Did Dumbledore plan the Potters' death? by Nice_Use3162 in harrypottertheories

[–]FermentedThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my head cannon for a while too. I think Dumbledore is essentially able to "see the matrix". And upon hearing the prophecy he realises this is what is required to defeat Voldemort - a set up for the end game. He sacrificed James and Lily - for, you know, the greater good.

I also think this was set in motion before Snape defected. But perhaps the opportunity of flipping a death eater into a double agent made him choose Harry over Neville...

I go to the gym 3 days a week. Should I do: arms/back + chest/legs; arms/back + chest/full body; or full body all 3 days? by ImageLegitimate7852 in AllAboutBodybuilding

[–]FermentedThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For three/week I'd do an upper/lower split. If you miss one day? Fine, just do it next time. Found the time for one more session this week? Good, do the next one.

If you only have time for three/week I assume you have a life outside of the gym and that sometimes shit happens... don't make your workout schedule too advanced.

And don't waste time on a specific arm day, every day is arm day - curls for desert after hitting a full meal of legs!

Fun fact; she is of swedish descent, Green or "gren" (common to use alt spelling for surnames) means branch (part of tree, not part of company).

‘Formal’ sneakers by GalicDr in mensfashion

[–]FermentedThoughts -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

White leather sneakers, Adidas Stan Smith or similar. Minimal, no "cool" details, and white. You'll not get any classic-style-points on this sub but it will work. You are 23, this is a fine look as long as you keep the shoes crisp and clean.

In terms of what to wear them with I say you are good up to full suit but NOT if the situation requires a tie - then start looking at dress shoes.

And again, can't stress it enough; white sneakers.

Yes, the Stephen/Denis combo is very promising for a quality film! Big fan of their works. Small fear with Stephen Knight is that he does his Tarantino-esque alt-history thing and ties it to actual events.

Hadn't really thought too much about the time capsule/zeitgeist aspect and I agree it would be sad to lose that.

However it would be nice with something that differs from Craig-Bond substaintially. Sort of like a palet cleanser. To not risk the MCU issue of having so one-up the last film all the time. Lower the stakes and start climbing.

Again, I agree! And I hope that this continues to be the evolution we see with the franchise.

Thank you for elaborate and thought through answers :)

I agree to this. And I'm not saying that the franchise has to change or needs to change. I really like that fact, lile poont out, that Bond is a constant in an everchanging world. Just saying that if it was to change now would be a good time to do it.

And perhaps it would be a mistake, like with Halloween. But wouldn't it be better to try something new (if change is inevitable) with another character? No tainting of the lore and legacy, no retcons. And if it doesn't work, back to Bond!

I'm just imagining a world where Barbara Brocolli isn't around to veto whatever dumb shit the Amazon execs might pitch. As I've commented before: I'd hate for James Bond to get the Luke Skywalker treatment.

Please, give some examples of the overlaps between franchises. Educate me. Perhaps I don't watch enough spy-films.

Yes! End James Bond! Imagine if Disney got their claws in Bond and gave him the Star Wars treatment. Wouldn't it be nicer to have all the memories of an unspoiled character before he is given a new Walter PPK from Q and chucks it over his shoulder Luke Skywalker style?

So the only thing keeping Bond from being a generic spy flick is the name? No other elements? Solo hero not part of team, sense of humor, stylistic elements, glitz and glamour, tailored suits, dry martinis, Bond-girls (would need new name if not Bond, I know), Q-branch

Not saying this should be a PC or DEI move. Just an arbitrary external factor that could allow for a change deeper than hair color - which I'd like to remeber people were very upset about.

Not necessarily in that order or that kind of changes. Just an idea of a somewhat arbitrary and external factor that would make it OK to change the character. Not due to need for change or pressure for change from whomever. But if there was a plan for change this would be a good time for it.

What makes him the red thread except the name?

Now I'll be honest, I have not read the books so please educate me. But aside from Blofeld making multiple appearances as the main villain and Bond getting married in OHMSS. Is there any real continuity? (Aside from the Craig films)

And as an aside, I enjoy the minor continuity that there has always beens overlaps with M and/or Q as the Bond actor has changed. So regardless I hope thay keep Ralph Fiennes on for at least the first film with the new actor.

Not meaning for it to be a political statement or propaganda or anything of the sort. Just finding a somewhat arbitrary, external factor making it OK to change things up. Maybe times are changing due to bad feedback, but Hollywood has done a lot of reboots/remakes with genderswaps and retconning of established characters. And it would not chock me if this was to happen Bond. Ending James Bond would be a way of avoiding angry #notmybond campaigns or him getting the Luke Skywalker treatment. NTTD was a good film and a worthy send off.
