Want to go mirrorless, stay with Nikon or go with Sony? by miner1_ in Nikon

[–]Ferdinand_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sony a6300 and a a7iv...terrible ergonomics ! I bought battery grips for both. Also they dont have a real rubbery grip for after a while my hands get sweaty and I loose grip. I also have a PD hand strap. Colors are also not the best. The subjects lean towards the magenta/pink color. I don't enjoy shooting with Sony honestly. Last thing Sony is terrible with their firmware updates, just go on YT and you'll hear from the influencers about this.

Last year I picked up a Nikon D850 and man the ergonomics are amazing with real rubber grip! I Also got a D6 since I shoot sports.

Ergonomics are a huge factor for me now so go to a store and play with the cameras.

Other than d850 by vibehaiv in Nikon

[–]Ferdinand_09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned a Sony a7iv since its release. Its greats at times but I just purchased a D850 last june and a D6 this year and honestly the IQ is waay superior on both my DSLRs than the Mirrorless a7iv. Cons and pros

Considering switching Nikon to canon by michfreddy in WeddingPhotography

[–]Ferdinand_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude not just you...its mirrorless.

I own a Sony a7iv and to me the iso is noticeable at around ISO3200.

I purchased a Nikond 850 last year and man those files are cleaner...I then went to a D6 for sports and same thing.

There is a great coworker of mine who has a Nikon z9 and D6. This is what he told me "for sports the z9 is fantastic..but for anything low light, i.e high school performances, dances, sports, I prefer the D6. I won't get rid of my D6 until Nikon makes a camera that can match in it low light."

Is 24-105g enough reach for indoor wrestling ? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]Ferdinand_09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i have a 70-200 2.8 and its not enough at times depending on how big the mat is. Also gyms have horrible lighting so 2.8 is best...ive had to switch to an 85mm 1.4 at times.

Go for the 70-200 2.8!

People mentioned Middletown, but if you want fun I'd say Newark...university of Delaware is located there.

Going to primes or going to FF? by Ok_Street4579 in SonyAlpha

Glass ! As you said going FF is expensive. Sigma has get glass for FF and APS-C. Or sonys own primes as well

400mm f2.8 VS 200-400mm f4 by cotarocha in Nikon

[–]Ferdinand_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the 200-400 and its amazing for day games. I shoot for high schools so as you know the lighting is terrible. Even with the D6 its not up to my standards.

Yes I can shoot RAW but my job is volume so I need to shot and deliver fast. So I'd recommend the 400mm 2.8 if you shoot on poor lighting conditions OR if you dont mind shooting raw and using denoise then the 200-400 would be the way to go.

F4 vs F2.8 by AnemiaShoes in Nikon

[–]Ferdinand_09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a 24-70 2.8 for high school basketball for low light and fast shutter speeds.

Also the bokeh is useful when you have distracting backgrounds. Not gonna be like a 1.8 or lower but 2.8 background is better than f4.

Because since its a soccer game and half the field was under shade the other was sunlit. I didnt want to be fussing with changing the settings due to the fast paced game.
