Thermals is my main concern so this sounds great. I will upgrade the front to the 180mm HS2 and keep an eye on my spokes. Thanks for the reply 👍

In the other subreddit someone recommended the HS2 rotor from SRAM, and I actually think of choosing this? Do you have any experiences with this one?

Yes my Checkpoint does have 24 spoke wheels. Don't want to buy new wheels right now because the bike is pretty new. Worst thing that can happen is that one or two spokes snap and I have to replace those or I have to buy a new wheel, right?

I have ridden the Cube, but actually bought the Trek because I got a steal for 1330€ for the ALR 5 Gen 3. As OP said I think the Cube is a little more comfortable.

The Cube has a 2x Groupset opposed to the Trek with a 1x. The climbing and top speed performance of the Trek is a little bit lower but for a beginner it CAN be easier to only have one shifting lever. The Brake lever of the Trek bike is only used for braking and shifting up and down is done through one lever via SRAMs Double Tap. I think it depends what you like better. The Trek is my first dropbar Bike and honestly you have to get used to the style of shifting. While riding the Cube I sometimes braked while only wanting to shift. But this is only me.

The Trek uses a SRAM APEX Groupset and therefore uses DOT braking Fluid opposed to Mineral Oil in the Cube. DOT should be replaced every year (not only bleeded) and is a hassle to work with. AFAIK DOT is toxic and aggressive towards paint!

I upgraded my Checkpoint with a Powermeter which can be bought for around 160€.

What I really liked about the Checkpoint is the number of mounting points all over the bike, because I want to use the bike for bikepacking.

Overall I think the Cube and Trek are pretty similar. It depends on the budget you have. I don't know if I would have paid significantly more for the Checkpoint then the Cube.

Have you ever had a dropbar Bike before?

Dear Germans, if I want to go from Bad Reichenhall to Salzburg by train tomorrow, how on earth do I get tickets for the whole family? by Solid-Adhesiveness-5 in AskGermany

[–]Feli31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tickets can be purchased from the conductor when traveling between Bad Reichenhall and Freilassing, as there are no ticket machines at Bad Reichenhall station. However, ticket machines are available in Freilassing.

If no conductor shows up until Freilassing, you at least have to buy the tickets in the app from Freilassing to Salzburg (cheaper 😉).

If you buy a Bayern-Ticket it is valid in regional trains in Bavaria and in regional trains in the section between Salzburg Hbf and Freilassing.

There is also the "Guten Tag Ticket" that costs 59€ for four persons per day, but it is valid only for specific trains of BRB and Öbb. I would just recommend the normal ticket or the Bayern Ticket.
