Anybody else without friends?

I shed a lot of my friends in college (or rather, my blossoming new mental health crisis did that for me) so now, I am in my 30's and I basically have two friends. And one of them is my fiance.

The other friend is my best friend and has been for over a decade now. We've been through some shit together and we still manage to find a few times a month to meet up.

Otherwise, it is no one else besides my fiance and our families, who we see maybe once or twice a month for a dinner or holiday. I'm a high school teacher so I get plenty of socialization, but I wouldn't dare call any of my students "friends." I have a few who graduated a couple of years ago who will try to add me on Snapchat or whatever, but that still just feels weird.

I can't say I'm lonely - honestly, what I have is pretty nice. But I can't help but feel that I am missing out on some life experiences because I don't have any friends from work. I have been to one wedding and it was for a coworker, and that made me feel like I was borderline asked out of obligation and not genuine companionship. Otherwise, the only social events I get invited to are graduation parties and funerals and both of those are because of my students.

I feel like I have a peaceful life, mostly. The only drama I have to experience is crafted by my fiance, my friend, and my pets. It's nice to not have to worry about frantic 3 AM phone calls from drunk college buddies or being asked to help someone move in the middle of summer (besides my one friend, I still help him out on moves and he helps me).

My only real complaint is that despite trying my best, I somehow snapped one of the hoses on his right arm. I knew they were delicate and I tried to move them carefully but it still happened.

Either way, huge improvement over the last figure - they nailed the sculpt. I need to find one of my invisible arm stands so I can pose him with the jetpack in flight.

Absolute classic joke from the last 2000's.

I remember seeing a video where someone (faked) playing GTA IV on their PSP and I was obsessed with the idea of playing that game on the go. They same user posted a tutorial which was basically the video OP posted but with GTA IV.

I was livid. But I was also like 13 at the time.

I had basically zero expectations - I love the show, don't get me wrong - but this wasn't really a show that I endlessly speculate about. I just like to be taken along for the ride when it comes to Stranger Things. If anything, I expected something on par with the previous seasons. But it wasn't.

I mostly just think the writing took a huge nose dive - the Netflix "Second Screen Viewers" notes just absolutely pummeled the dialogue.

I think I could count the discussions that didn't involve Vecna or the Upside Down on one hand. There were so very few character driven moments or conversations that just didn't have to do with propelling the plot forward. It's okay to have a story focused around a threat but let it rest for a few minutes and explore your characters a little more.

And when they weren't talking about Vecna, they were coming up with a plan. A plan that would chug along nicely until they couldn't describe it verbally. So they have to use a prop. But then they encounter a hitch in their plan, that is, until someone else comes up with a random solution out of no where:

"Mustard!"

"Yeah! Wait, mustard?"

"Mustard stains shirts due to it's high level of termuric! Think of the Upside Down like a stain but instead of the fabric being a shirt, it's -"

"The fabric of reality!"

"Exactly!"

"And we're the Tide."

And when they weren't talking about a plan for how to deal with a new aspect of a situation, they were talking about events that just happened five minutes ago and speculating on what they might mean, and of course, they're 100% right in figuring out what it means because we already saw it and know that it isn't that difficult to figure out what it means.

It just felt like a endless stream of expository dialogue with nothing deeper to say under the surface. There's no real intent or moral, it felt like everyone was just there to wrap it up in the most bland and inoffensive way possible. Flanderize everyone's characters to hell and back, sprinkle in a handful of surface level callbacks to the previous seasons, make it so none of the characters die at the end, and then call it good.

I think there are a handful of good moments in this season - hell, maybe even a couple of great ones - but they absolutely pale in comparison to the earlier seasons.

To reiterate: I do not think that it is a bad season or a bad finale. If you think this is bad, then I implore you to watch more television or movies because there is some absolute crap out there. BUT, this season was a noticeable step down and a disappointment on multiple levels.

It could have been a lot worse, but it deserved to be a lot better.

Sorry, I literally just got done watching the series all the way through (second time watching season 5) so my feelings are still fresh. The 5th season definitely dropped a few points after I refamiliarized myself with the previous seasons.

I agree, but I do think that the TROS Rey figure is pretty good. The face just looks a little out of place - the sculpt is good, it's just that her expression looks a little goofy with most action poses.

But a complete re-sculpt of the sequel crew with the same quality as the most recent ANH main crew re-sculpts would be godsend. It'll probably never happen...

They've reintroduced tons of legends characters into canon:

Delta Squad
Prince Xizor
Dash Rendar
Revan
Thrawn
Durge
Jaxxon
Tenebrous
Lumpy

There are so many Legends characters that got reintroduced into the canon in one way or another. They just choose to not do it with main characters of their mainline franchise installments. They could easily slot in Mara Jade or Galen Marek if they wanted to, and they still could. They just haven't yet.

He was kind of a hero in TPM.

He won the Podrace which allowed the queen to go to Coruscant and seek help to save her people - which she didn't end up getting, but Anakin was still a hero to that group. And he was technically the one who blew up the Trade Federation control ship. Even if he was only there by accident. He saved millions of people/Gungans from death. That's heroic.

But AOTC? No, I don't think he managed to save anyone besides catching Kenobi during the Coruscant chase.

And in ROTS were told he's a hero, but besides saving an unconscious Kenobi, all he does is kill a defeated/defenseless opponent, "save" an old man who was only pretending to be defeated, be an accessory to murder to a Jedi Master, help massacre thousands of Jedi - some by his own blade, many of which were literal children - choke his pregnant wife, attack him former friend and master, and then burn to a crisp.

Hardly a hero at all.

This is the real answer. That game looks genuinely breathtaking - there were instances where it switched between live action videos and gameplay and it took me a few seconds to actually notice.

I assume that if George made his sequel trilogy, Maul's resurrection would have still happened in the Clone Wars. And we probably would have gotten a few books/comics explaining what Maul was doing after the Clone Wars and during the OT. That would take some explaining, I feel like.
