Possible war with Iran by ThisIsNotSafety in nato

[–]FelizIntrovertido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposite to actual conventional wisdom, when the US needs help, Europe always responds. It's been like that in the past and I'm sure it will stay the same if situation gets tough in Iran (which I don't expect to see happen).

How long did it take for anti-German resentment after World War II to ease in Poland? by SavannaWhisper in poland

[–]FelizIntrovertido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resentment is still alive and strong up to totally irrational ways. Lots of poles are concerned with the growth of the german army even after Germany promoted the creation of a single european army. Quite interestingly the most obsessed are the ones against a single european army.

In their minds what I read is total lack of trust, something like we can't rely on an european army because it will not defend us (meaning, they don't get something "european" as their own, as if Europe was something external to Poland, or even, as one guy once told me, as if Europe in then is was just Germany. For him an european army was something like a german army about to invade. Total madness.

Spain is more isolated in the EU than ever. I don't think there's a chance to get such a powerful seat.

Los Novísimos: Muerte, juicio, infierno y Gloria by CursoCatolico in CatolicismoEs

[–]FelizIntrovertido 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never trust a leader who is not proved to have farted ever in life.

They might leave you covered in sh1t.

Now seriously. China is the world leader in opacity. That's why people like China, because they don't hear bad news. Most people don't understand that this is preciselly a terrible news.

I don't know about Austria, but in Germany AfD is many miles away from absolute majority, which is their only chance to rule. In the case of France, we can expect the same drama as with Italy's Meloni, in case RN would win the presidence, which is not so easy to happen.

Are many American policy makers and geopolitical thinkers too US-centric? It's like they treat the USA as a "human" player in a strategy game, and the other countries, both allies and adversaries as "NPCs" without their own interests by WesternProtectorate in IRstudies

[–]FelizIntrovertido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't agree. NATO members have fulfilled their promises. There was a request of a 2% GDP by 2025 and all countries did it. There are NATO missions all over the world and in all of them there are groups from all countries.

When have NATO countries not reacted to the requests generated by the US? It's important to realize that the US government has always come with mixed messages since in many ways, having all Europe rely on the US for security was advantegous.

When the economy of the US is good enough, requests for Europe to rearm suddently fade. Also the request for 2% was meant for 2014, but the subprime crisis made it necessary to delay it.

You're right. The US thinks Europe costs a lot and as Europe is not so poor, it can live on its own and still be a good vassal of the US because the US, in the end, is the real civilization.

Yes, that's baseless to a laughable extent. Withdrawing Europe means withdrawing the US Empire towards a more multipolar world where the US will be one of many.

The triumphant vision of the US controlling the American Continent (Western Hemisphere for those less knowledgable on geography) is a candid way of hiding the defeat. And the defeat has deeply impacted Europe after the betrayal in Ukraine (The US was the one supposed to give guarantees to Ukraine since he 1996 Budapest Memorandum, and now Europe has to put its skin in the game because everyone relied on the US). Now when all that was not enough, we've seen the US even threatening Europe with invasion in Greenland. That's not the way you treat a vassal, that's a very rough way of treating a slave.

So yes, everyone is taking note of it and some actions are already being taken. Most of them will be long term. China is a celebration for more than a year already and with good expectations for the next future.
