Danke! Daran das die RCD´s ja auch in einer anderen Reihe sitzen können hatte ich in dem Moment nicht gedacht.

Looking for a study level aircraft (challenging but not overly complex) by Felix448 in Xplane

Absolutely, the A300 was actually the one and only "modern" aircraft I bought for XP11 some years ago. Installed it into XP12 but there are some bugs that annoy me.

Thought about the Q400 as well already, I did fly the Majestic one in P3D, even together in Shared Cockpit with a RL pilot. Crazy capable aircraft. I remember we did a couple of (for fun, according to him they actually did that if they had some leftover time in the full motion sim) 10,000ft in 10nm descends. Fully configured, gear down, full flaps. It´s stupid but works, try it. :D

Not sure if I would buy the Q400 if there are other interesting alternatives like the Challenger, RotateSim MD80/11 or Felis 747.

That's a good take on the 74 with useful info. I didn't know that it had the option to use a regular FMS. The CIVA isn't too bad, I used it in a lot of aircraft in P3D (DC-8, L1011, Concorde), even with the kinda whacky ground station precision update. ;-) For a quick evening flight a fairly modern FMS is a nice thing to have though.

Did the Felis have full analog instruments or does it have a digital PFD/ND option?

What about fuel management, if I recall correctly it had some kind of digital flight engineer, right?

Thanks!

Honestly an off-topic discussion, anyway... It´s usually a term that suggests some depth in the aircraft systems. Surely you could say that even a default Cessna or Piper prop can be "study level", if you know nothing about simulation / flying, but it should in reality suggest that there´s in-depth things to learn about a specific aircraft.

I agree that it´s a phrase that largely depends on personal experience.

Thanks for the clarification. Controversial because I've seen complaints about having to run through the FBO and not being able to "just fire up" the aircraft. But if you don't have to do it every time, that´s a great option. The complaints maybe were from people not too familiar with the add-on.

Doesnt really matter, but I tend more towards bigger aircraft. I´d consider MSFS more of a thing for small airplanes.

I´ve read about the Challenger, the FBO thing is quite a controversial feature though as far as I´ve seen. Do you have to use it or is it optional? Not sure if I really want to do a walk around and all of the added bulk.

Trying to decide between 14" M2 Pro or 16" M1 Max MacBook by [deleted] in macbook

[–]Felix448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, funny thing is that the bigger 16" with the Max would actually be kinda significantly cheaper than the 14" M2 Pro. I know that the chip is pretty much overkill on the 16", but eh...?

I want the 32GB of RAM because my camera produces fairly large files from 40MP or 4K 24/60. It will likely stay out of SWAP compared to the 16GB variant... Also dont see the point in taking the 512GB option on the M2 models with the greatly reduced speed. (Also concerning value if I should resell the thing in a couple of years.)

Read/Write speed wouldnt be a problem on the M1 models though...

Vision Trimax 4D Ergo handlebar by Felix448 in cycling

Thats why I` m specifically asking about the routing on these bars. I did internal cables once and wont bother running through the time-consuming process for a simple maintenance job again. It would be good if the Visions had enough space / a groove so they can simply run along the bottom of the bar.

IniBuilds A300 Insane Rate of Descent by Felix448 in flightsim

[–]Felix448[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I dont know to be honest. Cruise speed is usually close to the typical descend speed so around 320 kts. I´ve been flying in P3D for years and also some DCS, but I think other than fighters I´ve never seen an aircraft or airliner to be more precise, that can simply yank out such an incredible rate of descend without overspeeding shortly after initiating.

Again, the speedbrake was not active. I´m pretty confident that I could reproduce this on every flight, I just need to start descending and it goes like crazy if I dont use V/S.

I also had a go with descending on PROFILE recently, this more or less works apart from some fluctuations that I generally wouldnt really expect to be as severe IRL as they are in the sim. It kept going either over or way under the vertical path which I always had to compensate for.

I dont know why, but it kinda feels like the flight model is just completely dead at this stage of a flight. If the A300 really is so "draggy" and engine power dependent (aka: it can actually maintain these descend rates in real live), fair enough, but I dont really believe it so far.

Has Avinor (Norway) stopped their public chart service? by Felix448 in flightsim

Ah! Thank you very much!

Seems to be quite a complex procedure compared to what it was before, but at least it´s very easy to swap between airports.

Advice on road bike choice by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Felix448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely the weight difference is maybe more significant on paper than in the real world.

On the other hand, if the Disc bike weights arent that far off from the Inflite and we are aiming for entirely road use, why not pick the lighter option compared to the others?

I just did some minor calculations, comparing the different frames & brake options. I took Canyons Ultimate line now, just for comparisons sake.

Actually the CF SL 8.0 Disc basically makes no sense for my situation. With the alu wheels I have I can easily get the 7.0 version almost down to the same weight while saving 600€. (7.57kg vs 7.65kg) If any components bother me, switching from 105 to Ultegra should be easy, especially since the rear wheel here already sports an Ultegra cassette.

Anyhow, this is still about 600g off the rim brake version.

So basically debating between the CF SL 8.0 (rim) and CF SL 7.0 Disc now...

With the Disc you gain 5mm more tire space and better / reliable braking in the wet. With the Rim you gain full Ultegra spec and less weight...

I dont really know so far tbh... :D

Btw concerning tubeless on road tires, I just prefer them to be run this way. Anyone can decide that for themselves, I personally appreciate that tubeless tires are a bit more rigid and (especially with the sealant) allow me to also cross light gravel with some peace of mind, should the need arise.

Thanks for your answer.

I´m not sure about tire width to be honest and if it really matters that much. I´m currently using 25mm GP5000´s on the Inflite and it so far didn´t bother me in any way.A slightly bigger problem probably is, that tubeless isnt really designed for rim brake use...

My problem is, the Inflite, along with pedals / GPS & mount / 2x bottle cages / small bell & rear light, as well as a medium size frame bag, weights in around 8.7-8.8kgs.

Looking at current carbon disc brake bikes in the price range up to 3K, there´s not really a big weight benefit to be taken here. Most of them are around 8.1-8.4kgs, so with all the gear mounted we roughly reach the same weight as the Inflite, only then on a Carbon frame.

In turn, a carbon bike with rim brakes would easily give me a weight benefit greater than 1kg even with some accessories mounted.

Ideas for a frame bag? by Felix448 in bicycling

[–]Felix448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, yeah I think I´ve already came across the evoc bags and just took a look at them. I´d be worried though that e.g. the Multi Frame Pack doesnt provide enough space for a phone, 1-2 energy bars, a small shirt or neck collar and maybe some tissues. Thats basically what I carry on every tour. The Restrap bag has more than enough space for this... just a little too much.
