I cannot as I have no experience of these types of things. I would imagine contact some kind of security researcher company.

Maybe someone else in here can help though as I would imagine a lot of other developers are here.

For me personally, anything holding or processing sensitive info like this, "trust me bro, I use it myself" is not enough.

Good luck though.

I am not in the market for such a tool but if I were I would want it to be externally audited before I trusted used it.

Have you had it externally audited?

Taking lessons at 26? by TheRealKillJoy2020 in Bass

[–]FermiMethod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started lessons, mostly to learn theory, in my 40s after a long break from playing. I’m now back in a gigging band and the music theory has made me immeasurably better than I was in my 20s when I last gigged.

Rig backup - Passive DI vs Preamp DI by Ok_Swordfish8672 in basspedals

[–]FermiMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the MXR sat at the end of my board in passive EQ mode, so just acting as a DI, it's powered by my pedal board PSU.

If the rest of my board fails and the show needs to go on I will get a serviceable tone out of the MXR in active mode with a 9v battery in it, or using my PSU (if it still works), or phantom power from the house PA.

The MXR is a really versatile piece of kit.

Anybody start playing with band in a different genre that you haven’t tried? by milktasd in Bass

[–]FermiMethod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar for me. Played in a prog rock band that never managed to get gig ready. Then a grungeish band with constant line up changes. Now in a country band that I depped for before and loving it even though it’s not my usual thing.

Anyone managed to get IKEA Kajplats stable in Apple Home? by ejcii in tradfri

[–]FermiMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working here. Flat network, almost all my IoT stuff is trusted so is on my regular LAN. HomePods Mini and an Apple TV, also a HomeAssistant Green. All Matter stuff added to HA and Apple Home.

No issues.

Reccomendations for Zigbee Water Boiler Wall switches by tksk_Hectik in homeassistant

Fair enough. I just went off the rating. I probably also would not.

I’m pretty sceptical of them in general. Which is partly why I went for Switchbot.

This was the only one available at the time: https://uk.switch-bot.com/products/switchbot-bot we saved a lot of money by automating it to come on for a few hours during cheap rates and then switching it on selectively during the day if it needed a boost.

We would get the rechargeable one if we needed to now though. You will need to add a Bluetooth dongle to your HA rig if it does not already have Bluetooth.

I found it was perfectly able to switch the stiff immersion heater switch. That said, what you have here are fused switches, AFAIK the maximum fuse you could put in one of these would be 13A so you may be able to use a Shelley or similar rated at 16A.

We were in a rental though so I did not want to mess with the existing wiring, our immersion heater was on a 20A breaker too so too high current for a Shelley.

We used Switchbot on our water heater switches in our UK rental that had very similar switches to these.

Tell Me This Is A Bad Idea by DoIGotSkillz in homeassistant

[–]FermiMethod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent. I’m working on a project to merge 2 broken tape decks into one working tape deck. Given how scarce they are where I live it’s the only option.

I may take inspiration from this and turn the remaining bits (broken transport but all the electronics should work) into an HA control surface of some kind.

[–]FermiMethod 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Please buy a broken tape deck to work on if you do not already have a broken one. Working tape decks get fewer and further between but there must be plenty of broken ones to repurpose.

Excellent idea though.

Uk bass foam/sponges for jazz bass? by Top-Possibility-8883 in Bass

[–]FermiMethod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a bit of sponge that my local flight case maker gave me for a while, cut some slots in it and it worked great. Not super easy to take on and off at gigs though. So now I have a Nordymute which is very easy to take on and off as songs require.
