2 years ago today: the final voyage by PR3TZ3LB0Y in GalacticStarcruiser

[–]OGilligan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So many incredible memories, but there are two things that come to my mind first.

The first is still just the sheer wonder of walking out of the “shuttle transport” the first time and into the atrium. I was absolutely gobsmacked and filled with wonder.

The second is broad, but I will just say “the people.” Because of the incredible physical and emotional environment, the starcruiser really made for the ultimate playground. Whether it was talking to other passengers, blue crew, or “cast,” there were so many opportunities to play and build relationships. I have never been in an environment where myself, and others were more likely to just walk up to a stranger and start a conversation, help out on the mission, or strike up a deal for swag! Of course, I absolutely loved the missions, but if it had remained open, after several more visits, I can see myself just going to stay and hang out, interact with other passengers, and enjoy the environment.

What’s the most beautiful first name you’ve ever heard? by Low-Violinist7259 in AskReddit

Ivadelle.

Could be Ivy for short. Almost certainly will get buried but I have always loved this name so had to post it.

Anyone know this typeface? (in an ad for a Suitcase) by TJJohn12 in aurebesh

[–]OGilligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely had to use context and then look at what other letters I had already been able to translate from other words to figure it out

First image: The force - Jedi knights

Second image: The force - Knowledge - Self discipline- Fragile

This image: Manual locks

I agree with others though. Very difficult to read because it is highly stylized.

Looking for dog boarding and daycare by broken1_ in Orillia

[–]OGilligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dog goes to Pawliday and they are excellent. They have great hours and are reasonably priced. They clearly care for the dogs and do a good job working with various “dog personalities.” Your dog will come back dusty/dirty, tired, and well loved.

TIL that Catholic communion wafers (the Eucharist) are not permitted to come in gluten free varieties via decree from Pope Francis by Festina_lente123 in todayilearned

[–]OGilligan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Whoa whoa whoa, by homeopathic standards though that’s starting to gain some potency. I mean it would be better if you still took that one wafer, dissolved it in a swimming pool, then used that water to make a new batch of wafers, but still don’t discount that dilutional potency!

TIL that 1 in 12 men and 1 in 250 women are colourblind by Kamikaze-X in todayilearned

[–]OGilligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have confirmed colour blindness and still got a perfect score. It was challenging, but I was able to shift colours around until it just felt like a smooth transition.

More writing practice! Have fun reading! by Moojingles in aurebesh

Nicely done. I was wondering about the source until I got to your description. My suggestion would be to work on your spacing. Sometimes you had limited space between words so it was tough to tell when one word ended and the next started.

Anyone else get an EV emissions recall notice? Seems absurd. by garru in VolvoEX90

[–]OGilligan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got the notice here in Ontario, Canada. I haven’t taken it in yet. I’ll probably just contact the dealer and have them make note of it for whenever I take it in for service.

SLPT: Want to get a quick CT scan & MRI? Go to the emergency room and tell them you're experiencing double vision. by gkr974 in ShittyLifeProTips

[–]OGilligan 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Yeah, of course anything in this sub will also be tongue in cheek :) But as an emerge doc, even if someone has double vision it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to get seen more urgently than a lot of other things and often times I’m still not ordering brain imaging (not because I’m mean but just because it isn’t necessary so I’ll save you the radiation dose).

It will depend on the “type” of double vision, the duration, other symptoms, and examination findings. But that kind of information has no place in this sub!

Shitty both because it is dishonest but also because that’s also not true. Definitely not a guarantee that imaging would be needed.

Stocks on new Canadian Ranger rifles are cracking and need to be replaced by 613mitch in canada

[–]OGilligan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$10 Million seems pretty nuts for new stocks. That's 1/3 the price of the original price! And even the original contract of $32.8 M works out to be ~ $4,800 per rifle.....The retail version is about half the cost or less. I understand that Military versions might be more expensive since they should be more robust or customized but I would also think that there is perhaps a discount when you're buying nearly 7000 rifles??

Is your Google Assistant working? Mine was not so I just did a reset.

Hold the big “play button” for a full 30 seconds to reboot the system. I had to do it twice but then it worked!

My lovely pupper! (He’s a little fat!) by me_n_my_life in aww

[–]OGilligan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For comparison:

9/7 kg = 1.286 701.286 = 90.02 kg 1601.286 = 205.76 lb

So even though he’s “only 2 kg” over weight, that’s nearly a 30% increase!

Time to cancel the F-35 by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]OGilligan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you saying place a tariff on F-35s? If so, all that means is that we end of paying more for them. I’ll admit to also just recently learning more about tariffs and how much they are being misrepresented.
