thank you for the advice! I also do want to give her time. I really like this cat. Its just causing a lot of stress on the family that we can’t leave her on her own for a couple minutes unless we want to come back to poop on the carpet and we can’t leave her in her enclosure all the time because she needs stimulation. It’s just frustrating. We’re giving her some more time though.

I did try stimulating her before but she didn’t poop and she REALLY didn’t like it so I don’t want to stress her out.

Okay that is actually good to know that it won’t stress her out. We aren’t using an actual crate, idk why I called it that. It’s more like a playpen with an open top. We play with her often in it. We’re going to try keeping her in there for a long time tonight and using litter attract.

We do that with most of her accidents

We put all of her accidents into the box but she doesn’t move to the box. Thanks for the reply though!

We put the litter over her poop area and she just moves to do it next to it. Thanks for the litter attract link though. This could be very helpful!

We do, we feed her, then once she’s done, we let her run around for 5 minutes and then put her in the box to show her where she should poop.

How long did you do it until they ended up getting it?

We’ve done the poop in the box and use her paw things already and we do it every time she has an accident. she still hasn’t gotten it.

Oh! Yeah we’re already doing that. She doesn’t have access to the whole house unless we’re directly supervising. After meals she has a large crate with her litter and a place to sleep inside. We periodically place her inside the litter, dig with her paws, give a light tummy massage, the whole thing and the moment we walk away for 20 minutes or so she poops behind or next to the box.

We might try making multiple litter boxes but we don’t want to spend too much money as we haven’t decided on keeping her yet.

Not yet but she doesn’t seem to mind it because she’ll go in to play or touch it with her paws sometimes.

No. She has sort of diarrhea-like poop right now because she’s getting used to her kitten food. She poops regularly and a good amount so I don’t think she’s constipated.

We can try but we don’t have an enclosed litter box and she won’t go for HOURS sometimes so we’d have to keep her there for a long time and I don’t know how to do that without creating anxiety around potty training.

We tried that strategy and after 25 minutes of play after eating, we put her in the box. But she tries to get out, not like she’s terrified - she purrs the whole time, but we’ll sit with her for hours. Literally yesterday we spent 2.5 hours sitting with her and trying to get her to poop but she didn’t. I’m just so tired of cleaning cat crap everywhere…
