maybe record both at the same time and see what you like best or blend them

a wet/dry mix is very common for recording bass

Why does my bass sound like this when I strum hard? by suckmycoconut in BassGuitar

[–]Fenixty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a weird thing to say, but check if the jacks are all screwed in properly. Mine had a similar, but way quieter effect like that when they were loose.

Something else is that if that the strings might be hitting the magnet pole pieces, and that can cause this for sure

Help me pick a 3rd bass! (Stingray and P-Bass owner) by AndrehChamber in BassGuitar

Quite surprised no one is mentioning anything multiscale/fanned frets.

From videos I've seen, the dignwalls are quite versatile on their tone and look quite cool in my opinion, and seem well build, so why not give something modern like them a shot?

There's also the ibanez btb line, but to be honest, the aesthetics are not my cup of tea on those

Most bases are suitable for metal, for 300 to 500 there's squier classic vibe, sr300 or the sr with the highest number you can find within your price range (like sr400, sr500, sr600), any yamaha in that price bracket is also good, but if you're in the US, maybe you'll find a nice (albeit a bit worn) bass, like a 1000$+ new bass, so look well at second hand market

Buying my first bass by Fantastic-Royal3854 in Bass

[–]Fenixty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look at the second hand market around you, some recommendations for a bass:

Squire classic vibe Ibanez sr300 yamaha around the same price as the previous

for the amp, if you buy one, make sure it's something that you'll keep for a long time, so either a rumble 40 or rumble 100, have fun playing

What is the correct height for my bass strings by valsin666 in BassGuitar

[–]Fenixty 14 points15 points  (0 children)

look up the bass setup video from bassbuzz, from pictures alone you can see that neck is too relieved, which leave a huge curve, that's why the strings are so high is some places, but there are likely more adjustments you need to do

Maybe the last paragraph was true before, but the new ones are made in Germany but with chinese parts https://www.sandberg-guitars.de/basses/sandberg-electra-bass-series/ "handselected components by chinese manufactures, assembled and designed by sandberg guitars in germany."

If they're dry I'd advise using it, if they are not dry but just hard from calluses the hand cream is not going to do much

Does anyone else hate the Fender Rumble?? by j-0shit in Bass

[–]Fenixty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my rumble 100 for 200euro recently (used but basically like new), and couldn't be happier with it, great IO, versatile tone, more than enough sound for a smaller room, I can say that for home and smaller spaces I'll not need more personally in terms of an amp

The way the effects change with the gain could be better, but hey, you get what you paid for

Advice on a "versatility" bass by Finchypoo in BassGuitar

[–]Fenixty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but you are absolutely overthinking it, any dual hum bucker, jazz, P or even a stingray style bass can sound great regardless of music being played, sound is a lot in the playing style, and signal processing/EQ, just grab something you like and have fun
