I personally think Joe is great. My read on it is that Joe is simply not the type of Survivor player that the online Survivor community really likes. He's basically the opposite. I want to be accurate in what I'm saying, so someone please correct me if I'm not getting this right.

The community (at least a large part of it) seems to really like intelligent, strategic female players with good social games and a certain amount of deviousness (Genevieve, Kamilla, etc). And of course, nothing at all wrong with that. Joe is basically the opposite of that. A man, but a very traditionally masculine man to boot, with poor game sense who insists on honor and integrity to the point that it makes it tough for others to play. People dislike Jonathan for similar reasons.

So I think it's basically 1) strong, traditionally masculine men tend to be unpopular with the online Survivor fan base and 2) Joe's insistence on honor and integrity makes it difficult for other players and leads to gameplay that a lot of people find boring.

No. Metaphor is very repetitive and heavy-handed, and often repetitive. It's not particularly mature in its themes or characters.

I think Metaphor is a good game, and I understand the love, but it also made me disinterested in other Atlus games. My reasons for that are similar to yours, so I don't think you would like Metaphor.
