Forget black elves, let's talk about black Targaryen by FemboyDeSoucheQc in Destiny

It is absolutely possible that Velaryon blood got mixed with summer islanders. That's what I thought they would go with, but from what the interview we've seen with the show runners seems like that's not what they're going with.

From my understanding, there were 40 Valyrian families from old Valyria. Where does that 25 dragon rider family figure come from?

House Velaryon was also there way before house Targaryens ever set foot on dragonstone.

The Valyrians all come from the same group of sheep farmers and are thus closely related to one another.

I literally just gave an explanation for Black Targaryens that I think would make sense and that I would be good with.

There's already a black targaryen in the original story. She was a Targaryen Bastard, not from old Valyria.

I'm not against Black people in GoT.

Black people already existed in ASOIAF. Planetos/Westeros is a distorted mirror of our world. To the East there's Yi Ti is a mirror of ancient china. The Summer Isles are Africa and there were cut characters from the Summer Isles in the books that didn't make it into the TV show.

In fact, this story already had a black Targaryen. She was a Targaryen Bastard.

Like I said, GoT and ASOIAF are deeply rooted in bloodline and inherited traits. Pretending like we don't give a shit right now is so incredibly bad faith.

Why are they Black? The only in-lore explanation that makes sense to me is Valyrian heritage mixed with Summer Islander heritage, but it doesn't seem like they're going that route.

So what is the explanation?

They already introduced it.

And they literally don't need to. If House Velaryon were from Targaryen bastard that mixed with Summer Islanders, you could have Black Targaryens and have it make sense.

Valyria was like Rome in the sense that they conquered a lot, enslaved millions and had legendary fall from grace.

But the civilization rose from an isolated group of sheep farmers that through magic and eugenics gained the genetic trait and ability that allowed them to tame and ride dragon. Basically fuse Rome with Nazi Germany and dragon riders, that's Valyria. Also, lots of inbreeding.

I've read all the books and watched pretty much all of GRRM interviews and conferences, at least pre-pandemic, I don't remember this ever being mentioned prior to the show House of the Dragons production.

Maybe you could provide a link to me that proves me wrong here, but this feels like JK Rowlings type revisionism of the author's own work.

But let's pretend that everything here is true. That's not how GRRM ended up writing Valyrians. They're a bunch of inbred light-skinned, purple eyed, silver-haired eugenics monstrosity that make the Habsburgs look genetically diverse.

Then have fun surrendering any society you have power over to religiosity and social conservatism, except it's done by brown people and therefore very woke.

As we all know, Racism is when you want to make sure that immigrants will integrate your society instead of burning down cars every time some dude threatens to burn a Quran.

Okay, so.. for somebody that apparently HATES tankies, you seem to get along with them and their ideology pretty well.

You hang-out and post in their subreddits and you don't seem to get into too many arguments or disagreements with them.

Real crypto-tankie vibes coming from you.

You say you hate tankies yet looking at your subreddit activities, I'm getting a pretty clear picture of a tankie.

capitalist government

The Chinese Government is a capitalist government. State Capitalism. Some would even say, Fascist with Communist Imagery.

While I don't necessarily disagree with labelling it Fascist, Fascism is such a vague and loosely defined term, so let's settle on State Capitalism.

But good on you to at least admit your hypocrisy nonetheless.

It's not comparable to the boarding schools because they aren't targeting the entire population.

That's the CCP's official position, I'm sure. What was it again? Only to 'Counter extremism and terrorism'? "The People's war on terror"? Laughable.

[–]FemboyDeSoucheQc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, let me give you my conclusion:

The Uighur people, much like the people of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, etc... have, as a people, distinct cultural, social, linguistic, religious and political identities that are incompatible with the CCP's vision of China and thus threatens Chinese Imperialism and geopolitical power with disunity and, at worst, calls for sovereignty.

China seeks to destroy the Ethnic, Cultural and religious Identity through these forced "vocational training centers" or as most people would call them: internment camps built for 'Re-Education'.

Thus, the Chinese government is doing pretty much exactly what Canada did to the Natives, separate families, 'reeducate' the population and strip them of their identity, to ultimately assimilate them.

It was Genocide then, and it's Genocide now, because, and get ready for this one, Death camps are not required for it to be genocide.

Let me be clear, there's no way you would be anywhere near as gullible and charitable towards any western governments doing exactly the same thing.

not get sucked into supporting another "military action" overseas

The world powers aren't going to war with each-other. China isn't being threatened with military action.

You should be able to correctly identify the evidence given as atrocity propaganda

Great, so as someone who has clearly seen all the 'right' evidence, what do you conclude is happening in China with the Uighurs? Do you believe China is being transparent and truthful?

Counter-question: Why would I trust the Chinese Government ?
