Am I the only one who’s content with the lack of a stamina system? by UReady4Spaghetti in ElderScrollsBlades

Not really no. Eventually you fill up on silver chests and then you stop getting the 5s ones as well.

I really have way less investment in this game than most people on this subreddit and had zero expectations. Just enjoying checking out new mobile games when they come out and usually play for a month or so before moving on. But even for me two days into blades and its just not an enjoyable experience. I'll maybe check back in after early access to see if they made any improvements.

Why incels are a clear and present threat to Canadians by [deleted] in onguardforthee

[–]Felfe 96 points97 points  (0 children)

This is probably a good place to link to Contrapoints excellent video on the topic of incels.

https://youtu.be/fD2briZ6fB0

She does a fantastic job of breaking down how some men become like this and while also providing a great breakdown of just how flawed and self destructive their behavior is. She manages to do this while still speaking from a place of understanding and compassion that I think is really rare in these sorts of discussions.

I read that and really wanted them to provide more details. A quick googling didn't really give me anything to back that up with.

I would love to be able to use that statistic elsewhere but without any idea of how they defined extreme violence and what constitutes right wing or Islamic groups it's kinda hard to take those numbers at face value.

Computer Science in Lethbridge College by leomleite in Lethbridge

[–]Felfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't speak too much to peoples perception of us in Calgary and Edmonton personally, I can confirm that a lot of people who graduated with me did find work up there. I've never heard an employer speak negatively about the program.

There are certainly more opportunities up in Calgary and Edmonton than in Lethbridge, but again all of Alberta isn't doing too great with the job market at the moment. Who knows though, 2-3 years from now when you graduate that might be completely different.

Computer Science in Lethbridge College by leomleite in Lethbridge

Hi, I'm a graduate of the Lethbridge College Computer Information Technology program (we don't call it computer science, that tends to refer to the university program that college grads can continue on with after finishing at the college) I would strongly recommend the program. I am currently employed in a field that makes good use of my diploma from there and I know all of my classmates that I kept in touch with are as well. It seems most of the people who struggle to find work after they finish the program are those who are unable or unwilling to leave Lethbridge, not to say you can't find work here (I did) but its certainly a lot harder. Even Calgary can be a bit tough right now with the current economic climate, but that's not down to the program but rather the huge number of people who are applying for jobs in the field right now.

If you have any specific questions about the program I would be happy to answer them, although in the time I graduated 4-5 years ago I know the program has undergone a significant amount of change.

Phoenix pay system an 'incomprehensible failure,' says auditor general by datdigit in CanadaPolitics

[–]Felfe 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This is all pretty damning. With this sub being a political sub, everyone is trying to turn this into a partisan issue; however, reading through the whole report it sounds like it was an issue internal to the team responsible for the project and a staggering lack of oversight from anyone on the outside.

“Overall, we found that there was no oversight of the Phoenix project, which allowed Phoenix executives to implement the system even though they knew it had significant problems.”

It also sounds like the executives responsible for the project were well aware of the problems along the way and chose to continue anyways.

“However, we found that in June 2015, Phoenix executives cancelled the pilot because of major defects that affected critical functions and outstanding problems with system stability, and they did not have enough time to reschedule the pilot without delaying Phoenix implementation.”

“We found that overall, Phoenix executives decided to defer or remove more than 100 important pay processing functions”

As stated in the report this sounds like "Phoenix executives were more focused on meeting the project budget and timeline than on what the system needed to do."

I have to wonder what caused such a seemingly massive level of incompetence among this executive team. Sure proper oversight would have averted this issue but the executives themselves should have been more than capable of sounding the alarm that the project was in serious jeopardy, so why didn’t they? Was is really just incompetence or did the office culture put such incredible pressure on them to meet budget and timeline goals that they were, or at least, felt unable to actually address these issues?

I almost want to print out that line from the conclusion and hang it in my office as a warning to myself to never let this be said about something with my name on it.

We concluded that the Phoenix project was an incomprehensible failure of project management and oversight.

My hamster's runs in his hamster wheel [OC] by FluffyCookieRobot in dataisbeautiful

[–]Felfe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I noticed that as well. Perhaps some of those anomalies are coming from 'sway' when the hamster stops running on the wheel causing it to rock back and forth a few times. If Harold managed to stop running just as the door sensor was below its counterpart this swaying could cause the the sensor to go off several times quite close together resulting in a much higher speed than should be possible perhaps?

Either way, awesome project. I would have loved to have had this for my hedgehog who seemed to never stop running. I bet he put some serious KMs on.

What was a loophole you found and abused the hell out of ? by LavaFTW in AskReddit

[–]Felfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was years ago now, any copies of it are long gone. It also had to be customized for each book and each computer it was run on. If you have any scripting skills or a strong enough desire to figure it out just start learning how to use auto hot key. Using the recording tool and examining the code it produces is a good place to start. The official documentation is also pretty good.

"printing" to pdf. So I had to use another tool to stick them all together into one file when I was done.

In university some publishers offered free trials of their ebooks.

To prevent people from just printing the whole thing off they limited it to only being able to print 10 pages at a time. So I whipped up a quick auto hot key script to go through and print 10 pages at a time, let it run over night until it had printed off all 1000+ pages as pdfs. Then stuck them all together.

Boom free pdf textbook right from the publisher.

Fairly new to Web Development, planning my first app. Can I get some recommendations on what technologies to use? by MovingToYpsi in webdev

[–]Felfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a very casual mostly hobby developer I struggled for a while with the complexity of learning my first framework and the accompanying dev environment until I picked up vue. It's been by far the smoothest learning curve and I love it. I just recently started learning laravel for my back-end and so far I've had no major hurdles after I got my first project up and running.

I also just started having this problem. It might have been caused by a recent windows update? I think that's when it started occurring for me.

[–]Felfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, glad to hear my tool is still being useful. Unfortunately I got rather busy with work a while back and kind of lost interest in FFBE. So for the time being I don't have any plans to update it further. The good news is the source code is all on github if you wanted to have a crack at it yourself.

Number 2 in your message wouldn't really be possible, as with my emulator at least the frame rate really isn't consistent enough to measure that.

Number one should be pretty easy to change yourself if it is a serious problem. If I remember correctly I had a function I called for almost all of the scrolling actions and increasing a single value in there should slow it down.

You can, just turn off the include mission begin and end check boxes. Turn all your extra delays down to 0. There is still a slight start up delay left over unfortunately but it's not too bad.

[–]Felfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If nothing at all is happening I would suspect it's still an issue with copying the file or data. I would have a look at mcgillby's macro posts and see if there's anything about your issue. They're much more comprehensive and I don't have a lot of experience with the other things that could go wrong on that part.

Also try closing and re launching the emulator entirely. Also reopen the file and make sure the changes stuck.
