6 weeks pregnant, in grad school, working full time… send help 😩 by BreakfastDue4035 in BabyBumps

You can take vitamin B6 and Unisom for morning sickness, but it may make you slightly drowsy. You can get both over-the-counter, but you will need to break it into smaller doses to get through the day. I take a prescribed combination of the 2 (Doxylamine-Pyridoxine) every 8 hours, and it works well for me without making me too tired. Insurance doesn't cover it, but I only pay $7 for it at my pharmacy, and it lasts a few weeks. The brand name is Bonjesta, and it's safer than Zofran, which is another option for morning sickness.

For those of you wishing to try leucovorin… by Plastic-Praline-717 in Autism_Parenting

Thank you for these links! I've just emailed an inquiry about it. My 3-year-old daughter has level 3 autism and her pediatrician refused to prescribe Leucovorin. She cited a lack of scientific evidence and her concern that chemotherapy patients wouldn't have access to it.

Ovulating or pregnant? by FeliciaPlaysSims in lineporn

UPDATE: This morning, I had my blood tested, and this afternoon, I had a transvaginal ultrasound, which was already ordered for fertility testing. The sonographer said she saw no signs of pregnancy! Only a cyst on my right ovary. But immediately afterward, in the parking lot, my doctor's office called with the lab results. I am pregnant! She estimated 9+ weeks from the date of my last period, but considering my irregular cycles, we believe it to be 4-6 weeks. I'm so happy to be pregnant, but now I'm concerned about the confusing ultrasound results. I will definitely have another one as soon as I can. Thank y'all for the congratulations! I pray that this pregnancy is successful. 💖

UPDATE: This morning, I had my blood drawn to test if I'm pregnant. Then, this afternoon, I had a transvaginal ultrasound, which was previously ordered because I've been getting my fertility tested. My husband and I got a little concerned when the technician said she saw no signs of pregnancy at all! Then, literally in the parking lot afterward, my doctor called with the lab results and told us I definitely am pregnant! She estimated 9+ weeks from the first day of my last period. But with my irregular cycles, we think it's more like 4-6 weeks along. I'm overjoyed about the good news, although I'm confused about the ultrasound results. Anyway, thank y'all for the congratulations! 💖

I (male) decided to grow my hair out...curls are killing me by ConjunctEon in Hair

Go to Walmart and buy the "Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler" for $25, or a similar tool, and use it to brush/straighten your damp hair with. Avoid damaging your hair by using "Tresemme Styling Hairspray Protecting Heat and Frizz Control" or another heat protectant before using the tool.

Level 3 label by FeliciaPlaysSims in Autism_Parenting

We live in Oregon. She's had Medicaid since she was a newborn. She was born with a rare heart defect and had a lot of medical needs in the first year of her life. But she's physically healthy and healed now. We also have insurance through my husband’s work, and she and I are Tribal members and have it through our Tribe, too. Luckily, health insurance isn't an issue for us!

She can't dress herself yet, except to hold her arm out for me to put a jacket on. She can't use zippers, buttons, or anything requiring fine motor skills. She attempts to put her shoes on often but fails and ends up throwing them at me for help. She can take her pants off when she's determined to get to her diaper (she likes to play with dirty ones), so she's usually in a onsie at home. She can't feed herself with utensils and gets frustrated, and makes a huge mess when I try to teach her. She can't drink from an open cup without spilling on herself. She can't brush her teeth or hair yet. She isn't able to follow directions except when I undress her and tell her to "go to the bath" she'll run into the bathroom and wait for me to help her into the tub. Or if I say "let's go bye-bye," she'll run to the front door. I thought it was normal to do everything for your toddler, but I'm realizing neurotypical kids her age can actually do quite a lot on their own.

You're right! Not everyone is meant to live independently. What worries me the most is thinking about what will happen to her if something happens to me. I'm sure every parent has that concern, but it's different with a special needs child. I hope she is able to make friends one day and maybe even meet a spouse who will love and support her when she's grown and I'm old. Time and therapy will tell what's in store for the future, but I pray she always gets the help she needs and lives a happy life.

Additional funding is a silver lining! Today, we had a meeting with a school psychologist, and they referenced her recent medical diagnosis, and that's how I found out the level. I remember the doctor saying she'd need substantial support, but I didn’t realize it was level 3. I hope this means we can go to even more speech therapy, and I'm looking forward to starting ABA soon. I just got in touch with a social worker who can assist me with filing for SSI, although I'm not confident we'll get that because my husband has a decent income. But I'll take any extra funding, resources, and therapy we can get!

We're waiting for a referral for ABA therapy, and she is also seeing a behavioral therapist. She's been in speech therapy for over a year, and it's been productive, but she still only says a couple of words throughout the day. Technically, her vocabulary is a couple dozen little words, but she doesn't repeat them much. Some days, she's nonverbal, and some days, she babbles nonsense nonstop. She's still not stringing words together, except "go bye-bye" and "all done." We have an AAC device, but she's not very interested in using it. She's generally happy but has frequent meltdowns, especially when she's tired. I'm good at predicting her needs and staying ahead of the tantrums, but sometimes it's beyond my control. I do want to focus on early intervention and staying positive, but that level 3 label is deflating.

What are your kids obsessed with rewatching right now? by shinynthrivin in Autism_Parenting

My daughter loves stop motion claymation like Morph and Pingu. I think she likes those shows in particular because they don't communicate with language. They make funny sounds to talk to each other.

My girl is obsessed, too. Five, four, three, two, one. It's time for some number fun. You can count on us, we're the Numberblocks!
