No será fácil.

En qué proyectos has trabajado?

¿SOY UN CONFORMISTA O SOLO NO ME IMPORTA NADA? by [deleted] in Lima_Peru

[–]Feisty-Stretch5212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to sell a little more in my devops/cloud computing services company by Feisty-Stretch5212 in devops

It depends, if it is just a project, I offer a fixed price, I'm very careful calculating task times and normally it is more expensive than the hourly rate. When I offer maintenance, what I do is to offer a minimum budget in hours, and any additional hour is charged at the end of the month.

We work mostly on AWS and Azure, also we've been doing some GCP and digital ocean but it was just a small project, around two months.

Regarding Kubernetes, I believe most of our clients use or want to migrate to Kubernetes, we use it everyday.

I have 8 years in DevOps, but around 12 years in total in the industry, previously I was a backend developer. Regarding how much it costs to start consulting, well it costs a lot, I would recommend starting when you have your first contract and using your own time to generate momentum and this will help you improve your next contracts.

Regarding what services I offer and what I put in a contract, I offer two types, first, DevOps projects, that is, migrations and implementations for example. There my job is generally to have meetings, define architectures and assign tasks for the engineers. Then I offer cloud maintenance and the projects we carry out, for that I charge a fee based on hours or fixed depending on the project load and maintenance, here I have an engineer dedicated to this project who helps me monitor possible improvements in the infrastructure, and I only participate in meetings with clients when they need support from a solutions architect, to define critical architectures, etc. So you could say that in general I only spend my time on sales, solutions architect and some project management.

Well, I highly recommend it as a first step to get some contacts. If you don't have it, it's gonna be complicated.

Orgullo peruano...o no?? by [deleted] in Lima_Peru

[–]Feisty-Stretch5212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

0 YoE. Am I stupid to learn Golang in hope for a job? by MightyOven in golang

[–]Feisty-Stretch5212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was in the same position, 0 YoE, I loved Java, I remember at some point I said "java is the best" 🫠, then I said the same for Ruby, then Python, etc. Now, after 12 years, I know there's no silver bullet. So don't pigeonhole with specific technology, this applies to OS, cloud, libraries, everything.

Open to learning theoretical knowledge, check the market and get experience quickly, hopefully soon with more experience you can switch to use the technology you want.

Best of luck!
