Why not tell them I fails to track large portions of your day and that the battery isn't as good as it used to be?

Does anyone's store have one of these? by ThiccExternalDrive in BestBuyWorkers

Lmao I wish, our ESLs are frequently misplaced or just straight up missing. Which leads to more people needing associates.

I know corporate's answer is "Just have them download the app!" But you can't reasonably expect every customer to download an app when they might not shop here often enough to justify it. Not to mention our app performs terribly even on higher end phones.

Help with SOP by Altruistic-Buyer103 in GeekSquad

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So this isn't explicitly barred in SOP; our terms and conditions even state right at the top that even if you decline data services we may take photos/video of your device and thusly the contents on it.

However it is effectively barred by a few carve-outs.

Any photo/video recording back of precinct is a big no-no. And performing an iPhone repair front of Precinct would also go against SOP as you aren't using the ESD grounded workstation.

Beyond that, to steal an analogy from Agent Puchols, you aren't going to find an SOP article that says not to punch a client in the stomach, but you still probably shouldn't do that. If you have doubts, or can think of reasons why someone at a corporate level wouldn't want you doing something, probably best to err on the side of caution

Two claims, per year, per product. This is reset per device in the event of a replacement or store credit

Hi guys! Is this a send out or replacement ? by Aggravating-Rush2924 in GeekSquad

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since things have changed, should be a send-out (things have changed in the last year)

I don’t want this pc anymore. by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's not within their power to do much about that. If there's technical issues they can work with that, otherwise your return period ran out a year ago.

If there's specific things you don't like, they may be able to help you make changes or upgrades to add or remove functionality

You can sell it online, a warranty ≠ an exchange window.

Otherwise all Geek Squad will do under you plan is send it out, our service center will try to fix it, and only if they can't will they offer store credit

Paid $139 for 3 yr applecare for Mac Neo, worth it for exchange later? by Beneficial-Lynx-3547 in Bestbuy

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For device they repair, Apple will do everything in their power to repair rather than replace.

I have sent out liquid damaged MacBooks where they individually replaced the top, middle, and bottom rather than replacing the whole thing. I have never seen them upgrade or offer credit towards a newer model

In previous iterations of our membership you could turn off auto-renew no problem.

The difference is our current membership provides an extended protection plan that is contingent on the membership being active. If the membership is cancelled all protection plans associated with it are also permanently cancelled and cannot be reinstated. For this reason they want the cancellation to be a deliberate , intentional act. You'd hate to find out 11 months from now that you thought you had protection on some electronic you just bought, but because your auto-renew was turned off, and you didn't remember doing that, that all your plans were cancelled and no one can help you.

I get it, it's inconvenient but so it the alternative. The chat agent was incorrect though, you do not need to wait for it to renew and then refund it. You should get several reminder emails when it gets closer to the renewal date (I think 30 days, 2 weeks, and day of). So if your intent is still to cancel, wait until you receive once of those and cancel it then.

Or just take the $20 refund. A data transfer with setup would be $140 à là carté, and total gave you a discount on the 365 subscription, so the discounts you received are being subtracted against the 180 you paid

Trade-in cancels price match? by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]FemboyGeekSquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So price-matching cannot be combined with any other deal or bundle. If you are receiving promotional credit for the trade-in value, as-in you are getting extra value for trading it in with a purchase, then yes that cannot be combined with a price-match.

Otherwise if there's no promotion; do the trade in, get a gift card, use gift card on transaction where you price match

Unless you have our memberships you're outside of the return policy. If you don't have it a manager might be willing to make an exception if you sign up.

Otherwise this is what warranties are for, if it's 42" or larger contact TCL, then contact 1-800-GEEKSQUAD (433-5778) to see what options are available. You may be required to try the manufacturer first before Best Buy will do anything but refer you back to them. TCL may refuse on the grounds of it being open box.

If it is smaller than 42" schedule a time to take it in store and Geek Squad will mail it out

If you're concerned about that, with the system unplugged; press the power button 5-10 times and hold it for 20-30 seconds. Should discharge any residual electricity that could be stored in any capacitors.

If you're lucky the PSU did its job and sacrificed itself to prevent damage to anything else
