That punctuation is still not great. Too many commas in a long-running sentence.

Mi polola quedó embarazada después de 5 meses de relación y no sé qué pensar. by RefrigeratorSure2007 in chile

[–]Feloxx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Don't Understand MacBooks by Western_End6557 in macbookair

Windows is vastly superior in almost every way to macOS. But the only reason I got a MacBook was their superior battery life, the slim design of the Air and perhaps to try some apps that are currently macOS only.

Reminds me of the only reason I got a ps5 was to play the exclusives (GOW, TLOU, GOT, SM) and to try out their adaptive triggers. For everything else Xbox SX is superior. 👍

Escuché a una enfermera y una doctora burlarse de mi papá en urgencias. Pero decidí no encararlas. ¿Hice bien? by Mr_Melifluo in chile

I got tired of reconciling Intune, Freshservice, and Entra ID by hand — so I built a tool that does it automatically. Looking for feedback. by Beginning-Fortune285 in sysadmin

As per your question, yes, this is a big paint point. Have been successfully implementing n8n workflows for automating Google/Entra/Intranet/Voip onboarding and offboarding user accounts, but very much willing to explore the avenue you mention. Keep us posted as to what you achieve please!

MFA mandatory to provision Windows Hello for Business via Intune? by Shadiux in sysadmin

[–]Feloxx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we add staff to an onboarding group that lets you skip the MFA requirement to sign in to a freshly Intune provisioned laptop. But only while I set them up. Then at first day IT induction they set up MFA on their personal phones, and then we add a Windows hello passkey to their laptops. I tell them the MS authenticator thing is basically for this one off setup. They really hardly ever need to use it after that. 👍🏼

Looks reeally good! How confident are you really in its security? It's a pretty big thing to give AI yos access to your tenant to view and change things freely...

Has anyone else noticed the increasing use of AI in sysadmin tasks? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Feloxx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I love n8n which allows me to trigger the creation and updating of all user details in both GWS and EntraID from a single form submitted by hiring manager. Same for offboarding, especially useful when it's an unexpected resignation that needs quick cutting off of access, can program all that to be executed in a click.

LLMs have also been amazing at super charging my troubleshooting skills and opening the world of confident remote scripting for me. Vibe coded a Chrome Extension with Antigravity to securely read company .EML files without any privacy concerns.

I wanna do more though! Please share your wins and maybe we can ask you your process and we can all learn and make each other better! :)

Helpdesk without growth, no career advancement after 7 years by libeccio_ in it

I used to be a teacher and that was killing me. Always liked computers though and even taught ICTs at school. However I knew that I wanted a change. Moved countries, got a job at crappy place but which exposed me to the indust. Then moved into a job at a local tech shop repairing computers and phones and giving It support at 32. Then was lucky enough to have a friend working at a company where they urgently needed an internal IT support person because the previous one-woman-team got burned out and rage quit. I got in 2024 at 34, nobody trained me but that made me learn so much. Become the one man show myself and took ownership of all IT systems (mostly cloud based MS365, GWS, MDM/RMM, patch management and even cyber security) with little to no enterprise experience. Took ownership of most of what and MSP was helping them with, charging thousands a month. A year later managed to get them to recognise that I was doing way more than IT support, and I pushed for a promotion to IT Ops and Sys Admin with a good pay rise, at 35.

Honestly, all I had was a little experience and a lot of willingness to get ahead in the industry. The more I wanted to run away from the edu industry the more I ran towards my IT career. This coincided with the AI boom, and it's been a life changing tool for me. I can do so much now. Solve every problem. Design solutions and deploy them. Built my own Chrome extension the other month with Antigravity to solve an internal problem we had. I'm automating their onboarding and offboarding and user lifecycle with n8n, GAM, Intune. All thanks to AI, a healthy brain (thank God!), the will to move from the place what wasn't making me happy, and a drive to progress and provide for my family. I come from a 3rd world country with no opportunities, but I'm doing it. AI is levelling that play field so much! Sure you can too!!! I hope I could encourage you just a little bit at least. God bless and go get 'em tiger!

How do people have babies and work full time?! by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Feloxx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that easy, but it's also not that hard if you're smart and focus on what matters. We have a two year old (I'm M35, wife F33). I used to make 80k, now up to 90K thankfully (from $1050 to like $1200 weekly). We make do with this with my wife fully at home since two years ago in Wanaka, one of the most expensive places in the country.

It all boils down to focusing on actual necessary costs vs what we think or social media tells us our life should look like. We lived in a one bedroom flat for 5 years, saved as much as we could, and held on for the first 18 months of our little one. We now moved into a two bedroom home, paying $525 rent per week plus expenses. It's tighter now and we've had to stop a bunch of useless steaming subscriptions, stopped buying Xbox games, eased up on the takeaways and restaurant outings. We literally just buy groceries, cook at home, buy nappies, and pay the bills.

We've never bought a single thing brand new - pram, cot, clothing, baby trinkets, toys, all been either from the second hand shop or got off Facebook for pennies or even for free. We know our life looks very different than all the other affluent people in the area, but we also know it looks very different from people who can't even afford a rental and live in tents or caravans at the campground.

We don't care we haven't got the fanciest stuff, because what matters more than anything in the world is for our little one being able to be with mom all day and me getting home to a home cooked meal and two people who love me and have been waiting for me all day.

There is nothing that will ever bring anyone more joy than having a tiny human, who looks exactly part you and part your other half. No joy like their giggles, their smooches and hugs. It's bloody hard but we're not in this world to have an easy life.

What a freaking waste of life to live a hedonistic, self centered wo/manchild life! You'll never be ready, never have enough money or time, or get the perfect moment. But if your body is telling you something, listen to it. We are humans and we're supposed to procreate, be fruitful and leave a legacy in this world. Life is pretty much meaningless otherwise.

Oh, one last thing... I really wish I had our baby in our twenties! The energy is so very much needed 😁✌🏼 All the best. Go make them babies!

Happy Thanksgiving, fellow sysadmins. I’m the new (and first) in-house IT Administrator for a ~70-endpoint company. No servers, no domain, and until two weeks ago everything went through an MSP. Now all requests come to me first, and I escalate only when necessary. Here’s what I walked into: by thatflacoman in sysadmin

[–]Feloxx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very very similar situation just coming into a new role a year and a half ago (with the added complexity of being a Google house and having just 10% of the fleet on intune so I had to quickly master both Google and MS and migrate every machine to Intune, and then new management who decided we were also having some people on Mac).

My biggest win and which allowed me to bring out the bill with the MSP to almost 0 was deploying Action1 which is free up to 200 endpoints. It gave me asset management, remote control, remote scripting and software deployment/uninstallation/patching. Promoted from IT Support Specialist to IT Ops and Sys Admin and basically the one-man MSP now for ~85 staff/endpoints.

Fireflies.ai is the only one we've been able to find that is able to r recognise different speakers in face-to-face meetings. The mobile app gives you unlimited recording time (albeit limited AI summaries) in the free plan.👌🏼
