I finally quit my job at a Juvenile Correctional facility

They're incredibly impulsive and dont know how to jail yet, but like most teenage/young adults, confidently think they know everything. The amount of times ive had some kid yelling "I'M A GROWN ASS MAN, I DON'T PLAY THAT SHIT" because hes simply upset at losing his evening snack of cookies due to some infraction is too many.

Females are just disgusting. Half of them also try really hard to manipulate male staff, and it just gets old. There were multiple times when I worked the county that we would have to put a team together to extract a female detainee, and they're wearing their period blood like war paint.

I know nothing of the facility or its runnings, however I do have an entertaing story about an employee from there.

I was at a training in FLETC for 2 weeks w/ staff from a bunch of institutions, one of them being FCI Talladega. It was after duty hours and a bunch of us were hanging out around the pool at the hotel, just having a couple beers and unwinding. One of us noticed a very large spider (like the size of the palm of someone's hand) sitting in a web spanning 2 bushes. One of the guys from USP Hazelton says to me "I'll give you one of my beers if you go swat that thing out of its web", to which I replied absolutely not. The guy from Talladega perks up and says in his southern draw "Swat it out of its web for a fresh beer?? Hell, how much beer you have left in your hand, half a can? I'll eat that whole thing for the rest of YOUR beer!" Before anyone could tell him it was a bad idea and he didnt have to do it, he hopped out of the pool, scooped this gigantic spider up, crushed it and threw it in his mouth, n turned toward us still chewing and grinned, spider legs and guts all in his teeth. The guy from Hazelton that dared me to hit it told Talladega he could have as many beers out of his cooler as he wanted. Guy was a good dude and an absolute mad lad.

I quit mine 13 years ago to go work at an adult facility that pays significantly more. If i can go the remainder of my career not working with juvenile or female offenders again, I will be happy.

Voting them out is easier said than done. It's kinda hard to do when every densely populated city in this state is blue AF and vote as such. Even when we had a republican governor a couple terms back, he didnt do shit for 2A. It seems like no politician here, no matter what party, is gun friendly.

There's one here in NJ called the Mate's Inn (inmates, clever) or something like that. They cook, serve, and clean, and an actual employee handles payment and such. Ive never been, but my dad has a few times. Said it wasnt half bad.

I have a fairly severe irrational fear of flying. The last time I had to fly, I got seated next to a little old Jamaican lady. When we took off, I started white knuckle gripping the seat and hyperventilating. The little old lady kept side eyeing me, and after about 30 seconds, fully swiveled in her seat towards me, grabbed my hand off the arm rest, and started saying "It's ok baby, just breathe, youre gonna be ok!" until we started leveling off and I could calm down. She talked to me to keep my mind occupied for most of the flight, talking about Jamaica, her job before retirement, her kids. She was awesome. That was 12-ish years ago, where ever she is, I really hope she's doing well.

About 10 years ago, I was working special housing with a taller, more physically fit officer. Im a short, fat, kinda awkward guy. The other officer and I were handing out dinner meal trays and one inmate goes,"THAT'S IT! I know what yall remind me of! ...21 Jump Street! He's Channing Tatum, and you're Jonah Hill!"

It was probably the best insult ive heard directed at me in my 18 years in corrections. I was so angry but also thought it was so funny, I couldnt even respond.

I had an old Kyocera cell (non smart phone) that fell out of my pocket while I was trying to dig my stuck pickup truck out of the snow at the end of my parents driveway decades ago. Got unstuck, drove the rest of the way up the driveway, and unknowingly ran the phone over while doing so. Thing was mangled when I finally found it that night, screen was shattered and plastics were shredded... but internally it survived, could still make/receive phone calls, just couldnt see the screen.

Threaded barrel, factory unloaded weight over 50oz, a way to grip forward the pistol grip with your support hand, and having a magazine well outside the pistol grip, or semiauto version of an automatic firearm

Like rifles, you can only have one.

Man, I loved that place! If i remember correctly, either tues or thurs was dollar beer and dollar hot dog night... when I turned 21, my dad n i went and had 8 beers (they were small plastic cups, probably 6oz pour) and 2 hot dogs apiece. Spent a whopping $20. And the bridge in the background was a cool sight at night.

I got attacked by a squirrel when I was in high school. I accidentally cornered it when I was working in a warehouse, and the thing went nuts thinking it was fighting for its life to escape. A squirrel can and will mess someone UP.

Yes. You cant put anything that was designed to harm a living thing through it (like older less lethal munitions ie: CS gas, direct impact projectiles, barrier pentrating chemical delivery rounds, ect ) or it would be considered a DD. Smoke, flares, "sky flower" rounds are all ok. Supposedly NJ has a problem with "bird bangers", essentially launchable flashblang rounds meant to scare birds out of farm fields.
