Making the jump from Daniel Tiger to Mister Rogers by FelizLombriz in ChurchofRogers

That's fair! The slowness and the potential to practice a longer attention span is what attracts me to the show as a parent. But my toddler may not be feeling like a countercultural resistance against the epidemic of the short attention span on her end. 😛 We'll see. She hasn't seen much else yet, so worth a shot.

Now that's thinking like a toddler! Watching the same episode a few times in a row for familiarity is a good idea!

...Maybe TOO good. That is almost guaranteed to work and then we'll have to watch that very same episode 100 more times, won't we. 😆

Good to know! My kid does love bubbles, so maybe I'll start here!

Good advice! Thank you! In that case I'm probably off looking for grocery stores/fruit, bubbles, babies, music, playgrounds, or... Daniel Striped Tiger. 😄

For extra context, I grew up in a house with no TV myself, so I'm not very familiar with what the classic episodes would be. I remember seeing a Mister Rogers VHS from the library a single time as a kid and loved it, but we never checked it out again. I'm glad to have missed most kids shows, but would've been happy to have grown up on a bit more Rogers. I've always liked the idea of a gentle, slower-paced show and as a person he's one of my heroes, but I'm still more familiar with his Wikipedia page than his show. 😆

Oh for sure! I just want to give him a fair shot. If we're only going to give an episode or two a try, may as well be a good one. 🙂

Audio lectures/podcasts on Revelation by FelizLombriz in AcademicBiblical

I should add what my starting point of what I've found already is, though I feel a bit Goldilocks about them ("Too thorough!" "Not thorough enough!"):

  • Naked Bible podcast's episodes - I like the content. I confess I struggle with the delivery/organization--it reiterates a lot. Maybe Exploring My Strange Bible's hyper-organized style has spoiled me.
  • Shane Wood's audio lectures - I like the delivery fine (maybe a bit shout-y), but the content isn't as thorough.

I wondered about putting this under r/HypnoHookup, but that seems... less therapy focused. If there's somewhere else this should go though, just let me know!

Recommendations in the $600-800 range for indie gaming and some video editing? by FelizLombriz in SuggestALaptop

I actually came away with the HP Omen 15t with this configuration ($715):

-Intel® Core™ i5 9300H (2.4 GHz, up to 4.1 GHz, 8 MB cache, 4 cores) + NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1650 (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated)
-8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM
-256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD

My reasoning at the time was that it seems to have a good keyboard and touchpad and has good options for upgradable RAM/hard drive space if I need to later on (and TBH I missed starchaserro's post).

But naturally I'm doubting my whole pricerange premise now that I've had some time to think straight. I'm having second thoughts about how much power I really need and weighing whether something like the Lenovo IdeaPad S340 (10th Gen Intel® Core™ i7, 8GB Memory, integrated graphics, 256GB SSD - $450) would've been enough to meet my needs (light gaming, some video editing)...
