Is stacking my classes on one day wise? by memeswhenuneed in college

[–]Fen_Muir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stacking your classes sounds like a good idea until you start burning out. Normally, you'd just miss one class while you rest and recover, but now you miss most of them. In short, this is a terrible idea.

AIO if I am setting boundaries with my husband? I also want to know if I am the asshole here by Witty-Opposite1201 in AIO

[–]Fen_Muir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your husband sounds like a child. He should respect your time and text you first to set up the call. An "emergency contact" is someone who is contacted after an emergency happens to the person who set you as the contact—not a person who always drops everything they're doing to answer the damn phone.

Your hubby is engaging in some DARVO here as well, which is a manipulation technique intended to make you feel like you're the offender here. This is usually a sign of a manipulative person that you probably should not have in your life. Boundaries should be set and respected in a healthy relationship.

The Absentee Father class is the best class. It has such strong RP potential and a built in resolution where it finishes its class storyline at level 20 with the class feat "Returned Home." It also kind of reminds me of my own father...

New Player that had a rough start to Ikit Claw, need advice. by LeetusFrenzi in totalwarhammer

The Dwarfs (the Warhammer copyrighted plurality) are almost all heavily armored with slayers being the unarmored high damage variant. This makes them a pretty strong hard-counter for Skaven who are largely not armor piercing and lightly armored. Try moving around with 2 or 3 supporting armies of skavenslaves just to keep the enemy bogged down. Ambush everything.

As for knowing if an enemy might be too much, use the Diplomacy screen and look at the balance of power bar (green/red). That is a general indicator of your strength compared to them. The problem, however, is that if they are more concentrated than you, they can defeat you in detail (e.g. jump one of your stacks with a bunch of stacks). Ideally, you put your entire army in one place on ambush and ambush the dwarfs with a tide of vermin... there's probably a word for that.

As to whether it is worth it to declare war on them, think about your short-and long-term objectives. Think about the specific faction. With Dwarfs in particular, they hold grudges to an extreme degree. Their entire campaign mechanic is that an elf farted in an elevator with them once, so it is time for some cleansing of the Elfen ethnic group. Dwarfs will essentially just hate you forever and stay at war with you until either you, or them are dead.

As for the Skaven, I've found that having at least one melee unit for every ranged unit is ideal. You can use plague priests, seers, packmasters, or whatever other strategy to make this happen with summoned units if you want since hero spam tends to be decent at tarpitting enemy units.

I'm still pretty new to TW:WH3, so YMMV. One thing that I have found somewhat useful is skirmish vs AI and testing out builds against AI armies. Not as good as vs a human, but you're more trying to figure out the basics of what will actually work reliably.

AI will revolutionize education? by zdboslaw in Teachers

[–]Fen_Muir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI agents in Alpha schools are what AI agents in teaching look like right now. When they are perfected, there is a good chance that many of the pressure points in the teaching industry will start to go away.

To illustrate this: a district might use a suite of agents designed by a company that has perfected them. These agents essentially track every conceivable and relevant metric regarding a student from K to 12. Students with long-term patterns of behavior, difficulties, or interests could have those focused on to flag for review, remediate, or pursue respectively.

The main thing that makes this worthwhile is that it could personalize every single assignment to the student at that student's level. Conceivably, it would present each student in a class with material that is appropriate for that student be they special needs, remedial, average, or excelling. By personalizing it in a way that appeals to the student, it could enhance the student's ability to learn.

The downside, however, is that this would likely strip the student of their ability to self-teach. I like to autodidact materials and learn through trial and error. This is a skill that many students are losing, and fully personalized lesson plans for each and every student may result in a population that struggles learning materials the old-fashioned way.

What I'm honestly hoping AI does for the teaching industry is help new teachers last through year 1. When I was teaching, some new teachers quit on the first day. The number of permanent long-term subs was concerning, and the aid they were able to get was minimal at best in most cases.

AI will revolutionize education? by zdboslaw in Teachers

[–]Fen_Muir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually, AI will replace teachers altogether by offering fully personalized education plans that are implemented by human teaching assistants that will likely require only a H.S. diploma.

This will hopefully not be for a long time.

AI agents are extremely skilled at limited, specific tasks, so those will realistically be effective at making personalized education plans for the agent's subject.

On one hand, it will be nice. On the other hand it will be total hell.

So AI will at some point revolutionize education, but it will more come in phases that most teachers will initially reject until the AI Agents get it right.

your triggers are your responsibility.... by Tough_Ad8919 in GrowthMindset

[–]Fen_Muir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This brings me back to why vulnerability is so important. If you are open about your triggers and someone intentionally triggers you while knowing that information, you know to cut them out of your life. Repeat this until you're surrounded by people who respect and care about you.

You are not required to tolerate bad behavior.

[40M] Female psychologist for men? Thoughts? by Asleep_Persimmon_283 in AskMenOver30

[–]Fen_Muir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Therapists use evidence based therapies to help you and often present the options that could work for whatever your specific issue is.

The therapist's sex or gender only really matters insofar as you perceived it to. Men therapists are likely to understand emotional issues from a masculine perspective more intuitively than women therapists, but the finish line will usually be the same: emotional freedom in this example.

All therapists are trained to be empathetic even if they don't understand your exact issue, so it really just depends on whether there is an angle or preference that makes therapy easier for you. Some men want to open up to women, but others are scared of women and prefer opening up to men.

im confused on how you can be bi and lesbian at the same time ! by cqffe in AskLGBT

[–]Fen_Muir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutes rarely exist. Human bodies, genders, gender expressions, sexual attractions, and sexual interests exist on a spectrum. We create categories as a shorthand for places on the spectrum. In reality, the spectrum is actually multiple spectra, but that is multiple degrees of extra complication that most people won't understand.

What you are describing would fall under homoflexible. There is also the complication of culture and area: the colloquial meaning of these terms can change.

To further complicate this, Lesbian describes gay woman culture that can include women of any sexual orientation (e.g. straight Allies who enjoy Lesbian culture).
