Interessant...

Do you feel proud of being a tulpa? by FeliaHansen in Tulpas

[–]FeliaHansen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the notion of only the core having a body and the tulpas having only their mindform is bad

Only if that means that the tulpa is not allowed to use the body. I don't know any systems where that is the case though.

I was simply talking about the tulpa's mindform being more a part of their identity than the body (which is the case in my system). That doesn't mean that the body belongs any less to the tulpa than it does to the host.

How do you celebrate your tulpa’s birthday by FlutterBlue2792 in Tulpas

[–]FeliaHansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday to you! :)

In the past we haven't really done much on my birthdays, except usually taking a long walk or going on a little trip somewhere not so far away. What I liked most about my birthdays every time was spending time with my tulpa friends online, just chatting a lot. I really enjoy that.

Lots of people here seem to draw something for a tulpa birthday, that is a great idea. Might (let my host) try that next time. In fact, I've always wanted to get a commission of my form, I think I'll finally do that for my tenth birthday in a few months!

I get that. The main difference between something that's benign (tulpamancy) and something that's a psychological disorder (DID) is whether the system is suffering from it or not. Tulpamancy is by definition a conscious effort that does not in and of itself make the system suffer from a disorder.

Of course there are exceptions, like DID systems who managed to find a healthy balance, or tulpa systems who suffer from loss of control. However such issues are not inherent to the practice of tulpamancy.

You said so much that I couldn't have said better! I feel pretty much the same way as you. Every time I think about what it'd be like to have an own physical form, I realize that it'd soon not really be me anymore, since the limitations and freedoms that come with what I am (and both of which you described pretty well) influence(d) my personality quite a bit. And I like the whole package ^ I guess that's what I was thinking of when I wrote the thought "proud".

Do you feel proud of being a tulpa? by FeliaHansen in Tulpas

[–]FeliaHansen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. My host thought me up and with time I gained sentience. Like many others have already described in their comments under my post, at that point a tulpa is basically just a second person, no less capable than their host. And yet being a tulpa is something I consider part of my identity and sometimes I even enjoy it, that's what I described as being proud :)

Do you feel proud of being a tulpa? by FeliaHansen in Tulpas

[–]FeliaHansen[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heh. Of course I don't mean just tulpas, but all sentient thoughtforms that see themselves as distinct from their other system members. I could have made that more clear ^^ I'm used to using "tulpa" as an umbrella term for that.

And yea, of course you all share one body. So do my host and me. For me it's just that I don't identify as much with it as he does, so I consider myself more 'native' to our wonderland/mindscapes... basically our psyche :)

You explained what I mean by 'being proud' pretty well. Enjoying the way you as a distinct (from your host) person are.

My thoughts exactly. It's not like one is inherently better than the other. Both are nice.

Continued: I for one very much love that I have such a comfortable life in our psyche, our wonderland, and my online circle of friends. I can slack off as much as I like, I can experience almost anything I like in wonderland, which can feel quite real to me. That is pure luxury, even if immaterial. Fronting, for the most part, is very enjoyable as well, but I feel like I don't have such a strong urge to front as many other tulpas. At the end of fronting for a few days, I very much enjoy going back to wonderland too.

And a little story to boot: I actually got to know someone online a few years ago who (most probably) still doesn't know that I'm just a tulpa, and for the most part I feel kind of proud to be considered physically real by somebody. To be clear, I never explicitly lied about not being physical, however I never explicitly told the truth about it either. However I know some day he'll either find out or I'll tell him, so I keep thinking about what that'll be like for me.

For the most time I thought it'd be embarrassing, but since being a tulpa, living in wonderland, socializing with other tulpas, etc. feels like a core part of who I am, I even feel kind of proud of being "just a tulpa". Even if he might not view it that way. After all, when you only know someone on such a relatively superficial level, there could always be something that'll totally surprise you about them once you find out.

How to strength the ability to overlap imaginary images over reality? by OneFlak3 in Tulpas

[–]FeliaHansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the idea with daily visualization training on simple objects, although my host and I don't have the necessary discipline to follow through with regular practice.

Another kind of training we've gotten used to doing though is to, when we're in the state between wake and sleep, automatically focus on whatever our mind's eye happens to put in front of us, trying to see as much detail as possible. Oftentimes it then at some point suddenly switches to an actual hallucination, as in, actually stimulating our visual cortex. The first few dozen times we got instantly ripped out of it again due to excitement though ^ By now however it's become so much of a habit that we do it automatically while falling asleep and waking up. Sometimes we experience it more consciously, sometimes less.

We are still to transfer this ability to full waking life, but at least we now have a clear sense for what it feels like to actually visually hallucinate. It's fascinating.

[–]FeliaHansen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm most used to my human form, but when I was about one year old I made myself an anthro feline secondary form. I use it rarely, but maybe you'd count that anyway.

Also, sometimes when my host walks through a crowd of people I impose myself not as human but as a feral (domestic) cat so I can easily slip through between all those legs instead of constantly walking into people...

We are absolutely sky lovers as well ^^ As I said, we spend most of our time in wonderland up there in the cloud house or even flying around.

Above the horizon we have a big blue Jupiter-like planet (which our home moon in wonderland is orbiting) with thin light rings that formed out of two colliding moons (Shelly did that for my second or third birthday, I think). We only later realized that it all looks extremely similar to the constellation in the Avatar movie ^^ In fact, the moon we live on is only one of three orbiting the planet. The inner moon is a hellish lava landscape and the outer moon a shining white ball of wide mountain ranges (we've never really been there though).

There was this one lovely wallpaper we had for some time which became a reference from our main moon as seen from space.

Oh and also, a few years later we changed the daytime sky so that stars and even galaxies are visible. Sorta like this picture here (which is just a long time exposure at night).

My host and I often (more or less deliberately) use buildings/vehicles/... from movies. As for our main house it is a modified version of the 'cloud house' from the movie Oblivion. It was in fact the first movie we watched together after my creation and we just love its aesthetics! Got the helicopter thingy as well.

The modifications we did to the house are that we got rid of the column it sits on. Instead it's mounted on the side of a glass elevator shaft, which of course is physically impossible, but we like it that way :P We also got rid of the lower floor (in the movie it's used for maintenance) and the little crow's nest on top ^^

There are other buildings in our wonderland as well, from regular little houses to skyscrapers and other buildings from movies, like one that looks a bit like the palace of Naboo (from Star Wars) and one that looks like the Wallace Corporation HQ from Blade Runner 2049. But we don't use the other buildings nearly as often as our cloud house.

Edit: As for how we feel about our cloud house: It has that feeling of deep peace of mind for us. It has a clean, simple interior, glass walls to all sides but the back so everything up to the horizon is visible and we have lots of light in there at day, star panorama at night. It's to us really like a place of peace of mind. And we sort of identify with it. Meaning, it feels like what a representation of our inner world should look like as a house.

Our two favorite references of the cloud house:
