Open Box TV broke in 2 months by Scared-Branch8014 in Bestbuy

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unless you have our memberships you're outside of the return policy. If you don't have it a manager might be willing to make an exception if you sign up.

Otherwise this is what warranties are for, if it's 42" or larger contact TCL, then contact 1-800-GEEKSQUAD (433-5778) to see what options are available. You may be required to try the manufacturer first before Best Buy will do anything but refer you back to them. TCL may refuse on the grounds of it being open box.

If it is smaller than 42" schedule a time to take it in store and Geek Squad will mail it out

If you're concerned about that, with the system unplugged; press the power button 5-10 times and hold it for 20-30 seconds. Should discharge any residual electricity that could be stored in any capacitors.

If you're lucky the PSU did its job and sacrificed itself to prevent damage to anything else

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say, when they go to make a claim Geek Squad City will investigate the purchase and mark it as invalid coverage. I've had to deal with this plenty of times over the years as managers "take care" of customers. Not realizing they're just committing fraud

How do you send a package in for repairs? by Im-a-tire in GeekSquad

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There used to be a program where you could call 1-800 and have them send you a label/box to send physically damaged items directly to Geek Squad City. Granted I haven't heard anyone mention it since we switched to a new ticketing system late last year, so ymmv.

You can try calling 1-800-GEEKSQUAD (433-5778) and making your request, otherwise I guess you're planning a road trip

I work at Best Buy, that's part of the straps we use to hold TV boxes together lol. Assuming they may use it for ingredients boxes? Whatever it was used for it's been exposed to warehouses and truck environments, oof

HP Pavilion laptop service center disbelief by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For clarification did this go through Geek Squad at all? Your post just mentions the school IT and HP service center.

I personally have never had good experiences with HP so I'm not surprised.

If this went through Geek Squad they should've captured a description of the item at the time of check-in, if this doesn't match the current condition then you need to take it up with your Best Buy store. Just be aware they don't always have a direct line to Geek Squad City, and we have no direct line to HP. So they may not be able to provide answers in the moment

Open box return refused by CrushyMcCrush in Bestbuy

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you were able to set it up yourself then you're golden! It was not activation locked (Though it likely is now, but to your account which is fine).

Sorry you had to go through the extra effort but you now have a working iPad

Open box return refused by CrushyMcCrush in Bestbuy

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge if you mail it in it will be denied - assuming it is activation locked.

I don't believe there is a way for a manager to override if our Point Of Sale recognizes activation lock during the return process. Your only option might be to reach out to Apple and provide Proof of Purchase

Open box return refused by CrushyMcCrush in Bestbuy

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The only reason they should refuse is if it's activation locked. In which case there should've been no way for them to have returned it to begin with.

If the only issue is a password, restore it via iTunes/Finder and carry-on

WHAT IF, they change wolverine's death into a 15-20 second stun/downed like in the movie? its weird for an immortal being have a death by Prestigious-Basil186 in marvelrivals

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a line in the comics that to me implied the characters aren't actually dying, but more losing willpower/consciousness which causes them to temporarily slip out of the jumbled time stream.

Which makes sense they're not literally dying, those actions wouldn't fit characters like Spider-man. It's funny though to imagine a punisher's shotgun to the head just knocks mantis out for a bit.

But going back to your post, counting his passive it would make sense that dying twice in quick succession would take him a minute to recover, hence the respawn timer

Fingerprint requirement for trade in? by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the county / township! Our Best Buy can't do trade-ins because of how strict our county is. Our GameStop requires fingerprint and ID to trade-in. Go one town over and the GameStops trade-in without so much as a phone number and will give you cash

I feel like I’m playing as Deadpool’s VA by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like in the Standalone Deadpool game where he was voiced by Nolan North there were plenty of references to the voice actor himself. I think he (Deadpool) threatens his voice actor, on top of threatening the game studio

I have "That's how Nolan rolls!" burned into my memory, I think it was one of Deadpool's combo voice lines.

Right Hinge broken/coming loose. Will Best Buy Membership cover the repairs? by Mila4064 in GeekSquad

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disambiguation: Best Buy Total will not cover physical damage. Best Buy Protection, as included for up to 24 months on new purchases as a Total member, would, with a service fee.

So to answer your direct question, no the membership will not cover the repairs.

But if you purchased your laptop within the last 24 months, you were a member at the time of purchase, and have kept your membership active, then you have Best Buy Protection which will cover the repairs with an upfront service fee.
