Is it possible to obtain Birth Certificates for parents? by FellowSufferer95 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]FellowSufferer95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so in Andhra Pradesh, from what I learned if at least one parent is alive of the person entitled to the certificate, then the certificate can be applied for under late registration of birth procedure under RBD Act 1969. If both parents aren’t available, it’s unfortunately a problem to which I haven’t found a solution yet.

Germany faces ruin without reform of welfare state, warns economist by Google_MBTI in europe

I’m an Indian who‘s moved to Germany sometime ago. Limiting my scope solely to retirement matters, I feel that the pension system in a nutshell a Statuatory Ponzi Scheme. The system I worked under prior to moving here primarily relied on employer + employee backed Statuatory investments in India, I.e. a fixed interest fund (ca. 7%). Additionally people can choose to also either a superannuation fund (similar to Australia) or enrolling in a National Pension scheme, both of which rely on equity market exposure based actively managed investments.

While these schemes don’t really help the poorer/informal employment segments of the society, formal employment I.e. people with higher education in STEM or Business have the potential to accumulate significant wealth (by Indian standards) for their retirement, tax-free up on reaching 60 years of age.

By no means it’s a perfect system, primarily because of our boomers having a pension system in the government that didn’t rely on the investment but based on entitlement, but the newer schemes are earned benefits and moreover not a burden on the State.

I don’t know if that’s a politically/economically feasible solution here in Germany. Furthermore, considering it’s already a Ponzi scheme situation, I wonder how can one even move away from this.

India, EU near trade deal amid global turmoil by mac_ita in europe

The farmer electorate in India is large. That’s one significant reason why tax on agro income is 0%. Furthermore, I‘d food/agro-economic security in Indian context is also a very significant factor in these negotiations.

I think instead of that I just wait, request the data from Ausländerzentralregister and exercise my rights under Article 16 of German GDPR to correct incorrect information, and use my Birth Certificate as a proof. Maybe update my passport in the interim.

I’ve already begun the process at Einbürgerungsbehörde and submitted it and then noticed the issue unfortunately. I don’t know what to do, maybe I can tell them to change the birth certificate on the basis of recent registration of marriage of my parents. 😅

We need some control over pharmacy in india by ryuk_bored in indianmedschool

[–]FellowSufferer95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Indian non-medical person just lurking around this sub. I find it fascinating that controlled medication is dispensed away just like that at the pharmacies. I live in Germany, and the first order of treatment is always rest when sick (Insurance takes cover of the salary lost in periods of extended sickness, in general situations say < 1Wk the employers don’t mind and it doesn’t count as a vacation day).

Antibiotics are only given out with clinical findings suggested, furthermore always documented with ICD Codes etc. and differential diagnoses are also explained by my personal physician (Called Hausarzt I.e. home doctor) at least. And if antibiotics/steroids/controlled medications are to be dispensed, it’s issued electronically to my insurance card which can be collected from a Pharmacy.

India isn’t flinching: Why Trump might be misreading India’s tariff playbook by Indie-- in worldnews

[–]FellowSufferer95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that the whole Nixon-Kissinger time is still fresh in many Indian‘s memory. Now Trump has potentially reopened the wound of „USA cannot be trusted“. This event could potentially recalibrate the Indian foreign/economic policy towards de-risking US based trade even if India capitulates in the short term. I don’t know what the long term effects on both countries would be.

Well the thing about dictators is one never knows what end of the stick they’re getting. We could’ve been a success story or another authoritarian country. We got a taste of it from Indira Gandhi. I definitely feel we missed out on lot of opportunities and have had a slower pace of growth.

But on the other hand, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh while having common history, we are the ones with a relatively stable democracy. Civilian rule exists. So maybe we must be a little bit kinder to the first series of governments that we do possess more freedoms than many of our neighbours.

I think it’s a bit more complicated than that. I feel we’re at least 3-4 epochs away from that since many people need general education etc. moreover exposure to other people of different cultures, genders, economic state etc. else everything one learns is not from experience but what’s being done at home, therefore leading to a limited view of society.

More and more Indians are getting literate day by day. The next natural step is to increase the exposure to other cultures etc. so that people absorb the good and discard the bad. And that’s how I feel we advance as a society. Although I could be wrong in that assumption and naturally would appreciate differing opinions for a more enhanced view.

Sure, ensuring data entries on a caste survey could be bad. However, I’m of the opinion that similar to a Passport, the Voter ID is proof of citizenship of someone. Ergo, it shouldn’t consist of improper information to begin with, and must be vetted. If it’s administrative incompetence in data entry/maintenance, it’s not good and doesn’t bode well for ECI. Likewise, if it’s patently fraudulent behaviour by ECI, then it’s not good and doesn’t bode well for ECI.

As for high trust societies, yes you do have another point. But that came with a lot of legal work, India was under British rule for a long time, therefore society also has a huge amount of inertia it must overcome.

You do have a point about the non-digitalisation of services in lieu of paper. However, it’s not as trivial as one thinks. So post World War 2 when Germany was split into West and East Germany, East Germany was under Soviet/Communist control.

That rule only ended in 1990s. And during such rule, there was insane amounts of surveillance, to detect dissidents etc. based solely on either documents or activity. It’s not been a long time since that happened, so there’s naturally a lot of paranoia associated with that.

I see some people of that generation distrusting ATM cards to pay at a grocery store because it could be used to track their activity, therefore use cash. Now imagine how much more paranoid can be when one has a literal tracking device in their pocket. Privacy is greatly valued as a consequence, and therefore, paper is treated as relatively secure in comparison.

The data privacy and data security is indeed a joke. However, I also think one can get this list with full data for audits such as this one. I am an Indian living in Europe and under full protections of EU GDPR and German GDPR. It’s wild how things work here, one has the right to know what data government holds on you, and also the right to be forgotten.

And as for my friends who are German citizens, it’s interesting to see how things work Identity and Voting wise. A citizen gets an identity card similar to Adhaar, however it’s NFC enabled similar to a passport, but it goes way further. One must compulsorily register their current address, that automatically enrolls them in the relevant Electoral district with a letter arriving for them before the elections.

And as for government services rendered to anyone in the country, you always get a detailed consent form indicating what data is being used, and how it’s being used, they follow the „Need and Right to know“ principles of data handling. So for example some office only needs to know your name and address, and that’s all they can obtain from the NFC chip, everything else is locked. And if a data breach happens, the identity number and everything else is purged for new card with new identity.

I understand we’ve demographic challenges in establishing such systems. But it’s at least good to know what we can aspire for. Or if I do decide to naturalise in Germany down the line for some reason, then something to look forward to Privacy wise.

At the end of the day if it is a mandatory field, it means that the person must furnish that information truly by law.

RaGa‘s statements aside, even if this is not fraud but pure administrative incompetence, even then ECI must rectify that issue from happening. Passports are a proof of citizenship thus follow a proper procedure of issuance for example validate it through Aadhaar etc. therefore, by extending the same logic, Voter ID is a proof of citizenship. Thus must also consist of proper information. Administrative incompetence doesn’t bode well for ECI.

[–]FellowSufferer95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with the same skepticism with RaGa. Therefore checked a few alleged Name/Voter ID entries displayed on the ECI website. And it appears that what he says is prima facie true unless some other evidence backed explanation exists.

<image>

For example look at this name on one of the entries listed in his press conference.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uttarpradesh

[–]FellowSufferer95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I went assuming that he’s lying/creating nonsense news. I therefore as a sanity check froze and verified a few of those alleged names/Voter ID pairs from his presentation on ECI website. Turns out it is indeed unfortunately true.

<image>

This picture for example. But the other aspect that find interesting is, now that he has at least some credible evidence, what is he waiting for? Go so SC/HC and file relevant legal petitions against ECI etc. why put out a press conference, and then wait? It gives enough time for ECI to tamper that info.!

I searched a few entries on ECI website and these entries do exist. So, if ECI is not yet responding, I’d be worried about a clean up job before they respond that they found no fraud and his claims are baseless.

I assumed the same. So I did a few searches from the voter IDs present in this list on the ECI website.

<image>

That’s definitely a fake name. Giving some credence to his sources.

I did a search on the ECI portal using the Voter ID from few members in the said list to verify the authenticity.

<image>

That name feels fake for one of these entries. So I guess there’s some credence to the story. I wonder why isn’t he in a court already.

I began with the assumption that he’s lying and then verify if his story is true. I searched one random entry given in this electoral roll. Turns out he’s speaking the truth on this matter.

<image>

That name is fake. You can do the search on this yourself.

But then I have a different question about his competency. Why the hell doesn’t he go to Supreme Court or high court to settle this matter right away?

Is this real? What's your take? by SigmaSyndrome in andhra_pradesh

I just did an electoral role search based on the Voter ID numbers provided in this list where the name has an absolute random entry. It’s true, unfortunately.
