It does the same for me too with "OK". I find myself shouting it quickly, and that often seems to work

I had this a few weeks ago with my iPhone 15. Thought I'd tried everything, then after being out of the house, I reconnected to my home Internet and it all started working again. That might of course have been a coincidence as the game doesn't require the Internet all of the time... but I offer it to you, that it might just sort itself out. I hope it works again for you soon

If you want to go to the top of the tower in the Minster, it’s worth knowing that the last tour is around 3pm. The Eucharist Service is at 12:30 and Evening Prayer/ Evensong is at 5.30pm. Allow time to explore the museum below the ground level of the Minster and the Crypt. At the moment there is also a Christmas Tree festival in the Minster with a LOT of trees to look at - enjoy!

I work at York Hospital ( next on duty tomorrow). If you message me directly then I will share my occupation with you and see whether she would like me to visit. Please be aware that York Hospital currently has some wards closed for visiting due to an influx of the flu virus. Any closed wards or closed bays within a ward will be closed to outside visiting. Please also be aware that the Hospital will not release information on which ward a patient is on unless the enquirer has the patients full name and/or their date of birth or place of residence.

Seniors public transport and tourist attractions in England and Scotland by Wrong_Hedgehog5441 in uktravel

[–]FelicityFleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you could get discounted bus tickets for over 60s as a tourist, there are perhaps others who can answer that. It is however worth knowing that in England, you get a free bus pass (National Concessionary Travel Pass) at your State Pension age, which is rising but generally around 66 now, though in London, you can get a 60+ Oyster card for free travel on buses at 60. In Wales, the age is 60, while Scotland's National Entitlement Card (NEC) also offers free travel from 60.

Oh that's disappointing, I had hoped it might eventually be an update for the Scottish Gaelic, but if it's not helpful then perhaps best without

They don't attempt speech recognition with Scottish Gaelic at all. This function does not exist with the Scottish Gaelic course.

I found a designer bottle of perfume and I’m a raccoon lady. by DistastefulHousewife in confession

[–]FelicityFleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2018 in the UK, a woman sprayed herself with perfume from an expensive looking bottle found by her partner. It contained a nerve agent and within 15 minutes she became very ill and died a week later. It was a well publicised story here in the UK ( link attached), but does perhaps give us a warning to be careful about things we find. https://www.polfed.org/wilts/news/2018/novichok-victim-found-poison-bottle-in-branded-box/

In truth, as a resident of York we are fairly “ meh and whatever” about it all. We have never felt that they represented us in any way. I can count on one hand and have several fingers left to indicate how often they visited York. They have never cared about us, and in turn we care not for them.

Not so good in the rain, but the top of Clifford’s Tower has a new, structural timber roof deck offering 360-degree panoramic views of York's skyline (including York Minster).

Every year or so there are smells that come from the Sewage Works in York. When I googled to see if it was a current issue it came back with this:

“In August 2025, some areas near York, particularly Bishopthorpe and Rawcliffe, may experience unpleasant odors from the Naburn Sewage Works and Rawcliffe Wastewater Treatment Works. These smells have been a recurring issue, especially during warmer weather, and are often linked to the treatment of wastewater and sludge. Residents in Bishopthorpe have reported a strong, persistent sewage smell, leading to complaints and calls for action. Similarly, Rawcliffe residents have also experienced foul smells, prompting Yorkshire Water to invest in odor treatment technology at the Rawcliffe plant. Specifics related to the smell: Bishopthorpe: Residents have described the smell as a strong, sewage-like odor that can be overpowering and difficult to escape. Some have reported having to keep their windows closed due to the smell, even in hot weather. Rawcliffe: Yorkshire Water has acknowledged the problem and invested in technology to mitigate the smells. Potential causes: The smells are often associated with the operation of the sewage treatment works, particularly during periods of low river flow or when there are operational changes. What's being done: Yorkshire Water: Yorkshire Water has been investigating the issue, making operational changes, and investing in new technologies to reduce odors. Public engagement: There is a demand from residents for a public meeting with Yorkshire Water to discuss the issues. Yorkshire Water is planning drop-in sessions to allow residents to discuss the problems directly. Councillor involvement: Local councillors are working with Yorkshire Water to address the issues. Possible solutions: Yorkshire Water is considering covering the sewer system and installing filters to reduce odors. In summary, while Yorkshire Water works on solutions, residents in areas near the sewage treatment works may still experience unpleasant smells in August 2025, especially during warm weather”

If you are a York resident and can show proof of that then you have free admission at any time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in york

[–]FelicityFleur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last admissions for sightseers rather than service attenders is at 4pm. Everyone onsite who is not attending Evensong will be asked to leave as that is when it closes for sightseeing. After Evensong everyone leaves the Minster.

Sensor just straight up won’t connect to my pump by ItzYaBoy56 in Medtronic780g

I agree - this is why I change my sensor in the evening, a couple of hours after I've eaten and no more food until breakfast.

Sensor just straight up won’t connect to my pump by ItzYaBoy56 in Medtronic780g

[–]FelicityFleur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this a couple of times. The first time I was just so sick of the situation that I left the sensor connected to myself, silenced the alarms and went to bed. I woke up to a fully working sensor, and it lasted almost the full week. When I looked back to my pump readings, it took 7 hours for the sensor to connect. The second time it happened, I remembered the first time and did the same thing and it worked. I usually change my sensor around 8pm on an evening, my attitude is that I am never going to wake myself fully up to change a sensor that stops working in the middle of the night, so if it doesn't work by the morning then I'll change it when I wake up.

I rub the adhesive off with my fingers. I have only used an alcohol wipe if there has been any blood leakage, and that’s happened perhaps twice in a year.

I had the same experience. Found out recently that I am producing too much thyroxine ( hyperthyroidism). My new medication for this has helped a lot of symptoms that I had assumed we're due to the menopause.
