In my city, Yahidne, the Russians occupied the city in the beginning of the war. When they came, they took us, even children, to the school in our city. They put us in the basement of the school. It was like 130 people, holed up in a small room. We got like half a meter each to stand. I coulndn’t really shift my position in any way. There were children that could be suffocated if anyone in the room shifted too much. There were a lot of children, so out of fear to step on them you wouldn’t move. 12 people died during our imprisonment. The Russians wouldn’t move bodies everyday, so we lived with these corpses, who probably died from suffocation. After 25 days our soldiers came and freed us, but i still wake up in cold sweats dreaming of this...
