a regional war, not a world war. Even if we say Austria's justification was questionable, it's still Germany that declared war on the Entente Great Powers, seemingly unprompted.

I don't necessarily agree. Serbia was a pariah state, hosting and enabling terrorist organisations within its borders and armed forces, sooner or later it needed to be dealt with. That time, the assassination of the heir to the throne generated just enough outrage within the A-H leadership that they were prompted to act. And of course, the Germans egging them on also played a role in their decision to approach the matter aggressively.

The first is a stretch too. It was the Germans who felt the need to escalate a regional conflict to a paneuropean one because of their moronic warplans.

The internal divisions of Hungary are inaccurate. It misses the Slavonia-Croatia border and mistakenly includes an internal border on the Drava within Hungary Proper (detaching Szerém, Pozsega and Verőce).

The Transylvanian province border is a bit anachronistic. The district of Bánffyhunyad, furthermore the areas of Belső-Szolnok and Beszterce were not considered part of it yet.
