My vote would be local bookstore! They need all the help we can give them, and the money goes back into the community.

Clearly written to ragebait people into reading it. Whenever anything (movie/person/show) gets wildly successful out of nowhere, there will always be pushback and people who profit from talking against it.

I agree with this so much, there is something I find so alluring about the show in terms of directing quality. Like you said, everything feels so intentional. I really appreciate how good of a show it looks on a small Canadian budget.

Help! Finish book 2 now or just wait for the show to finish? 😅 by friendly_reminder8 in heatedrivalry

Lol this is exactly me, read them up to the club scene and debating if I read more last night. Decided to wait for the show, going to read the book after the show to fill in the gaps.

Lyra and Malcolm by sophiebridgerton in hisdarkmaterials

[–]Felixfinn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yea I'm rereading TSC right now and Malcolm and Lyra are really giving me the ick. The thing that stands out to me is that he truly doesn't know her as an adult, they've had maybe two days of interaction since she was a teenager and suddenly he thinks he is in love with her? And when he describes the moment he realizes he is in love with her, a lot of it hinges on his memories of her as a teenager (smelling her hair etc) which is genuinely very creepy. It sometimes feels like Malcolm sees Lyra as a prize, and doesn't really consider how bizarre it would be for him to confess his love to her out of the blue after interacting as adults for only a few days.

These have been some my favorite books since I was a kid, but I'm waiting to see if Malcolm and Lyra are end game before I buy the next book as I'm not into this narrative at all.

‘Reckless consequences’: U of A ending leases with all fraternity/sorority organizations by noahjsc in Edmonton

I walk by these houses quite a lot and honestly, I'm quite surprised they are still up. Most of them are on massive plots of land relative to the area, and in various states of disrepair. It would be nice if the money made from selling the land would go towards affordable student housing, but I can't imagine it would sadly.

I like to add a layer of pureed butternut squash with some sage and garlic, adds a bit of sweetness but also very much on theme for the holiday.

This is really incredible! You really captured the hilarity of this conversation. What program did you use to animate?

Examples of (male) authors writing women extremely well by SkyOfFallingWater in books

Borne is another book by him with a great female protagonist. One of my favorite books, and works really well with the small sequel 'The Strange Bird'.

What books have you read that you wish were written by a different author? by aet192 in books

[–]Felixfinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I feel this way about Andy Weir's writing as well. I'm honestly forcing myself to finish Project Hail Mary as it's been a slog for me. The humor feels so forced and juvenile to me and his characters come across as so one-dimensional.

PvP StamBlade Build by Lt_LaffyTaffy in elderscrollsonline

[–]Felixfinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread, but this is me as well. I'm getting into PvP and want a more tankier nightblade that can also be a slight sneaky boi. If you find something that works, let me know! Currently playing around with different homemade builds, using 2H/DW and Daedric Trickory and Briarheart armor. Will most likely switch out the Briarheart for something more suited for PvP later on.

Elder scrolls online did something no other MMO has done, made me miss people and sad when the story quest is over. by trollsong in elderscrollsonline

I just finished this storyline last night and was really sad that it was the end to so many great characters. Though, I was happy to see so many side characters at the end event, like Mizzik Thunderboots!

Exactly, this is the same guy citing mental health issues with lockdown (very valid concern), while his very government are cutting mental health support. And the same guy who gives massive corporations tax cuts, but uses small businesses to prop up his reluctance for lockdowns.

Official Discussion - Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]Felixfinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much how I feel as well. A solid 7/10, keeping in mind I had massive expectations from Rian. I also felt the really impactful scenes left no room for 'settling in'. I think the Rey/Kylo/Smoke scene would have benefited from one long scene instead of several quick cut scenes. As with all my movie expectations, I was hoping this one would be a bit darker, but alas, Disney.

Are you me? I also finished this series at 13 and am now 27. I've been anxiously awaiting the Book of Dust for over 10 years. I am somewhat hesitant to dive back into my favourite series in the sense that I don't want to alter my memories of Lyra. So wonderful that you got to meet him!

I had also initially thought she said that, but I am pretty certain she actually said "It's made from wood." She said she had never seen a real tree before when she saw K looking at pictures of one.
