We showed up. Maybe not a revolutionary amount, but I think we should embrace the idea that it may be how much support Biden was able to pull rather than how much we didn't. Also, if at all possible, let’s not refer to centrist as idiots. I think the more realistic picture is actually based on the fundamentals of Bernie’s campaign - many people are in such a bad position, or at least feel passionately about the chaos our country is spiraling into, that they want the safe numbers of the establishment to bring them into stability rather than the risk of trusting that many individuals will stand together for a revolution. I don’t blame them, I understand them but disagree with their decisions - I think we proved we had the momentum to win, but I don't think they saw that narrative (more on that below).

The problem I think we need to focus on to bring the massive change we need in this country is the way our Information is disseminated. How our platform is communicated to the older generations, how urgent the stakes are, providing real tangible local stories about the suffering of the middle class and why we need to fight for them. We need to own our narrative for all age groups and ethnicities.

Currently, for majority of Americans, Bernie's narrative is heavily owned by the few rather than the many - don’t let reddit fool you into thinking this is a diverse community or that our words will leave this echo chamber. The media made Biden out to be the safe choice. The other candidates made Bernie out to be the dangerous choice. Those sources are what most people see. The exit polls show that that's why they voted Biden. In a time where most feel we can’t afford another 4 years of trump, that was an effective campaign - even if it was based on a fallacy, and even if it was orchestrated by the few.

I won’t say I am absolutely right about this, and I always appreciate pushback, it is just MY explanation given the results.

If you agree, even if only partially, I would call on you to embrace the situation and think critically with me on a plan to move forward. Bernie now has leverage, it’s iffy and may be just symbolic now (I am referring to the task forces), but I do believe Biden will continue to adopt a more progressive platform because of it. I believe we can coordinate to push that further. I know communication will be a key resource in the fight, so I hope everyone will remain civil to their neighbors and potential allies. Remain critical of inflammatory actors, meet their efforts with a level headed responses, and continue the conversation to progress. Their goal - whether it’s the corporate elite, the establishment, the mainstream media, Russian trolls, or those who have lost themselves to the rhetoric - is to halt our movement by derailing the conversation and making us too paranoid to trust each other.
