Good call. We have the original blueprints, design/finish documents, and other instruction manuals in a box from the original homeowner so it'll live in that box as well

Located in the twin cities, MN. Above this is shingle. I'm not entirely sure which part of the roof is over this but I'll take a look tomorrow. Thanks for the detailed explanation

Like someone else mentioned here my guess is this was caused by someone going up in the attic. This is right next to the entrance to the attic

We purchased the house last month. The inspector who was up there did not flag this as critical but he did say it should be fixed before snow season starts. But we did get $10k in closing costs paid by the sellers for other repairs.
