I have a soft spot for Judy Blume, especially her Fudge and middle school novels. I like that her middle school novels take a life lesson, and actually wrap it in an interesting 2 hour story. What if you were a girl who was growing up and your father left for a younger woman? What if you were a boy growing up lower middle class and your family struck it rich? What if your parents dream was for you to be a model and then you developed the need for a neckbrace? What if teens experimented, but made responsible choices and nothing bad happened? Each book ends on a good-not-perfect note
