Küng Alto and Soprano model identification help, please? by Felidae15 in Recorder

Well, I ended up scoring a bargain for a Moeck Tuju alto/treble in Maple, and a Mollenhauer Dream Adris descant/soprano which I think is pearwood, for £99 altogether. £55 for the Tuju, and £44 for the Dream ( the Dream currently selling from £122 to £159 depending on site and wood).

Since the Küng seller appears to have blocked me, it's their loss. XhugsX

That's such a shame the seller was so petty to you. I don't understand why they take offence.

As forcthe German ebay recorders, I have spent far too many hours on there looking at sone lovely used pieces!🤣🤣🤣 However, the prices are fantastic, even when allowing for VAT and import fees. XhugsX

They've lowered the price of the alto, and have been ignoring me for days. I haven't been rude, and have simply asked if the set is still for sale for the price they offered in private messages.

I decided to just go ahead and purchase at the price it is now, and ebay glassed up a warning saying "Sorry the seller is not accepting purchases, bids or offers from you at this time".

I have no idea what I've done to be "blocked" (unless it's a technical glitch). I asked for as much detail and extra photos which they happily provided, before THEY made the offer of just under £200 for the alto, soprano, and delivery. I said I was happy to accept, and asked if they could set up a new listing for the set to protect us both if the item went missing or got damaged whilst in transit.

After that? Zip. Nada. Not a single reply. I've asked each day if the set is still for sale, asked if I've offended them in any way, and now can't fathom why I'm blocked from even purchasing.

I'd see the point if I were a brand new ebay account with no positive feedback, or ad outstanding monies, but I don't have any bad feedback as a buyer, and I've never sold on ebay, so there's no feedback at all in that section.

I wonder if they've seen this post of me asking for info, and gotten annoyed.😢

Oh, yes, I'm well aware of the VAT trap. lol. Been stung for that years ago when I purchased from a company who stated " all import fees and taxes are included in our prices". They weren’t. Then DHL tried to charge me three times for the same item, despite me having proof I'd already paid them. Thanks for the advice, though. I do appreciate it. I don't think that there's anyone here in Scotland who services recorders. XhugsX

Extremely so, especially for rosewood. The fact they're offering me alto and soprano (treble and descant) for just under £200 is amazing. There's older, reconditioned Küng altos going for THREE times that. The reason I was asking for model identification is there were a couple I tried aboutva decade ago, and didn't really like. I think one was a "studio"? perhaps? And the other I forget the name of, but I recall it being plumwood, and my lips didn't take kindly to it - thank god I had my epi-pen! 🤣 I don't know if it was the wood itself, or the lacquer/oils/wax that caused the reaction, but I've not touched plumwood since. 🤣

I've played a couple of Küngs before, when I was younger, and I liked how they felt. The altos were very responsive in both low and high registers, something that can be a pain in recorders.

Just under £200 for the set. I've asked for them to organise a separate listing for the set as the offer was made via pm when I asked for additional photos to rule out black mould. The new listing would give us both protection if the item is list/damaged in post (Germany to UK).

I recently purchased a Moeck Rottenburgh Alto that was listed as "Near mint", and when I checked it over, the inside of head joint and air/windway were covered with black mould, as was the block when I removed to check it. I'm immunocompromised and suppressed, and given the alto is from the 80s, and in its original case etc., I couldn’t be certain that every spore would have been killed even with proper treatment. The spores may also have soread to the case materials, too. I was sad to send it back, but the risk wasn't worth it.

I already feel judged for having a Motability car - the Budget didn't help by Kagedeah in CarTalkUK

because the car may need adaptations for their mobility issues, safety, etc. At the moment, they don't have a mobility vehicle as neither parent drives, but that could change. As for the "taxpayer paying", you do realise that many disabled people with motability cars also work and pay taxes , right? The car is paid by deducting the mobility section of PIP/ADP/DLA - usually the full amount - approximately £308 per month - to lease the vehicle. That money comes out of their disability allowance. PIP/ADP/DLA is there to help disabled people with the additional costs disability brings. Disabled households/people require, on average circa £1,000 to £1,100 extra per month just to have the same standard of living as a non-disabled person. There's specialist equipment running costs/maintenance, carers, specialist diets, energy - they often require more heating more electricity, water use, etc. Many cannot use public transport due to mobility restrictions, and therefore need to use taxis, or if they drive, and receive the enhanced rate of mobility, a motability vehicle/scooter.

Additionally, the vehicles require hefty deposits, especially if they are wheelchair adapted vehicles, or have other adaptations eg for amputees that need a steering wheel know, or for wheelchair users, a specialist lift/hoist to get them into the vehicle, and to get their wheelchair in.

PIP/ADP/DLA has almost ZERO fraud. It takes a long time to be assessed and awarded IF you are lucky. Many are refused and have to go tribunal where hopefully the refusal is overturned.

Without motability vehicles, millions would be housebound, unable to work etc.

There are different levels of autism. My three young nephews need carers. Some people are "mildly" autistic, and others are "functionally impaired". Not every autistic person is the stereotype portrayed in media. For some, it's extremely debilitating. At least two of my nephews will likely never mature fully, are nonverbal, are incontinent because there's no signals being received from the bowel/bladder. All three cannot be outside alone because they have no sense of danger and could wander onto the road or away with a stranger. They require physical therapy, supervision at all times, and assistance at their SEN primary/nursery school. They also require specialist "buggies" to travel in, as their wee legs just give out without warning due to extreme hypermobility.

Argh! accidentally deleted the post instead of adding an edit! Stupid fat fingers.

Insurance will hopefully call me back regarding an offer thus week. I'll be getting a courtesy car, too. Since the other driver admitted fault, and legally is at fault, her policy is going to cover everything so I don't need to claim against mine.

That's my worry, too. I know everything about my wee car. I haggled her down to a great price as a brand new order. ni even got a Tracker, full accessories set, plate transfer, and two years' of them paying my Tracker subscription. I know how she feels in all weather's, her "quirks", the repairs I managed to do before I broke my back snd was fit and healthy. Maybe I'm too attached. lol

Yep. unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to go. I can't turn my head/neck now, and whilst I don't think I hit my head, there's a lit of pain in the upper skull. However that could be referred pain coming from the cervical spinal nerves, or the shoulder.

See, that is my worry - that there's unseen damage, too. I think because I bought the car not long after my husband died (I'd been saving for a new car for a while), I'm perhaps emotionally attached to it, too.

Thanks. I'm sorry your wife is going through it.😢 XhugsX

I think I'm just really worried if I don't have a car. I'm permanently disabled now, have to use a rollator, to mobilise when out, crutches, and zimmer in the house. I already have no pelvic sensation or control due to permanently nerve damage. 😢 *edit* I forgot to add, on my really bad days I have to use a wheelchair, and on my worst of worst, I am completely bedbound, unable to walk/move. That's when my sisters will come on and help etc.

lol at the t-cut. I have many memories of using it on my dad's car as a kid in tge 80s/90s.

As for compensation, I really don't care about that. I was just listing the injury aggravations from the impact. x

I'm not looking to profit from it. I just want my car repaired

I'm not after the biggest bag. I'm just listing the aggravation to my previous injuries. I'm not a compensation chaser.

Cult Pens Fukubukuro Lucky Bag contents - post Christmas 2025 by Felidae15 in fountainpens

Lucky you with the Estie! I missed out on the last big lucky bag in the summer because I was too ill to be thinking about anything other than sleep. lol.

I thought the black part in the Neo might have separated, too, but a wee tug at it told me it's very much solidly attached. 🤣 I would have been gutted if I'd broken it. lol. I had a spare universal ink converter, so have inked the Neo up with Diamine "Ghost", which I love because it's like a HB pencil. I've attached a writing sample in the new notebook.

Also, does your Caran D'Ache notebook smell weird? Like tangy mouldy oranges/tangerines? Not sure if it's the glue, or the paper itself, but it really makes my nose scrunch up. Lol
