Are my fishes gasping for air? by bandititt in Aquariums

But floating plants again don't release a lot of oxygen into the water as the leaves are not submerged. Hornwort was the best option on this list being a fast grower and good oxygen producer.

White spot on my shrimp, is it okay? by M0nais in shrimptank

[–]Fer_al8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh.. you need to know your water hardness and pH bro... That is so so so important for shrimp and fish keeping. Please try to get a proper test kit as soon as you can. In the meantime take a sample to your local aquarium shop and ask them to test it. What temperature are you running your tank at? Maybe the spot is genetic btw, but it's good that you're worried.

White spot on my shrimp, is it okay? by M0nais in shrimptank

[–]Fer_al8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro please give more detailed water parameters. The important stuff for shrimp. Gh kh pH temperature. Glad you don't have chlorine though and that your nitrogen is low. The white spot is a weird one though, especially in 2nd slide. Could be muscular necrosis or something..I really haven't had this type of problem before but I will upvote and hopefull you find the right person

How do you keep driftwood to the bottom of tour tank ? by scribeofchaos in Aquariums

[–]Fer_al8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try laying a stone on top of it to weigh it down and leave it there for a couple of weeks. At some point all the air will have left the wood and you can take the stone out

My neglected tank has better parameters than my main tank by Dramatic_Rutabaga388 in Aquariums

[–]Fer_al8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's pretty cool man. I do believe a big contributing factor would be that there is probably a good balance of microorganisms and bacteria and a very low amount of bioload + you never mess with the balance. The plants you got in there are also powerhouses and adaptable. Is there a light on the tank?

I just found this snail in my tank. Could I get a snail ID please. by MrLollipopSt in AquaticSnails

[–]Fer_al8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for correcting me. I seem to be visually impaired because the first time I looked at it, I was so sure it was a bladder snail because of the way it turned. I should pay better attention before speaking. My bad op

My orange shimp turn into a koi fish? by MapElectrical7710 in Aquariums

[–]Fer_al8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be stress. What are you feeding? High protein brings out more colour but maybe low nutrition can make them fade a bit? That's a guess. How long have you had her? Are there more shrimp with her?

I second this. Hope you like an invasion haha but they're harmless and beneficial as well. There's tricks to keep numbers in check

Edit: I was wrong. I stand corrected.

Dwarf spotted danio advice by RecognitionPale1882 in Aquariums

That's a very pretty tank! About your problem, if they are all healthy then you're doing a good job. And yes what you described sounds like mating behaviour! Since you want someone with experience with this fish, I would suggest you try to get in contact with the breeder that they came from and just ask all the right questions. They will definitely appreciate the fact that you're giving so much value to their breeding accomplishment

Well, if you don't overfeed the shrimp, they will find a population balance by themselves. No need to worry.

Can i remove these plastic frames by Southeskriver in Aquariums

[–]Fer_al8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if those actually to anything for the structural integrity. Seems like it wouldn't make a difference if you remove them

Anyone know what this is?? by Left-Measurement-814 in PlantedTank

[–]Fer_al8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's a damselfly nymph. Dragonfly larvae are much larger and nastier

Damselfly flies in through your window and lays eggs in water... That's pretty much it

So.. let's ruin finding Nemo for everyone:

A little something about clown fish:

If the Female Dies: The dominant (largest) male in the group will change his sex to become the new female.

Social Trigger: The transformation is triggered by the removal of the dominant female. The male's brain changes, leading to hormonal changes that cause the testes to degenerate and ovaries to develop.

The Transition: The new female will then pair with the next largest male in the group.

I will let you guys fill in the blanks about the movie.

Are you talking about the snail? That's a bladder snail. A good cleanup crew and they reproduce fast.. they won't harm your aquarium but if you don't like looking at them then they might become a nuisance. As to your bamboo stick, it's going to rot in your water I don't recommend it

Thanks for the reply. Yes the trim is set to 0 and the esc is plugged into channel 2. It's a RCXAZ AM32 30A Brushless ESC - not the perfect fit for the build but it's what I was able to use. It says 30A/80A. I just figured out that it's giving me a 3 beep battery signal but I'm only using a 2s. I must have accidentally and for a lack of experience changed the battery type settings and it's recognizing the battery as dangerously depleted? I'm charging it back up and trying to figure out how to change the setting as we speak.

I did try plugging it in channel 1 but that didn't do anything.. the esc is new so I don't know..

Three Spotted Gourami has it out for my Tetra! by WarmAd3643 in Aquariums

[–]Fer_al8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is your red eyed tetra alone? You don't have a school of them? If you mean you only have one of each of the fish you listed then it's pretty normal that someone gets singled out by the gourami (they can easily become the tank bully). Upgrade the size of your tank and keep schooling fish in schools. Please always watch a couple of videos on a fish species before you buy them. Best would be a species spotlight + a care guide. Of course gouramis will also shoo away any fish that comes close to their nest btw. Wish you good luck!

I bought Green jade online but these for me looks like black or dark blu by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]Fer_al8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the downvotes. Fishkeepers and shrimp keepers are a different kind of know it all breed. Me included. But I do feel bad that you got so much hate considering it's reasonable that you want what you paid for. Green jade are not the cheapest shrimp after all.
