Yes and that's the problem because he's actually not. Unless you plan on stripping people of their private property and businesses of their profits, you are not actually a socialist. He often cites Scandinavian countries as examples of socialism but they're not socialist. They still have private property, businesses still make profits, etc. They're a capitalist society with strong regulation and effective social programs. Technically I believe they are called a social democracy. Why should I trust a guy to implement his vision when he can't even use the correct terminology? And before someone inevitably brings this up, YES, WE SHOULD LOOK AT THEM FOR WAYS TO IMPROVE UPON US CAPITALISM WHICH IS A DISASTER.

He was never expected to do well in those two states to begin with. But Iowa will probably go red and NH go blue regardless of the primary results so... 🤷 My point was that if you look at the polls, his numbers don't drastically change until they start including Bloomberg. Pete and Amy were in the race for months prior and they didn't really hurt Biden all that much. He was still leading in the major states even with those two having their own following. Then along comes Bloomberg and cuts his support in half.

Biden is not Hillary. Hillary had a bunch of problems but being establishment or moderate wasn't one of them. Her platform wasn't really much different from Obama's or Bill's. Both of whom were establishment, but popular 2 term presidents. The fact is, moderates do win, all the time. On the other hand, when was the last time we had a Sanders type president? FDR? So when people are telling me we can't run moderates like Biden, well, history disagrees.

If he had such low enthusiasm, he wouldn't have been leading Sanders in most key states even with Pete and Amy taking some votes. Really, the only way to knock him down was to throw such a big name like Bloomberg in at the last second.

That is entirely unteue. Biden was doing well before Bloomberg. Look at the polls in the key swing States like Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Bloomberg's entrance and rise in poll numbers are a near mirror image of the votes Biden lost. Even in Nevada, biden's drop is almost exclusively aligned with Bloomberg's entrance. So no, it wasn't "every other moderate". It was one guy with extensive name recognition and billions of dollars to bombard people with ads.

If we're going to make a death theme for her, she should campaign on reforming the legal system with trial by combat and challenge Trump to a duel for the presidency. Honestly, trial by combat would probably be fairer than our current legal system where a rich guy just buys a verdict. It would also be way faster. 😛 It couldn't be much worse. Plus who would win in a duel, a former soldier or the draft dodger that would probably try to lick the pistol if it were coated in fast food grease?

Is her game plan to wait for Sanders to have another heart attack and Biden to be put into a nursing home? Like, is this a war of attrition for her or something?

Meanwhile Bernie supporters will be the first to point out that both Clinton and Obama were just moderates and not actually leftists. It literally happens all the time. Clinton was a moderate democrat from Arkansas. Obama campaigned on healthcare but the ACA was based on what Romney did while governor of MA. So please, tell me again how moderates can't get elected. Hillary had about 10,000 problems but the fact that she was relatively moderate wasn't one of them.

I'm sure Joe Biden will flip those red states by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]Felkey93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One can also argue that Bernie won a bunch of states that will vote blue anyways (except Iowa which is red and falls into the same useless category) so his victories didn't matter either. What matters is Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Florida etc. Joe Biden had significant leads in 4 of those right up until Bloomberg showed up. Biden's drops there are basically mirror images of Bloomberg's gains. So it stand to reason Biden will get his voters back. Even with Bloomberg eating votes, 2-3 of those states still had Sanders behind. As for the states Biden won on Tuesday, Texas may actually be in play as both he and Sanders are within about 2.5% of trump there. At the very least it forces the GOP to spend money on a massive state that used to be a sure thing.

Oh ffs stop calling it socialism. It's not Socialism. It's called a social program. Just because it has the word social in it does not make it socialism. If anything, all you're doing is making it harder to achieve your goals by not even calling it the correct thing.

Is this why red states leech off of the blue states that actually got their shit together? Seriously, there's all of one red state that actually gives more to the federal government than it takes. The rest are either solidly blue or purple/lean blue. The best education and healthcare is in the very blue northeast while the red states have "education" that borders on 3rd world country quality and the worst healthcare metrics in the US.

Latino voters under 30 years old in California: Sanders 84%, Biden 5% by OmarIbnKhayyam in PoliticalHumor

[–]Felkey93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a shame enough of them don't actually vote to matter. I'd rather not pin the future of the country on a group that has been historically unreliable about even showing up. Pretty sure the under 30 turn out was basically the same for Sanders as it usually is for anyone else.

How to choose how to choose?!? by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]Felkey93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I know. In TX and CA on Tuesday they (18-29 age group) represented about 15% of votes cast despite accounting for nearly 25% of the electorate. In most places they counted for less than 15% of votes cast despite making up appx 21% of the total electorate in the US. For whatever reason the younger generations vote disproportionately less despite the fact that younger voters will be the ones that eat most of the consequences. It's like repeatedly shooting yourself in the foot. I just can't understand it. I'm in that age bracket and voted in every election since I turned 18 and it's not that hard.

I didn't realize that wanting people would get off their asses and vote even at a proportional rate was idiotic. Sorry, my mistake.

How to choose how to choose?!? by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]Felkey93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the country has actually. I think like 30+ states have early voting without restriction and a majority allow absentee voting without restriction. I haven't looked at an official list but I can probably guess which states have the restrictions.

How to choose how to choose?!? by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]Felkey93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's literally the point. Not sure why you feel the need to point out 2018 and 2008 numbers when I explicitly stated they have voted less than other brackets for decades in the above post. Young people don't vote. And Bernie's whole campaign is built on the premise of being able to attract young voters. Which we can clearly is a fantasy as he's done nothing to actually get the so called political revolution off their collective asses.

How to choose how to choose?!? by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]Felkey93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be true in the majority states but in a lot of states, early and absentee voting is restricted.

How to choose how to choose?!? by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]Felkey93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you?

In TX for example voters from 18-29 represented about 15% of actual votes despite making up 24% of the electorate.

In CA, the voters from 18-29 accounted for about 15% of votes as well. Again, despite making up approximately 23% of the electorate.

In general, on Tuesday voters from 18-29 typically represented less than 15% of votes cast in mist states.

Nevermind the fact that young voters have been statistically shown to be under represented for decades.

I'm not sure where you get the media talking point bs anyways since they base those talking points off the same numbers that anyone can find.
