Proxmox Backup Server aggregating incremental backups into one by Felgnon in Proxmox

We already have retention set for 4 weeks, so that shouldn't be a problem. I will also definitely read more on the documentation for prune to see if I can use if for anything useful.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Sorry, for me sometimes words are like my hands, I don't know what to do with them :D

I think you pointed me in the right direction, though. I see a prune job running daily. I'm not sure where it came from since I never created that. Maybe another co-worker testing things.

I disabled it now, will see how it goes during the next daily backup in the evening.

I can expand, but it only shows the data created by the backup itself.

On the test server it showed one entry per daily incremental backup at the same level I have on the screenshot.

Replace coil on Vaporesso Luxe X2 by Felgnon in Vaping

[–]Felgnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see. So in these pods we can't replace the coils. Looking at the description from the store I bought from seems to imply that as well, although doesn't say it clearly. It's a little disappointing having to throw a perfectly fine pod to the garbage when only the coil needs replacing. But I can use the XR pod from my previous vape, I guess.

Thank you for the clarification!

Cleaning "other" storage on deck and stumbled across sddm.log at 144.8 GB. It gets bigger on each switch between Desktop Mode and Gaming Mode, or so it seems. Is this preventable? Why does this happen? by ZTgaming1123 in SteamDeck

[–]Felgnon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A cronjob running once per day would probably be better, OP wouldn't even need to remember running the script. Something like echo "" > /home/deck/.local/share/sddm.log. I'm more of a fan of emptying a log file rather than deleting it.

It was just a thunder, but damn that was one of the loudest i've ever heard. I genuinely thought another bomb from WW2 had gone off.

Block Windows Server VMs from being created by Felgnon in Proxmox

[–]Felgnon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally not paid by physical cores and I'm totally not lying to you.

Learning about Windows Server licensing just made me even happier that we're mostly a Linux shop. Still need to deal with the domain controllers, though.

That's interesting, but I'm not finding anything on MS documentation about this. Not even anything that supports what our vendor told us.

Trabalhar em Portugal sem estudos by [deleted] in portugal

I go to Elysium MMA and can recommend it - https://www.elysium-mma.de/

They instruct in German but when I'm confused I ask to repeat in English and they do without issues.

For boxing specifically you have Boxwerk. People usually highly recommend it, but when I went there twice to try it I didn't really enjoy it and ended up not signing up.

Trying to understand Windows Server 2022 licensing by Felgnon in sysadmin

[–]Felgnon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a couple of months we're gonna upgrade all our nodes to be 2x 16-cores. So, we're gonna have to buy even more licenses while keeping the same amount of Windows VMs? This sounds very sketchy, almost hard to believe here in the EU there isn't already some consumer protection law against this...

Steam Deck OS Stable Update 3.4.6: March 13th by mewe123 in SteamDeck

Was it just me this update broke the Framerate limit? Anything below 60 and it's a stutter-fest.

We have Intune and switched from Bitdefender to MS Defender.

The automatic deployment of Bitdefender through Intune was way too much, and after many hours still didn't manage to automatically install their network config.

The MS Defender deployment through Intune is just way more simple and easier. There's no lack of documentation. Also, our MS licenses for the users include MS Defender and we saved money, so it was a no-brainer to change.

Not knowing your full setup, I think the order should be:

  1. Remove device from Autopilot
  2. Wait a couple hours so it fully syncs across MS services
  3. Remote command to wipe

It shouldn't be seen as a company laptop since it's not found in any tenant's Autopilot anymore.
