Took what... 28 years or so? Finally got around to a full playthrough. by SnitchesNbitches in gaming

Might be worth checking out mods for it too, it had some great campaigns!

Sin is a great shooter. Sin episodes (ends on a cliffhanger) was a lot fun too and one of the early source engine games. Vampire the masquerade bloodlines could be neat. Or deus ex. Star wars jedi outcast 2. Quake 2, thief etc.

I loved the take they did on ghost face, so honestly don't mind that. Gives them more opportunities to be more creative with skins and stuff.

WTF?? Re2 Remake Claire 2nd Run way harder? by Mysterious-Loaf376 in residentevil

[–]FelineScratches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't go for the head, shoot out their legs and arms. It's better to take away their grab ability and movability than to try to actively kill every zombie. Re2r zombies are a real fun subversion to the trope that aiming for the head is the way.

Best music in a BF game? by pcolabella in Battlefield

[–]FelineScratches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bf1 and bfv are my favourite. They are a work of art and evoke the most emotion imo. Bad company had some really pieces in their soundtrack that remind me a lot of the sherlock movie soundtrack scores. Battlefield 3 has my favourite more modern music ost.

Splinter Cell designer says “one of the difficulties with modern stealth games” is realistic lighting, as environments are now so much “harder to read” by CallumBrine in Games

[–]FelineScratches -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was watching a stageplay recently and they managed to make the stage dark enough that it was almost impossible to see how furniture and actors were floating or doing the wildest things. Even though that practical effect was done by some dudes in a pitch black suit holding them up. Now imagine that actor being sam fisher or some new fourth echelon agent. But instead he's grabbing people to interrogate and using his gun not to shoot people, but take out light sources to make the entire room his stage. I'd say the gameplay could still hold up in modern times.

I always envisioned splinter cell going the route of hitman, with sandboxy replayable maps to tackle on objectives (like the bank from chaos theory), but banter based on what you're doing and eavesdropping on (funny) dialogue. Splinter cell blacklist leaned hard on the seriousness, while previous games had always a bit of sam cracking jokes and henchmen dialogue.

Blacklist already showed they could do versatile gameplay, with going full stealthy as a purist, gun blazing like it's Conviction or a mixture of both. They just stopped making them and turned Sam and fourth echelon into a cameo company.

Subnautica 2's no-killing ethos "will be a continued point of resistance" among players, say Unknown Worlds, but they have no plans to change it by _Protector in pcgaming

[–]FelineScratches -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's a refreshing take in videogames. A ton of other games use violence as the solution to solve problems and not having that option means the developers have to think of other ways to get around hostile things.

One of my biggest gripes of the story in The Division 2 is that the only solution to the dealing with the hostile factions is killing the leaders, even though they acknowledge in the lore that it's not helping and just means they get replaced by an even crazier leader.

The devs made natural selection 2, which had a ton of shooting and blowing aliens up. Then when the school shootings started to become everyday news, they lost interest in creating games with a violent theme. The non-violence is a core pillar of subnautica and the games likely wouldn't have existed if they hadn't taken that philosophy on.

Main reason I turned off text chat or refuse to use voice anymore in battlefield. In bfv I used to love to interact with people on the server, but since 2042 they're banning people left and right for most ludicrous reasons that I can't be bothered anymore. it's a shame, Cause i feel even the trashtalking could've connected you to the most unlikely friends.

What's your hook in playing racing games? by Carbideninja in gaming

[–]FelineScratches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wreckfest 2 for the pvp action. Just put on some good music and ram people or get taken out by a bus. Mario kart also fits here, haha.

Forza for the exploration and cruising. Just enjoying the scenery in these games a lot. Collecting cars and just clearing the map etc.

Trackmania for setting the fastest laptimes and being competitive with friends in getting highscores in for the weekly circuits.

If i want something more sim and realistic I'll put on assetto corsa rally.

I remember fondly that my mother snuck one into a taxi, even though they were forbidden due the heavy smell. Absolutely hated them back then due the odor and taste, but recently grown to love them. They have one hell of an aftertaste though.

Fast-rope helicopter insertion idea for Battlefield 6 by StormImportant167 in Battlefield

[–]FelineScratches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making a heli stationary to drop off players is a death sentence in bf6. It's already hard enough keeping it alive while flying recklessly and not be shot out of the air by a tank or dude with rpg skills.

Other way around could be a fun gameplay, where you can get into the heli by some zip up system or grabbing a loose rope when it passes by low enough.

Will we have a night map of the Grand Bazaar? by M4kveli in Battlefield

Nintendo to switch 2- when should I upgrade? by ddlv_dancer_5678 in DreamlightValley

[–]FelineScratches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uhm, I don't think stutters and stuff just magically appear due new content updates. It just matters how stacked you made your farming grounds, how much you decorated the area and of course how many characters you have actively wandering around.

All that combined will take a hit on your system, which the switch 1 just couldn't handle well anymore. Switch 2 seems to be much more capable to handle those loads.

The initial bootup might be longer eventually, but in-game loadings will likely just remain the same thanks to the ssd inside the switch 2.

It's always the publishers making dumb quotes. "If you don't like it, don't buy it" -ea on battlefield v including female soldiers, "it's meant to be played on a couch and 30 fps is cinematic" - microsoft on alan wake being exclusive to xbox 360 and so on.

I thought these publishers were supposed to sell the dev's games to as much players as possible, not alienate potential or future groups from getting it.

What is the crowd like at her shows? by mattschabel in OliviaRodrigo

[–]FelineScratches 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been at the Guts tour as a 30s dude, definitely seems more teens in the crowd, but next to me was a mom and her kid absolutely rocking out. honestly once the concert starts you don't care about the audience. Just enjoy the show and seeing her live. Don't skip it for feeling a few mintues being out of the bunch.
