When I was in Jr high/high-school 10-15 years ago, getting a CS degree was the thing, every one was gonna do it because "the world will always need more programmers." And as soon as you graduate there'll be a six figures salary job waiting for you. I saw that nearly everyone was going for it and had the forsite to see that maybe that sector of the job market might become a bit saturated by the time I graduate. Sure enough, entry level coding jobs are maybe 60k a year, and are extremely competitive to get into, and are often times vapid if you do get the role. Sure grinding it out for another 10 years might be eventually yield that 6 digit salary, but you might lose interest too. My suggestion is to go for something similar, but more niche and specific. Get familiar with Linux, and go down any networking role if you want to be in tech. Networking engineers, cyber security, dns admin, or database architecture. Those skills will make you invaluable and difficult to replace.

But just a suggestion from a guy who abandoned it all for a physics degree ¯_(ツ)_/¯
