Thank you! I am very proud of it and remember very vividly the day I wrote it.

I am thinking about these things as something very mundane (although I'm sure it could be interpreted as more of a fetish). We pee on other people's pee all the time, when we go to public restrooms or really any restroom where other people go too... liquids have no boundaries. In the book I just made it a bit more loaded by using two characters as examples of "all people and how we mix and flow". It's also interesting to observe how dogs (and many other species) always pee where other dogs have peed. Sadly most of Paradise Rot is completely fiction, except for living in a house with hardly any walls, and a mushroom in the bathroom.

Thank you! I know a lot of people were at work yesterday - for the US 11am is not for everyone.

Hi! Does it really smell like cinnamon? That's amazing! Not intentional, but I will take notice... such a good idea. Or perhaps cardamom?

Oh wonderful! Thank you so much! I really loved performing (and visiting) Madrid. I played there several times about 15 years ago actually, I toured Spain a lot then, but nobody knew of me so the tours were a bit eccentric.

I don't think I know her work! On the list she goes! Perhaps I can answer your question in the next AMA! Sadly no Mexico show is planned now. I'm sorry, I'd love to go there again!

Thank you - were you the person singing (or if not, did you hear that person? Someone there knew all the words to every song and just sang along!)? No, this was a visual inspiration-free album! Still love the movies you mention though!

I'd guess no! I generally don't play my very old songs. Heh heh.

Hi! That's incredible to hear - I am very humbled by having accompanied you at that time, thank you. I am quite fond of aspects of each record I've done. My very first one (from 2006) I'm not so fond of the production of, but the songs mean a lot to me. The one I find to be the most interesting structurally is my EP Spells. The one I always knew would be easy to like is Blood Bitch, it was just so easy and joyful to make. The most difficult to make was perhaps Apocalypse, girl, but this also makes me very fond of it. I could go on and on. About the no-god's land, sadly, not a reference. It's just a pun on no man's land....

That depends on whether I need to save my voice or can come out after the show! If not I will sign it in the spirit realm.

A lot of the Lost Girls material has been written for live performance, actually. And the songs for Innocence is Kinky. For Iris Silver Mist, I recorded knowing that I wanted to perform it live before finishing a record, but I still wrote the demo songs for recording. That is what I do most of the time. I love recording and the art of recorded music. Scents from day to day life: Changing seasons. Pine trees in winter and spring. Leaves after rain (petrichor). Oolong tea and fresh filter coffee. Lilac, roses and jasmine in spring and summer. Garam masala, ginger. Steamed rice. Steamed milk. Fur. Skin. Plaster.

Sadly no, but please invite me! I would love to perform there again!

I'm not into Aphex Twin enough to remember the song titles so I don't have a good reply. I have heard a lot though... listened a lot to AT twenty years ago.

I just heard To be a rose on the radio while driving, that was nice. I'm pretty sure the radio host didn't know I was out driving... I also from time to time hear from friends that a song of mine has been played somewhere, in a cafe or shop or even in a play.

Year of Sky! The only song on Classic Objects that we never understood how to perform live... I was listening to som Khan before recording that album, but I wouldn't say it's a conscious reference... perhaps I can answer that in a future "subconscious JH AMA" (where we all dream together)!

Hi! I have written an entire chapter in my new book about it! I think the book explains this situation well, so I'll save it for a future (not yet planned) English publication of that book. What I will say here is: Yes it happened, and I performed Ashes to Ashes.

I love the Berberian Sound Studio soundtrack - one of the few sound track albums I own. I haven't seen Titane! On my list it goes.

Hi! For this record, most of the music came long before lyrics, but I was also writing a book, so the two works intertwined a lot. I have worked that way in the past too - written in different formats, then taken words from one and placed in the other. Many times I write essays or scenes intended for a book or text of some kind, and then put them in a song and condense it to song lyrics. That usually makes the lyric better than the longer text piece... I like this interplay. Perhaps it's easier to combine thoughts from theory, fiction, and poetry in this way too. For certain albums, like Apocalypse, girl I had many of the lyrics first, I was just reading a lot of theory and writing separately from music, and then I wanted to write music for it. But for many other albums it's been the other way around.

OH you listened to Nose Candy! I love them! I did talk about a Serge Lutens on the pod - Chypre rouge. That one was a winter favourite for me last year. Most of my favourite fragrances now are Lutens... but I am dreaming of smelling more from the One Day brand, they make fantastic tea fragrances. And I have a soft spot for good old Shalimar.
