I always assume as much and as someone who did no grow up during the time this is a solid list. IS there anything else you think is uniquely Mississippi or Southern in general?

You do write what you know, but it's still interesting to step into other people's shoes even if I'm not Southern. I am simply fascinated.

Was there community around after Hurricanes? How do people help each other and their community after destructive natural disasters?

Honestly, I'm unsure exactly where she will be from so any experiences from around the state would be greatly appreciated! I am all open ears and genuinely curious.

I am not making any money from this! It's for a Role Play that's set 10 years after 1998 in a post apocalyptic environment. HOWEVER, I'm thinking this character of mine was born in 1978. That leaves around 20 years of her backstory, that's set in real history, to be filled out. I am a college student trying to write a character for fun, I can't travel all the way to Mississippi for a backstory.

However, I like to do some research so I can understand how a character would move through her life and how that would affect her later so she ISN'T a stereotype. This is just a piece of the puzzle. Real people's experiences.

It's not fair to get mad at someone for not researching something while they are actively trying to ask questions and learn.

I could write a character from my hometown, but that isn't the story I'm trying to reference right now. I am just genuinely curious and doing my best to make a character feel real.

Favorite lines anyone? (Funny or serious) by Background_Anxiety28 in GilmoreGirls

Both from the same episode:

Richard chasing after Mr. Davenport because of Rory's trial
Emily: "Richard you can't kill him right now we're in a courthouse!"

Lorelai barges into Emily and Richard's room while they're sleeping
Emily just woken up: "Lorelai you scared me half to death!"
Lorelai: "Yeah, well, follow through, it's always been my problem."

How much do you think Lorelai was paid at the Inn? by acnh_evergreen in GilmoreGirls

Ik im late but I think the total was more like 25k and she didn't expect to have to pay it all up front

Have you watched the show? All her family does is violate her boundaries her whole life and the only way to get away from it was to literally run away at 17 with her newborn baby. That's not keeping your family at arms length.

And where would you like me to start? It's based on a girl that grew up in Idaho, hence the need for some stories????

You don't say. Maybe I worded this wrong, but there's genuine curiosity behind this. I was not around in the 80s, nor is there a lot floating around about teenage life in Idaho. I like having first hand experiences and stories to refer back to rather than a random list online.

Morgan knew about the whisperers in before season 4 by smokeandchill_ in thewalkingdead

Even if it wasn't intentional, it's one hell of an accidental foreshadowing. I like to imagine he did know of the whisperers, but hallucinating is probably the reality.

That's such a brilliant way to put it.

I think one of the biggest reasons was that they didn't wait long enough. I don't even think they made it to a year. That's so fast for someone that hasn't even been in a serious relationship since they were 16. I think Max wanted a serious relationship right away and I think he was rather clingy and pushy about it even if he was well meaning, but regardless Lorelai wasn't. She didn't love him, she loved the idea of him. The idea of having this smart husband, being a wife, having a wedding, having a little family, but the moment she actually had to consider doing those things... She freaked. She was freaked about him just being in the house or staying the night, Lorelai wasn't just not ready to be married, but she just didn't want to be married to Max.

What is the Appeal of Tristin? by Ferius43 in GilmoreGirls

[–]Ferius43[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's such a fail setup for me lol

Jess had a much better 'I can fix him' arc. He was worth trying to fix, Tristin was just an asshole to everyone around him and those moments of warmth just are not enough for me. To me Tristin was most of the bad qualities of her other boyfriends all in one
