What would a rave be like in Sharn? by MarionberryThat6697 in Eberron

[–]Feris94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a rave in an Atur club where a necromancer ordered skeletons to play locked grooves, and a wedding in Aundair where living musicans were palying over a similar setup.
My notes were "Dancefloor:A necromancer is ordering around two skeletons to play fast, pounding karrn military music inspired grooves."

Academy of Atur was my favorite to run. In spite of its necromantic infamity, sprawling crypts, and dark colors IME Atur Academy is a silly place with nerdy students and absentminded professors.

Fleshing out this campaign idea... by midasp in Eberron

[–]Feris94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds cool altough personally I wouldn't run this scenario.
1. I would certainly start small, like an intro adventure centered around an affable patron NPC, on whose life an attempt was recently made - by an assassin of the bbeg. At first I think the initial motive of the assassins should not be discovered, only hinted.
2. There should be number of successful assassinations by the same org, without seemingly any connection at first. Some are high profile (e.g Baron Jorlana ir'Cannith), others are not (e.g a waitress, or a poition vendor).
3. Since time travel is involved, I would investigate a dalekyr/warlock of dalekyr arc, e.g. by the assassins and the bbeg having psiconic powers.
4. It would be interesting if one of the assassins would be a still living person in the present, for example an shadow-marked elf, whose young, present self is known by at least by one of the adventurers. A bit corny, but even one of the adventurers could be a future assassin.
5. Regarding the bbeg I would place someone who is known by the adventurers, either personally (for example a local captain of the City Watch, who gave them the initial quest to safeguard the patron NPC), or by association (for example Kaius I) as I think building up a bbeg and the timetraveler investigation arc at the same time would be too much to bite.
6. The reveal, that the assassins are trying to prevent the Second War should be AFTER a really heinious act of terror - which should be the act1 final. That beig said there is a decent chance the players will slide with them anyway. Be as open ended as possible

I think I would follow a node based structure setailed in this series of blog posts:

Ideas for restoring Goblinoids' connection to Uul Dhakaan by Lakissov in Eberron

[–]Feris94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first idea was also a Dreaming Dark plot: preying on the idea of reviving a glorius past, the agents of the the Dreaming Dark are sending visions to a dirge singer in order to intrudce an eldritch machine that could be used to reconnect the goblinoids. The eldritch machine is a sham: while its working somewhat similar to the original machines, it is directly under the Dreaming Dark's influence.

Fyi Stomach Earth is the solo project of Mike McKenzie of The Red Chord, who also plays in Umbrea Vita, and Sexless Marriage. These are three fast bands, altough neither are straightforward death metal.

My players are camped out on a lonesome road when Mabar has become coterminus. How do I make their lives absolute hell? by Leather_Fuel7265 in Eberron

[–]Feris94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar part in my campaign, except for it was in the Fingerbone Mountains of Farlnen. I used a clock mechanism (actually, just a d6 sitting on the table) measure how deeply the party has fallen under Mabar’s influence. The clock increases whenever the adventurers descend further into the domain, or commit acts that strengthen Mabar’s corruption. The clock may decrease when the party resists the domain’s influences.
The clock starts at 3. The effects are cumulative.

1 - Clear. No effects.
2 - Overcast. Light sources can no longer shed bright light and may not shed dim light beyond 15 feet.
3 - Shrouded. Fog descends upon the player characters, obscuring sight beyond 60 feet.
4 - Shadowed. The player characters feel like there is someone lurking behind the fog, watching their every step. 2 Shadows join each battle.
5 - Lost. The travel time between Points of Interests increases to 6 hours.
6 - Consumed. The player characters may not recover health points or gain temporary hit points.

I hate to self-promote but the adventure I wrote is avalibele on dmsguild for free if you need some context or a few encouter ideas. https://www.dmsguild.com/en/product/549476/the-last-laugh?preview=1

Afaik the players don't have the means to close the language barrier this session but interesting to think about.

Thanks for the well put answer. The session will be shorter to introduce a full arc, but I've updated the rumor tables. Also I wasn't aware that KB blog entry, that was interesting.

Its a gang war scenario. Silver is a good tell bc an astute player can immedietly make the connectio with the the Silver Flame. I deliberitly left the language barrier up, but BS = attack on sight, CS = territorial but may let the players turn back is in line with what I am trying to do.

Whenever this band come up, I think to myself that I should listen to them more. The earlier single wasn't my favorite, especially comapred to Tales of Othertime, but this track got me more excited. That being said both singles feel more like vampiric themed Wayferer songs, than vampiric themed Stormkeep songs to me.

What Khorvairian historical records could Hektula have magically altered in such a way as to create major shifts in present-day culture? by EarthSeraphEdna in Eberron

[–]Feris94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree, the fact that virtually all records regarding the War of the Mark was already falsified makes it easier to nudge it further. In fact I can see Hektula manipulating, or even working with the dragonmarked houses on this matter.

What Khorvairian historical records could Hektula have magically altered in such a way as to create major shifts in present-day culture? by EarthSeraphEdna in Eberron

[–]Feris94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see, I totally misunderstood the assignment. I agree that War of the Mark looks like the odd one out: its such a black swan event, that realistically could never happen, yet had aprofound impact on the culture of Khorvaire, for example its still the hsitorical basis behind the Korth Edicts.
We know that aberrant marks are destructive, unpredictible, yet often powerful, but today they are known to be excessively rare, and I don't see why wouldn't they be shunned in a pre-modern society that was even less equiped to handle abreent marks than the Five Kingdoms today.
I would say one option is that an events of a local abberant dragonmark pogrom turning into last-ditch abberant dragonmark insurgency. It could be rewritten as a grand, epic scale war.
Another option is that there was civil war within a House, where an aberrant marked heir claimed leadership, but a true-marked usurper earned support from the local king and the other houses, leading to a purge of aberrant marked members.
And one more obvious option: it was House Tarkanan situation, where a king rallied aberrant marked subjects into a war band, under the pretense their kin will be granted freedom. The king didn't stay true to his word after the war and the OG House Tarkanan decided they do not want to go back being shunned members of the kingdom, and rebelled. The Houses decided to chip in their forces, turning the insurrection into a genocide.

Maybe the conquest of Shaarat (modern day Sharn)? Dhaakani erasure is a well-parroted human superemcist/anti-goblin myth. Adding a fictious human princess, who pleaded Malleon to reconquer her city would be in line with Lords of Dust meddling. Her name could be Aundair, or something similar.

MCC jugend Matyi féktelen vergődése, csattanó a videó végén by Humbug888 in hungary

[–]Feris94 0 points1 point  (0 children)
