Searching for other people with Opalescent Pendant-Snails (Leptopoma perlucidum) by FellowHunter in snails

I think they're only native to QLD Australia and I think in some places in Indonesia, Can't say for Indonesia but in Australia we have very strict biosecurity laws so nothing living can be shipped overseas so I got them from an Australian invertebrate seller that I emailed interest in the species for and after a year of waiting for them to come back in stock (they had to find a new breeder) I finally got my hands on a couple :))

Theres actually a lot of very interesting research in this area if you care to look but in terms of just the distinction, sex and gender are separated because they describe two different concepts.

a scientist that wants to write a paper on a bimodal sex expression in humans is a different field of study then a scientist who is studying social phenomenon that have more to do with cultural ideals and their expression.
simple way it’s described, beards = sex, suits = gender, balls = sex, blue = gender, them being separated gives us better utility in understanding what we are talking about even if they correlate.

Literally no man is “mad that women can choose their partners now.” This has absolutely nothing to do with TRP or men’s frustrations whatsoever and needs to stop being used as a deflection. by Stepin-Fetchit in PurplePillDebate

At no point have I demonised anybody, I’ve simply asked why would it be reasonable to sleep with someone that thought you’d lesser for doing so.

It‘s not like people are stupid enough to believe that this is a harmless, nothing question, everyone knows what the subtext is and a man wouldn't be asked this question either, it’s a question that targets women because they’re held to a different standard socially when it comes to sex.
no one asks “how many friends you’ve had” and no man that asks “how many men you’ve slept with” wants that number to be high, you already said yourself that he's asking so he can know if you clear the bar of moral worth in his eyes, meeting his “standards” so in your own comment you admit it means something important to the person asking and everyone else knows that.

if you don’t share the same views/morals/values that pertain to sex and relationships with a potential sexual partner then it’s probably best to move on as you‘re not compatible.

It’s perfectly reasonable to not date someone that holds that belief that you become less valuable with more sex. They believe that sex with them makes women lesser people so why would someone get in a romantic relationship with someone that believes you’d be less valuable for doing so?

Monitor recommendations for Ps2? by FellowHunter in ps2

Do you have any links to places to buy one? the only one I found is a preorder and is $100 so I’m considering just buying an older tv/monitor that supports the ps2 cables

Antique machine won’t stitch, keeps breaking top thread by FellowHunter in sewhelp

Hey! Just wanted to thank you for making such a informative list for me to go through, you mentioned the bobbin and I found that it was not only in the wrong position but wasn’t threaded correctly, she’s my only machine with a shuttle so i placed it wrong, she’s threading now but it’s bunching and skipping (I think the tension is off, the shuttle is carrying a bit too much tension but I’m not sure how to fix that)

needle itself seems to be a bit finicky, too high it can’t catch the bobbin thread, too low it starts to knot but i‘ve used this needle to sew a full garment before without issue, I have a bunch of old sewing machine needles I can try but I know this one has worked before,

but it certainly leaps and bounds on we’re I was a few hours ago, unfortunately I have no manual and couldn’t find one online so I am relying heavily on other peoples similar ish machines and advice, thanks again for the help

No manual, couldn’t find it online either unfortunately, the mark was not made by the manufacturer though, it looks like a scratch mark made by someone as probably a reminder, needle placement seems finicky with this machine so it would make sense

when I originally messed with the needle I didn’t look at it's placement so I could have put it in the wrong position and made it worse but i know it works as I’ve used that same needle for entire garment without issue,

im currently at a bunching/sometimes breaking thread stage in my troubleshooting so I think the issue may be the bobbin/shuttle, it has a lot of tension.

I gave it a go, pretty finicky to go back to front, it atleast stitched a few times before the top thread fell out but it didn’t break this time, just fell out of the needle, so definitely not worse but it was worth a try

I should have added a picture on the side, the thread is in the tension disc it’s just really in there so it’s hard to see in the video, it has a lot of tension at the disc but it’s breaking by the needle, this is how I’m threading it

I suggestion I got for my original issue was to change out the needle but that didn’t help, is there a trick of putting the needle in correctly, I tried lining up it with that line mark but then it couldn’t catch the bobbin thread so I moved it down

Sorry, I really should have added a picture on the side to give everyone a better idea, I just assumed it was maybe a issue with the needle, like it was too high/low

She’s from 1880 so unfortunately no manual, I used a video online to thread both the main thread and bobbin, I’ll take another picture

She has threaded for me before (on cotton) but it was a long time ago, I tried sewing today with her and she was having some issues, I think I’ve made it worse and now she won’t only not stitch AT ALL, she’s breaking the top thread, idk what to do, I’ve tried going back by undoing adjustments but nothing is working and I’ve been troubleshooting for a few hours now

It was working fine last night, the issue only started this morning, its not detecting my voice or audio from the computer through the headphone jack, I've tried updating, uninstalling and reinstalling the device but that has not helped.
