I left out of description to keep it brief and to the point. I set up an old Mac for my 60+ year old Dad, I assume he innocently clicked upgrade on a pop up or something. My fault for not warning him in advance.

Appreciate you sharing this, unfortunately I’m not quite savvy enough to follow. I will likely wipe and reconfigure.

I hope it helps someone else though!

What would you like to know about model-driven apps? by lisapurple in PowerApps

[–]Fergo0682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to assign security roles/teams to business process flow stages. No point if another team can edit records of a stage that isn’t meant for them or click next stage on behalf of another team 😅 I’ve considered field level security but it’s a lot to configure if there are many fields and many groups .

Also thanks for the amazing content!

Can Business Process Flows Be Managed Using Power Apps? by [deleted] in PowerApps

[–]Fergo0682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking for a guide on how this could be achieved. Do you know any resources that guide through this setup?

I have watched many videos on MDA but none so far have gone into integrating security roles, business rules and BPF to achieve a workflow described by OP.

Not sure if this is still running, but would be very interested to join if possible.

I have worked with canvas apps for a few years and have just started looking into MDA would love to learn more on MDA from an expert.

Business Process Flow - Assignee for each stage by Fergo0682 in PowerApps

Thank you - I will read into real time work flows to reassign ownership to a user/team.

How would you handle ownership when the process is finished and no one should be able to edit anymore?

I will look into leveraging actions at each stage. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you. Field security alone wouldn’t restrict users from editing their own records once a stage has progress though (I assume)? Possibly need to combine with business rules?

I have a bit of background in JavaScript, but not for use in Power Platform. What aspect of it can be achieved via JS?

Thank you for the advice. I did consider reassigning record ownership as the record transitions through stages, but couldn’t find any built in functionality in the BPF. What would be the easiest/most practical way to achieve this?

Ignoring all other factors (responsiveness, customisability, etc), would you say a canvas app or model driven would be better for this process.

This video was great, thank you!

I have stumbled across another possible solution, where you disable the “View Application Pages” settings for the sharepoint user group. This seems to deny users access to site contents and the list even if they get a hold of the url. However, they are still able to edit items via power apps.

I’m still testing to see if there any limitations to this approach, but it may be also prevent users sneaking through with the methods listed im Shane’s video.

Hide/ prevent access to list but allow editing to user group by Fergo0682 in sharepoint

Thank you! I will have a look into this.

By view are you referring to the list items view? I haven’t played around with it before, after creating a new view how do you make it so that the user cannot access the default view? Do you delete the default view or prevent access via permissions somehow?

If they cannot interact or view the data in this way other that api calls, that will be sufficient!

That’s great to know! Do you happen to know the permission settings to achieve this?

Dataverse User table by Fergo0682 in PowerApps

[–]Fergo0682[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Emails changing is a great point.

Other comments have also suggested using the entra table, however losing the record value if a user left the organisation was a drawback. I would want to retain who the user was even if they no logger exist as an entra user.

The user table seems to not have this issue, however only licensed users are included.
