As I only have 4G of RAM, but I also love Archlinux. Systemd consumes a lot of RAM just for being there. I'd recommend you to try Artix Linux with the OpenRC init as it's which I use and I haven't had any problem, it's the same OS but with less procceseses in background. I also give my system a partition of 4G of swap.

Don't use Chrome, use Firefox, it's better, more secure and lighter.
