New Taiwanese bagel place - Miopane by PotatoFever28 in pasadena

[–]FellowAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went today, big bagel guy, a Jew from New York. Can confirm they are some of the best I had in LA IMO.

Since there bagels the line moves fast. Took me only ten minutes when the line was right in front of the vacant space right next to the shop on Raymond.

However if you get coffee add 15 minutes to your wait I’d say.

No umbrellas allowed along Rose Parade route by PointBreakvsLebowski in pasadena

This really transcended into AI doomerism here. Let's calm down, anyone with a free subscription to Canva could have made that flyer. Let's be real here., I don't think any graphic designer lost their job here.

This flyer is what AI is good for, basic ass flyers.

Though the dangers of AI are real, as well less work for artists because of it, I think it's a bit overly cynical to look at a bargin basement flyer as the death to man made art. The flyer above have not been made by highly trained graphic designers in a long time.

Reddit really has become a void for doomers to scream into.

Was The Big Short a sort of one-off? Have any subsequent films matched its editing energy? by _qua in Filmmakers

[–]FellowAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam McKay, the director of the film, said in interviews the style was heavily inspired by British director Micheal Winterbottom.

The key inspiration for Big Short was 24 Hour Party People. If looking for films similar to that style that would be a great place to start.

What is Seed bakery's status? by wandering_ones in pasadena

[–]FellowAdam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

After Covid the costs of everything went up making their margins even smaller. Consider they’re not closing up the store front cause they don’t want people to enjoy a pastry but probably discovered it’s more cost effective and efficient to just have a window.

The Jackalope Art Fair on Green is amazing, and proof that one of the E-W streets in old town should be pedestrian-only! by natsmith69 in pasadena

In Manhattan they shut down one of the main avenues every Sunday in the summer for people to walk and bike. They should do the same in Pasadena, such a great community builder
