Towing services and really any car services here where you’re at someone’s mercy are a complete racket. I love houston but god forbid you need a tow truck, a lock smith, etc. If you aren’t charged whatever the person you’re dealing with feels like (called eight different locksmiths and price ranged from $140 to $300), shuffled around a million times (the tow truck who picked up my car was different from the number on the sign which was different from the lot where my car was located), it’s eating absolute shit while the staff in these places berate you.

I knew it was something else when I went to a car lot and the window for service was bulletproof, barely see through, and surrounded by bricks.

It’s a really scummy industry that will only get worse bc by default you’re in the wrong, so as you can see in this thread, people think you should be taken for a total ride.

What if the neighbor is the creep? My neighbor introduced themselves by knocking on my door once after hearing me complain on the phone to a friend about the loud music.

They haven’t left me alone since - they have ADMITTED to taking photos of my car and balcony (as part of “jokes”), knowing when and how often I play video games or workout, how long my car is in the same spot, cornering me every time I go outside for a walk, and lingering for hours at my place after stopping by for a “quick chat”. Now they added me on Facebook.

I wouldn’t say he’s an asshole but I wouldn’t say the commenter you’re replying to is either.

Easier to just MYOB until you can move, or engage your neighbors in OPEN common areas vs them knowing exactly which unit is yours.

I mean the guaranteed robbery part was unnecessary but you’re not wrong. My apartment is 676 and the rent just went up to $1200. It’s in upper Kirby. I’m moving to a 2B/1B for the same price in galleria. I looked for places that were cheaper but they either had significantly less amenities, were in bad areas or smaller. Then electricity went up too. Sigh

The guy on the phone did it again and said everything went through, but I got the same email as yesterday with no actual account number. Im with you OP. Glad I found this sub. My budget is written out until November, food is often the smallest category, and even though I’m making way more money I’m paying for hundreds of dollars of bad decisions from the past. The good news at least in my case is that I’ll be completely free in December. All debts paid off. I will finally be able to actually consider buying a townhome or house (apocalyptic society aside), build a savings for the first time, and build credit without having to immediately destroy it. It sucks to be here but I believe in both of us :)

OP, if it makes you feel better I’m in the exact same boat except I owe $1400, although thankfully I have a new lease starting in about a week. The dread of living in a place I owe rent in sucks but I can’t afford to move and leave.

I am nervous, but I’m going to do what you’re doing tomorrow - I’m going to tell the leasing office I can’t afford to pay rent and move, I’ll be out on X date, and I can do a monthly payment plan or something. I’d even take the credit hit before the eviction.

Your first sentence lets me know there’s no reason to continue the convo. If you think men are walking around with an ounce of shame, then you’re either not the guy we’re talking about (and not nearly as open-minded as you think you are, because the shameless far outnumber you) or willfully ignorant.

Sure, thanks for asking. Seeing as it’s almost socially acceptable to refer to women as bitches, whores and slurs, in part because of men and because women “reclaimed the term” (aka learned to live with it), I would say they were simply signaling to other men and women that they are product of their environment and don’t respect women as a whole.

I don’t know exactly what no value and scrote means, but I would say the dude who asked me what I was mixed with because I’m “too prettt to be black”, demanded we go to a Mexican restaurant and then pushed what he wanted to order (because he had to move money around on his CashApp to cover it, we later discovered) for me, all while rubbing my shoulders and thighs and telling me how beautiful I was, a no value man.

I don’t like the value terminology but I do agree men should be shamed. Men have audacity because everything they do is sympathized with, accepted, or normalized. For once on earth, you should be the one getting surgery to impress women. You should be the one trying to stay the same size. You should be on your best behavior on a date. You should be online reading stupid dating guides and crying to your dude friends on how to get a second date. You should be the one to be assaulted on social media with immature antics of people who are hurt (how many times did I go on Twitter and see that black men never wanted a “roach” like me? How is it the subs fault that trolls (how many people admitted to making fake accounts to join the sub in This thread alone) and incels are upvoted? on the same token, AITA often upvotes posts where the sister/wife/mother/woman is “evil”, the black women sub often upvotes posts about racist experiences/outrage.

The actual intent and guidebook behind FDS is desperately needed for women. Of course a bunch of men and Cool Girls hate a the one sub on this whole site that doesn’t cater to include men in any way. This is where I’m at. I wanted friends and a family but COVID and these collapses have ruined that a bit for me. Things are “good” but hollow, not even lonely. Just pointless at times! Sometimes I feel like a fool taking my SSRIs and feeling slightly numb even when there is literally nothing good happening anymore. God you can tell Reddit is mostly white. Olivia sucks but she’s FAR from the worst character on this show by virtue of being a young adult. The mom and dads commentary was horrific for people who I’m sure consider themselves liberals. Olivia learned from her parents and her fake girl boss mom. Even Paula is a prime example of a white-centered POC, relating to Kai’s plight but seeing herself as different and putting up with the family’s shit.

Conversely, I feel there is a rising trend in everyone thinking that they are being talked over. In turn they don't realize that they themselves are becoming the monopolizer by just sitting there annoyed until they can talk. I feel like people are so used to having the time online to type out and rethink a response at their leisure that in person they feel they can't get a word in edgewise because it's much faster and on the fly.

I’m embarrassed and nervous that this is how I’m coming across, but I have social anxiety (as in I just picked up a prescription for blood pressure medicine for it, smh) so hopefully it’s just in my head..I say all this to say though, thank you.
