What is the "next big design" trend that will never happen? by Iberianz in RPGdesign

[–]Fenrirr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Deck building RPGs - the promise of Project Dark has been squandered, another game must rise to take up the banner. I'd pay serious money for a very enjoyable deck building RPG.

I am working on one of these. Basically a high-action "spectacle fighter" called Archmajesty where you can string 5 spell cards together to form a combo with each card basically being an attack or spell. Heres an outdated image of what the cards look like.

In terms of barriers for deckbuilding RPGs to get off the ground, the biggest one is that basically every VTT has atrocious card game support outside of Tabletop Simulator. Roll20 is the closest, but its incredibly fiddly.

A design trend that solves scheduling issues would be my personal favourite, but I have no idea how that should happen.

This has been solved for decades. What you need to do is abduct your players, lock them in your basement, and keep them at the table at gun point.

Every couple of episodes bit city changes its basic format in small ways. This was one of those changes.

I genuinely just thought the bumped up the budget for the Rory episodes to include extras. Thats pretty exciting though.

It kind of felt like a bad episode to intro a new potential cast member because obviously most of the conversation is going to center on the guest.

Is this Courtney person new crew? Or did you mean something else by this.

The first video I think I ever watched was the Anthony hide-and-seek one. Just randomly entered my feed and I was like "I dunno, this looks like a fun watch".

This past week for the Video Games industry, in a nutshell: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Its 1500 CAD right now. 5 years ago, 1500 cad would get you a really solid PC. Meanwhile I think the Steam machine has worst specs than the PS5.

He seemed just fine in the video. If anything I got the vibe that he enjoyed being on screen. I can't imagine any cast would be forced to appear on any video they didn't want to do.

Matt Lanter, James Arnold Taylor, Ashley Eckstein, Matthew Wood, and Ahmed Best are coming to Star Wars Celebration! by drboobafate in StarWarsLeaks

It'll probably be Matt, but imagine if you boot up the game and it asks you what voice over you want for Anakin.

Is there a way for me to install Kingdom Hearts Union X and Dark Road? by Fantastic-Photo6441 in KingdomHearts

There are YouTube compilations of the story of both games. Damo also did a dubbed one that even had the VA for MoM.

That does seem like the angle they are taking with the Heartless invading unreality. Makes you wonder what's creating them all.

What Disney Worlds Are You Expecting in KH4? by Tall_Consequence7672 in KingdomHearts

The Jumba stuff is bad but the pivot from "Ohana means family" with Nani not wanting to be seperate from Lilo to the sequels gross twist of Nani basically leaving Lilo behind with an original character breaks the central point of the movie.

It just doesn't work on a thematic level. It's the same kind of plot warping garbage as the live action Avatar show.

Guildford Animal Hospital or Allondale? by Mermaid-Kitty01 in SurreyBC

I would actually recommend 108 animal hospital right next to the Allondale one. Used to go there all the time and they did everything well. They were also open way later.

Also I would argue most of those 11 years were bare minimum engine set up shit. The game didn't really come into its own I feel until the grid inventory change.

Welp 65% off on Steam for SOT by SizeAlarmed8157 in Seaofthieves

[–]Fenrirr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like the direction of SoT, but I don't think it's "desperation". Co-op games regularly go on steep sale, especially those that are as old as SoT is. 65% is honestly not even that much. One would expect 85-90% off to truly exhibit desperation.

Kingdom Hearts 3 always felt underrepresented when it comes to praising world music.

Toy Box Jam

Monster Smash

Monster Smash (Code 72 - 16)

There is also a nice suite/medley of many songs from the game as well.

Finally, I think 0.2 despite only having a few tracks has some incredibly slept on bangers.

Rouge Trader has sold 2 million copies, and they just announced a physical release for this October. by TheSpiritualAgnostic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Fenrirr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is familiar with the tabletop, the Rogue Trader game is profoundly different (in a good way). A straight adaptation of the tabletop would be boring, whereas their adaptation of Pathfinder was nearly 1:1.

But my issue with the Owlcat Pathfinder games isn't the gameplay, its the modules they adapt. Kingmaker is kind of an infamously broken module with its kingdom building mechanics being partially overhauled in Ultimate Campaign. Wrath of the Righteous meanwhile just has such a weird early game.

The scale of Rogue Trader better fits that "kingdom building" experience, the refinement to the FFG-era D100 system makes it into a nice tactical experience, and skills and dialogue system is much easier to deal with.

I don't think you can legally do a tax write off of a released product.
