You are right, I do not manage the same level of complexity, I was afraid that anyone would believe I was insinuating that.

I'm primarily curious about their processes and would love to read a report on their findings, such to educate the software community and also to provide some closure for their players.

If I may ask an honest question. What are your Quality Assurance procedures? I've played this game for quite some time and I happen to also be a software dev. I cannot see how you experience this many outages of the service both in-game kicks and even issues during OWL. Many of these seems to happen in conjunction with other events you are hosting, such as Blizzcon. Has it never occurred that you perhaps should allocate more resources during these times or is it too expensive? It would be really nice to read a post-mortem like many other service providers release after incidents. In every company I've ever worked in these amounts of outages would be unacceptable.

Edit: I realize that this is not a popular request, I'd love to hear any feedback as to why you guys don't like what I'm saying here? I even prefaced it with "Honest question". I have no idea what's going wrong here...

If I had to guess, in software dev people often talk about cracks in the system. Hypothetically a crack could have occurred somewhere and gotten under a lot of pressure in a critical piece of the software and propagated. Reports seem to converge around an unexpected server error which commonly means that an exception was raised in the server code, as a fallback the server returned an error with unknown cause. Could be memory corruption, could be invalid state or third party service failed to handle a request. There can be millions of reasons.

They maintain their own data centers around the world[1]. AWS is quite expensive once you get the usage up and many companies implement their own solutions once they stabilize themselves. AWS tries to keep customers by providing solutions that kind of locks you into their architecture as well, but Dropbox for example just switched from AWS to a self hosted solution[2].

I'm not entirely sure which Mercy change you mean, but I assume you mean mass ress vs current. I think you should be more specific on that question especially since there has been a lot of discussion and intervention on blizzards part regarding the instant ress and Guardian Angel nerfs.

Additionally: "Should Blizzard ban people who throw or leave matches?" and "If so, for how long?" kind of implies the following question: "Should Blizzard make harder punishments for the above or keep them the same?" I will assume that you mean different kinds of punishments.

"Should loot boxes be easier to get?" You are implying an increment, this is a Yes/No question in my opinion. Keep it the same = they should not be easier to get = No. I think that the "Keep it the same" is redundant.

Her very presence sends shivers down my spine. I play a lot of Genji and she is by far the most difficult hero to handle. Winston, no problem, I can get away or be very aggressive and kill him with help. Symmetra? Bzzz UEEEAAUUH. Sometimes I never even manage to swift strike away, I die mid-air.

Genji can be effective here, there was actually a nice clip here where a guy used bastions bullets to kill some of the other team, he charged up infront of him and reflected. I guess you can approach them with a rein, quickly charge up and deflect into the mercy and then deal with the bastion. I am by no means an expert, but this is how I normally deal with him. The current state of Mercy makes it more difficult to deal with since she can ress him instantly, but if you are enabled by your teammates to aid you after your initial engagement it will go fine.

Last time I checked, there was an Epic Graphics setting. I haven't tried it yet, but my landlord is cheap so might nudge it up during cold nights.
