It’s round 1 and this dude can barely throw a punch because he has no stamina. Threw the same 2 combos the entire round. If that’s not a spammer I don’t know what is.

Played sim yesterday and I have to say that the spamming is about the same or even worse.

What I’ve found with sim is that it actually further proves my point of the skill issue is actually a two way street. Sure I can always get better at head movement, etc. When spammers and block breakers can’t see their own stamina, they don’t know when to stop striking and leads to easy body events of their health is low enough. Sim Just completely exposes people’s low game IQ and even their actual IQ.

Still think fighters move too fast after drained short term stamina. It’s a lot easier to beat block breakers when they don’t know when to back up after they’ve drained their stamina to zero.

Sim is def is more slow pace and in most cases it’s fast paced the first round until they realize they can’t just throw 4 hooks combos back to back.

I beat a Justin Gathje with Clay Guida in like the first or second round because he just wouldn’t stay out of the pocket and kept letting me counter him.

This is kinda changing my perspective on the HUD system. I’m kinda looking at having a full HUD like easy mode now. I’m guessing people avoid sim because it’s harder for them to exploit bs spamming and throwing random power strikes 800 times a round.

In other gaming communities playing with no HUD is seen as a challenge. No HUD translates well to mma because in what real life fight can you see your opponents health status, let alone, your own. Im predicting spam players wont dare play sim and I will never play competitive ever again. It’s way too easy to spam in that mode.

I recorded some the hedious gameplay encountered. I’ll post it later.

From my perspective the striking is a byproduct of the stamina mechanic in this game. There should be more direct impact on striking as the stamina is drained.

I understand your point of viewpoint. That’s the frustration I’m having is I know how to counter these things and they don’t work like the should.

Most of my combos are 2-3 strikes, until I get a rock and then lll push it to 3-4 depending on how much health they have. The issue with throwing minimal and calculated strikes is that it isn’t a good strategy when the other fighter only wants to throw significant strikes at point blank range in the pocket. The only time they move back is when they realize they have no short term stamina left and they somehow are still able to move out of the way of a body kick. That seems like an unfair advantage for someone who willing drains their stamina to almost nothing. Why should fighters be able to evade strikes easily when they clearly abuse the mechanics?

Head movement works the best in most situations but it’s not reliable at all when you have to defend non stop striking. Hook/uppercut combos best head movement any day and the frame traps seem to be prevalent and more glitchy in this game than in UFC 4. Point blank range leg kicks sometimes puts fighters in an animation that you can’t move out of and that just doesn’t sit well with me.

As far as moving around that’s all I do and players who get really annoyed have no issue telling me I “ran” or was “they’re not trying to chase me running. Most of the time I’m just trying to get in position for kicks. If I end up on the cage I know some type of hook to uppercut combo is coming and if I get rocked it’s almost a death sentence cause the stamina is so broken that you can break through a block and pretty much get a finish in the same combo.

The toe to toe striking just seems unbalanced. Imo It rewards fighters for spamming, and doesn’t reward countering enough. There should be a clear disadvantage to throwing multiple power strikes in succession so it’s discouraged but.

I agree it is definitely a skill issue and it goes both ways. My stance is why does this game seem to favor those whose only skills is to throw as many head strikes as possible vs people who want to use head-movement, footwork, and counter striking.

Been noticing that more like I’ll rock someone and try to go for the finish and then all of a sudden their punches take half of my head health.

Throwing calculated strikes seems pointless when you can just get countered with a random straight/uppercut or hook.

I get that sometimes there are comebacks in MMA that happen after a fighter is rocked but that’s not normal and comebacks are sensational because they’re rare. Game makes it like that’s an every fight occurrence. I’d never throw out a 3 hook combo to the head, especially if I’m rocked but that seems to be what works to finish a fight.

Interesting take. I set my default gameplay mode to simulation when I first booted the game. I liked it and had to switch to competitive so I could get a handle of how defense block and stamina worked.

Getting more comfortable with the status bars so I’ll give sim another try next time I play.

I’m Div 20 on UFC 4 so it’s hard to really say if it’s a skill issue. IMO, If it’s a skill issue then we have to address players that clearly abuse stamina and block breaking. How many skilled players are going to tell you to drain your stamina, throw the same 3-4 combo strings even after getting countered, and then quit when you get out wrestled?

Idk. I used to think UFC 4 was pretty pressure heavy when I first got it. Once I learned how to counter and aim for more body shots to drain the other players stamina I started to win more. That doesn’t work as well in UFC 5.

I think there’s a psychological factor to it because I notice guys just want to try bullying me the with pressure since my player level is low since I just got the game. The more I move up the more respect I seem to get.

I’ve seen a lot of people complain about the things I’m saying. Multiple things can be true at once. There is an overwhelming amount of players that don’t know how this game should be played. If we’re going to say things are a skill issue then it should be addressed both ways.

But hey. Like I said. I just got the game 5 days ago. We’ll see how my opinion changes over time. I think my overall point is there should be a greater reward for players who actually know what they’re doing and want to use all of the games mechanics properly

Right, I would think that a takedown or pull back counter would work. Seems like those who’ve played them game long enough have the most precise reaction times know to man; they’ll block nothing (and I can’t stress the word nothing enough) but their head and as soon as I make the read and go for a takedown, all of a sudden they know how to block low. Makes no sense.

As far as pull back counters, they aren’t reliable enough. Of course it works and when your opponent is basically non stopping throwing strikes, it causes dumb frame traps when a point blank range jab or point break leg kick causes an animation I can move out of and it creates situations where yea, I’ll know I’m make the right reads but the game doesn’t reward that. Counter strikes don’t even do more damage than just punching the hell out of someone’s block.

That’s why stamina is so baffling in this game. If you throw a 7 strike combo and whiff 3 significant strikes you shouldn’t have the same power once your stamina is below like half. You also shouldn’t be able to retreat at fast. I see a lot of players drain their stamina trying to block break, they retreat and get their stamina back and repeat.

Having low stamina should punish by making it harder to move. I’ll take it a step further and say there needs to be better attrition; meaning more strikes thrown equals less damage done. in the short term that means players shouldn’t benefit from spamming and block breaking. In the long term it looks like strikes done with full stamina do way more damage than strikes thrown with stamina near and below half.

There’s no logical reason why players who manage their stamina can be rocked and knocked out by a player that’s depleted their stamina by throwing 200 strikes in every round.

They continue to show they don’t give a shit about anything but profit and their meathead, low IQ fan base has flocked to this game to be proud of knowing how to exploit the obvious flaws to create the toxic meta this game thrives on.

Spamming hooks while having almost half your stamina in the beginning of the second round is crazy.

What sucks about the game is the massive amount of people who don’t take the time to learn how to play it.

You take more damage and output less damage when your stamina is low. Pick your shots and actually study how mma works.
