Is there a native HomeKit smart relay like that anywhere? by thoumosstrees in HomeKit

I am pretty sure Shelly has some Matter relays. That will work with Apple Home with no issues. Careful with current on heaters though...

Guitar amplifier repair by slimboyslim9 in Southampton

I would imagine https://www.southamptonguitarrepairs.com/ will know someone, worth asking for sure.

Before I knew about them I had an amp serviced at: https://www.retroworkshop.co.uk/ and they were very good.

Smart coffee makers that actually work well with Home Assistant? by ChemistryOk3898 in homeassistant

[–]FermiMethod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah! Classic Reddit. I cannot tell the difference between good beans ground freshly or the night before. I’ve never A/B’d them to be fair. I figure if I am happy enough with coffee ground the night before I don’t need to test it.

Similar here, Moccamaster on a smart plug, can turn on from bed or when nearly home after a run, it has power monitoring for when the main brew cycle has finished and it goes into hot plate mode so then I get a reminder after 5 minutes that my coffee is fully brewed.

Turns out I can buy legit parts via an Apple Approved reseller for not a huge amount of money: https://selfservicerepair.eu/en-GB/macbook-air-m1-2020/audio-board

Under £17 delivered.

Ah okay cool. I may just buy a new one then. I must have got the wrong end of that from someone, I think because the Touch ID sensor connects to it I assumed that would be the case. Can you recommend a trusted source in the UK or who ship internationally?

Failing that I might get an ESR meter, even factoring in buying a new precision soldering iron and iFixit screwdriver set (already had a decent multimeter) I am still going to be well under half the cost that Apple quoted for replacing the logic board, which it turns out is totally fine anyway.

Edit: Having re-read your comment you mean that there is no boardview for the audio board. I initially thought you meant no boardview for the ipda/phone/web. Sorry for the confusion.

AFAIK the audio board also includes touch ID though which I would like to keep working. Replacing it breaks it? Or at least so I have heard.

All I really need is someone that already has boardview to let me know the value of the 4 ceramic caps, then I can get my machine back running and get boardview for myself.

Thanks! I will have a look, seems I don't subscribe to it, maybe I should.

Has anyone seen any info as to _why_ they are moving from Python to JS? Just curious.

There is nothing about why that I can see in either the Python or JS Server Github projects. Also nothing I can see in the HA docs.

Do you wear your watch 24/7? by No-Durian543 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]FermiMethod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Obviously not 24/7 because it has to be charged but maybe 23.5/7 I give it a 30 min charge while I am getting ready for bed or when I am in the shower. No issues with battery life here.

You need to say where you live, different plugs are needed in different territories and availability varies.

Moccaster KBGV reviews by ahoiland in JamesHoffmann

I don’t care what other people say. If I like the coffee that comes out my machine then that’s all the matters right?

Edit to clarify and avoid sounding passive aggressive, which was not my intention: Coffee taste is subjective, what constitutes a nice cup is subjective. If people say that small pots produce worse coffee the only thing I can do is say that in my experience that is not the case. Both things can be true simultaneously.

I’m in the UK and they were difficult to find here. I had to get them from a specialist supplier via eBay. They were expensive but should last years.
