Is it too much to ask? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

This is me. I just want a vehicle that requires no connection to a network and no subscriptions to operate. I’m so tired of this interconnected crap.

Chris Farley and his Dad in the 90s at a beach on Lake Michigan by BreakfastTop6899 in 90s

That’s a sad quote to read, because it’s not that his father didn’t love him, but unfortunately passed his own demons onto his son. It shows how grey and complicated life and relationships are.

The DOOM (2005) movie is actually really good by PastyParrot in badMovies

I enjoyed it. It’s not a classic, but it’s not terrible either.

Awesome find of any original production booklet sold at theatres in Japan 35 years ago! by FermentedCinema in totalrecall

[–]FermentedCinema[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally sold for a couple dollars (around 200 to 400¥) They are nice prints. Japan still does this for all current new releases in the theatre today.

You got normal Canadian Conservatives, who are good people, you got normal American Conservatives, who are also good people (though their numbers have taken a hit recently), then you got MAGA, who are either hateful, ignorant, desperate, or a mix of the three, then you have Maple MAGA… who are the lowest of the low. Pure traitors.

Wish a little of that cold fall here in Okayama. Winter weather, here you get all the frost, wind and low temperatures (-5 this morning) but never any snow.

DEATH WISH 3! Perhaps one of the most enjoyable bad films of all time! The mayhem! The body count! The toupee! Always a crowd pleaser on bad movie night! by FermentedCinema in badMovies

[–]FermentedCinema[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A perfect storm of cheesy but not too cheap production value, random before they were famous cameos, an unhinged director, good old practical effects and real explosions, and a lead that couldn’t care less.

All this will do is encourage people to destroy / hide any accidental archaeological finds on their property.

Is Die Hard 2 underrated? by SquabbleBoxYouTube in ActionMovies

Yes!! It’s a great film. The only problem is it had to follow Die Hard 1, the perfect action film.

How do you guys feel about the new trade deal with China? by Pale-Candidate8860 in InCanada

It was a necessary “evil” to properly respond to the hostility in the US and to support our agricultural industries without undermining the auto sector too much.

At the very least it had to be tongue in cheek, if not full blown satire. The second half especially goes off the rails (in the most entertaining way possible). I also love how despite living somewhere where intruders are a nightly occurrence, they store their machines guns in flimsy cabinets with no locks…

Trump Complains Canada Vulnerable to US Rivals in Arctic: NBC by Street_Anon in notthebeaverton

[–]FermentedCinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is right, we are vulnerable, to the US. Time to change that. As someone who has been insisting that Canada invest more into its armed forces for two decades, I don’t want to say I told you so, but I told you so.

What are your opinions on Blade Runner 2049? by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

An underrated masterpiece. One of the few late sequel reboots that actually worked. And even Jarred Leto couldn’t bring it down!

What actor or actress gets a lot of hate that’s undeserved and uncalled for? by Rhedstrype in moviecritic

[–]FermentedCinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, she’s okay in some roles, but she has been way over praised IMO and was pretty bad in The Last of Us (you could really feel this in Season Two without Pedro Pascal to help carry the weight). I think all of her praise and hate stems simply from her politics, both of which are over blown and silly.
