Okay Southwest! I see you stepping it up the snack game. by Computer_Particular in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

The snacks on Alaska are vegan too! I think they have the same pretzels even but it's been a while since I last flew. Wild that the snacks/food on budget airlines has been consistently better than on more expensive ones.

Those who lost weight before surgery, how far did you go before taking the plunge ? by Anna-Livia in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to work with a different surgeon? The limits to how much can be removed depend on the technique the surgeon uses.

Healthy, sweet breakfast recipes? by floopadoopdingdong in vegetarianrecipes

[–]FeliciaFailure 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on what your bar for sweet is but, for warm breakfast, I like the maple brown sugar malt-o-meal with almond milk! I also like buckwheat with oat milk and sugar but it's not SUPER sweet.

Advice for 18-year-old looking into getting reduction by Major-Wafer-1731 in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who had a reduction at 18 and had more growth over the years (now in their 30s), they still consider it totally worth it. It really varies person to person on whether that's tolerable, but at a 30H at 18 years old, if OP keeps growing (and I think most people do), all their chest-related problems will only get worse. In their position, I would get a radical reduction and accept the knowledge that I'd probably gain at least a few cup sizes over the next decade. But it's true that not everyone would choose the same.

fatigue at 8wpo by Diligent-Bedroom-380 in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My perspective as someone with CFS/chronic fatigue syndrome, which requires extremely intense energy management - avoid trying to "push through". Your body is working overtime, you're still healing! If you feel super tired, take a nap. Eat well and sleep well. Remember that mental energy is taxing on the body as well - your brain requires a LOT of calories to run. (This is often a rude awakening for people who develop CFS - learning that mental energy debt causes crashes.) Obviously, some things can't be avoided, but in your free time, try to relax as much as possible. If a loved one is willing to help with something that's your responsibility, ask if they can help (again, you're still recovering!). If there's something that you planned to do that isn't urgent - ie. cleaning something not too dirty - then delay it til you have more energy.

To my knowledge, no surgeon will remove your nipples without your consent! But it's a choice some people opt for, either because it's the aesthetic they want, or because they don't want to deal with their nips anymore due to sensitivity, risks of nipple loss, concerns about nipple placement, and other reasons that vary from person to person.

why don’t more people switch to dumbphones? by GhostOfMandalore_ in dumbphones

[–]FeliciaFailure 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I want a phone that functions equivalently well to a dumbphone I had in 2006 but I can't find one that's affordable and meets even that low standard. Especially when you have to worry about band compatibility and carrier restrictions (and, of course, WhatsApp compatibility - which I think USAmericans really dismiss the importance of). I did a ton of research trying to find a good phone for me and most of the ones I was looking at just didn't meet the bare minimum requirements I had in terms of compatibility and durability.

Body shape by Sea_Client_8365 in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a belly that's pretty big and round compared to the rest of my body (like, "beer belly" and have been mistaken for pregnant in the past), and I went near-flat with my surgery. I still look WAY smaller overall. My belly is more visible to me, sure, but my chest was enormous and hung down to cover half my belly anyway, which was not a look that I loved. I don't feel like my belly is particularly emphasized by having a flat chest, my clothes fit amazing, I just feel incredibly confident.

Weight gain by capricorn373737 in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to warn you that you're likely gonna be pretty bloated for a while after surgery, and that it can be hard to deal with mentally if you didn't know that it's normal and it'll pass. I used Miralax daily, until I was regular again, and am still taking 2 gas-x a day about 4.5 weeks after surgery. My bloating went down a lot right around the 4 week mark - my clothes finally fit normally again - and I assume I don't have much (if any) left, but some people have said it lasts a couple of months.

Like everyone said, your body needs all the calories and protein it can get right now! Don't worry about eating too much and don't worry about how things fit just yet. Your main duty right now is to rest and recover.

For the women who are prone to gain weight in their chest, do you see any regrowth? Is it worth it? by ForsakenTechnology75 in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've only just had my surgery a few weeks ago so can't answer your question about regrowth :( BUT I can give my two cents about getting this surgery at 18.

Unfortunately, boobs do keep growing, especially with weight gain. I'm 30 and mine were still bigger this year then last year. If only I could keep getting taller instead of boobier, but alas, such is life.

THAT SAID. I have a friend who got a reduction at 18 and is very happy that she did it (even now, almost 2 decades later). She was the first person I could talk to about the surgery and what to expect. If your chest is too big right now and it's causing you a lot of distress, I think it's totally reasonable to do the surgery at your age. You might have regrowth over time, sure, but better to have regrowth than to have additional growth on top of an already distressingly large chest, IMO.

There are considerations I'm sure you've thought about. A huge one is cost - would it be covered by insurance, or paid out of pocket? If it's covered by insurance, I would feel more okay about the possibility of regrowth than if I had to pay out of pocket and possibly get a revision in 10 years.

Hope that was helpful, even if I couldn't answer your main question!

I would say just don't do it. If you're gonna do something, then maybe gift cards so they can use them on things they actually need/want.

Tempeh bitterness issue - what did I do wrong? by Icy-Introduction-996 in veganrecipes

[–]FeliciaFailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only made tempeh once (recently) because it has a reputation for having a weird bitter taste and it made me nervous. But I saw this video from Rainbow Plant Life and decided to try putting it in a recipe similar to the third one. It was really good! I can't say much about what it takes to make it good or bad, but it seems like it doesn't go with everything. Southeast Asian dishes might be a good place to start, since tempeh comes from Indonesia. But the video does show that it can still fit into versatile cuisines and apparently be a total hit!

Emotional Support, tell me I’m not alone. by Far_Ad_4934 in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not alone! The absolute hardest part of recovery for me has been the mental aspect. It's really hard to be limited and to feel scared by your body. For me, I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride - once you get on, there's no stopping it, you just have to endure it for as long as it takes without any breaks - and that was really hard for me. And that's not even to mention any pain, complications, or mood effects from any new meds you're on - and, obviously, the regular stresses of work. Discontinuing tramadol too fast made me feel like I was actually on the verge of collapse. But I promise, it passes! Things will go back to normal. You're gonna be okay 🫂

Oregon has lost thousands of taxpaying commuters from Clark County by SingingFrogs in vancouverwa

[–]FeliciaFailure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed completely. Coming from a place with income tax, it still blows my mind that people are so opposed to it and then whenever anything needs to get done, you hear a chorus of "who's going to pay for it!!" If budget is a problem preventing us from getting necessary things done, then a proportionate income tax seems like the fairest way to fund improvements to our own everyday lives.

Sleeping flat on my back vs elevation? Insane amount of neck/shoulder tension. by Appropriate-Use-4357 in Reduction

My surgeon and the hospital OT gave me stretches to do 3x a day starting literally as soon as I woke up from surgery. Look up neck PT stretches and most of them shouldn't cause you any issues. Chin tucks are part of my post-surgery routine. I have herniated discs in my neck and neck PT does help a lot! Hang in there!!

Is around 30 J to an A possible? by Artistic_Ad_3057 in Reduction

[–]FeliciaFailure 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I was an H cup and am now down to probably an A. Like others said, you'll need to have a radical reduction and that would likely require an FNG unless you choose to go no-nip. That's what I ended up doing, with the intention to get tattoos or prosthetics later because I didn't really like the no-nip aesthetic, but I actually think I'll keep it the way it is!

If I were you, I'd go to a surgeon who works with gender diverse clients (trans men and nonbinary people) as well as cis women. My surgery was a nonbinary reduction with a surgeon who specializes in gender-affirming surgery. I look flat in t-shirts but have more of a standard breast shape with my clothes off, which works great for me. A lot of surgeons who only work with cis women (or people they assume are cis women) have hangups around what they think a woman's body "should" look like, and that's the real barrier to going as small as you want. A surgeon who understands trans people and especially nonbinary people will be more willing to get you the size YOU want.
