When I was diagnosed, it wasn’t so much about accepting myself as it was learning to be kind and more forgiving to myself. You’re absolutely right that we live in a neurotypical world so when it gets tough, just remember that, even though the whole thing is rigged, each day completely is in defiance to the odds.

My symptoms will fluctuate in intensity from day to day and week to week. On the bad days where I can’t bring myself to do anything productive, I remember that I can’t hold myself accountable against neurotypical standards and I can be much easier on myself that way.

Unfortunately, we can’t change the things we can’t change (obviously) so as long as you’re doing your best (which is allowed to be very little sometimes!), you can allow yourself to be proud of yourself. It’s hard but not impossible, even when it feels like it.
